Jim & Jim made you look forward to the news like no other team has. I was 16 when he died and I'll never forget how devastated my brother and I were over it. I'll only watch Jim Gardner on the news now and hope he knows he IS Philly News to generations.
He died in 1983 which is before most people owned VCRs, I know I bought my first one after he died. Of course no one knew he was going to die in 1983 or they would have recorded him. I hope someone out there does post some of his TV weather forecasts. I do have some of him recorded on WFIL 560 but they are not great audio quality and do not show his real talent....but I might post some of them.
Try and post more. We met him as kids at The Sports Show at the Civic Center. We were getting his autograph and some other kids came up to him to get his autograph as well and they had a rumpled paper bag. He said what am I going to do with that? Get outta here. We thought it was hilarious. He was the most popular personality in the early 70's by far. More than any Flyer,Sixer or Eagle. People were shocked when he died across all races. And Philly was very segregated at that time.

Sorry, I don't care how he died. Why isn't U tube flooded with posts of Jim's
weather broadcasts. Wouldn't it be great to see all those again?

There is more, mostly Peri Gilpin talking about Frazier. I may post it in the future if more people ask.
