One time, I decided to rent Percy Jackson on Bluray from Netflix, and popped it in. About 20 minutes in, the player died. When I turned it on, it made me update it. 15 minutes later, I continued watching. Three more times, the player just shut off. Not to mention, I don't care about bonus features. And, I don't want to have to sit and watch 400 hours of commercials. I now buy my movies on iTunes, thank you very much.
I like DVDs better than Blue-ray. My Blue-ray player is so slow, and some of my Blue-ray discs only work on the PS3. ): I don't really care that the graphics are of higher quality, because it's hardly noticable to me anyway.
i can only think of 1 reason that would make cds more"emotionally" motivating than digital song files and that is because you have an actual physical copy of your beloved music with instead of seemingly virtual "untouchable" mp3 files inside your computer....

(or in i-dont-know-wtf-that-is terms mp3 has worse quality. and yes its noticable. wav on the other hand is uncompressed and sounds really good (just with a huge file size). so cd's and files on an hdd are 2 different things.
mp3 is an awesome codec i am never able to hear any diffences between original cd uncompressed audio and properly encoded high bitrate mp3 files infact they sounded a lot better and "fizzy" than their cd counterpart at much less the file size... and its "emotional" music which i listen to most of the time......the guy who did that research is stupid...proper effects, equalization,good headphones /speakers and most of all good music is what which counts....

Also, I can certainly understand the transition from VHS to DVD (so as to not wear out your original tapes). But the transition from DVD or even HD DVD to BD is not really much of a transition. @clayxtr to be honest, 2.40:1 looks really amazing when see artistically and shot the right way, with the blu-ray they try to recapture the grain of the film, but over digitize it causing it to look very pixelated in the back ground. I saw avatar on blu-ray and it was pretty clear but not as clear as people make it out to be. With this fake imax, the black bars might be no more for movies.
Blu Ray clearly is better otherwise it wouldn't have won. Dont you see a pattern HD DVD got a head start over Blu Ray just like the 360 did over the PS3. Blu Ray caught up and surpassed it just like the PS3 is doing now. Face it!

I chose HD-DVD because although Blueray is larger and can hold more visual information for a "Higher Quality" video, it cant up convert Standard-Def DVDs that we allready have. It can play them, but cant upconvert. Also the picture is too clean, I see every flaw in the video making it nausiating to watch. Real life isn't even this clear. Its like seeing Alan Colmes in High Def with no make up on compared to him in Standard def with make up on. A movie projector with film is better then Blueray.
Yes hd dvd might have been a failure but the whole point is that this whole war was a flop. If blu-ray was a floppy or a big flash (jump) drive then yea great war, but another cd people aren't that stupid. My reasons why blu-ray to me is silly is
1. Another CD
2. 720p looks better than 1080p why?
3. Same as hd dvd but different name and codec.
4. Updates what's up with that.

yes! everything looks like the video feed they use on set to block and test the scene during the shoot. essentially, it all looks like direct line video. especially on an LCD screen.

I bought a 42" 1080P 120HZ LCD from Best Buy. sight unseen (read reviews before I bought it) and the month before I bought a PS3.
I was watching Wizard of Oz on BD, and nowhere did it look "fake" it looks just like it should FILM. it has the film grain still intact, it looks amazing for a 70 year old film.
I now have around 20 BDs and they're all AMAZING, I recommend Dark Knight.

While 2000x 1GB/per second DVD players do exist but they cost around 700 dollars.
While as of now Blu-ray is 30x speed with 70 MB/per second.
Its not bad but if you want your 50 GB all at once, you're screwed at the moment.
not to mention only seem to have a warranty of 6 months *though common Flash drives are 3 Week warranty because they're only used to move files to one hard drive to another.*

actually blue ray is more durable. i have a ps3 all games are obviously br and a br movie. i have a sdtv and mirrors edge for ps3 and it looks real on sdtv i can (and have) play frisbee w/ my games and it plays like new and br has more storage. checkout the 360 hd dvd scratches galore poor graphics and not as much possibility. face it br is truly better.if u don't like well have fun living an outdated life verliers!

@clayxtr to be honest, 2.40:1 looks really amazing when see artistically and shot the right way, with the blu-ray they try to recapture the grain of the film, but over digitize it causing it to look very pixelated in the back ground. I saw avatar on blu-ray and it was pretty clear but not as clear as people make it out to be. With this fake imax, the black bars might be no more for movies.

I chose HD-DVD because although Blueray is larger and can hold more visual information for a "Higher Quality" video, it cant up convert Standard-Def DVDs that we allready have. It can play them, but cant upconvert. Also the picture is too clean, I see every flaw in the video making it nausiating to watch. Real life isn't even this clear. Its like seeing Alan Colmes in High Def with no make up on compared to him in Standard def with make up on. A movie projector with film is better then Blueray.

I bought a 42" 1080P 120HZ LCD from Best Buy. sight unseen (read reviews before I bought it) and the month before I bought a PS3.
I was watching Wizard of Oz on BD, and nowhere did it look "fake" it looks just like it should FILM. it has the film grain still intact, it looks amazing for a 70 year old film.
I now have around 20 BDs and they're all AMAZING, I recommend Dark Knight.

While 2000x 1GB/per second DVD players do exist but they cost around 700 dollars.
While as of now Blu-ray is 30x speed with 70 MB/per second.
Its not bad but if you want your 50 GB all at once, you're screwed at the moment.

I have a Sony Laptop, Sony BluRay drive in it, Sony bluray encoded by sony movie, and I CANT PLAY THE FUCKEN BLURAY POS. I pay more for the quality of blu-ray just to have to deal with all this bullshit.
To keep people from hacking their discs they encode each stupid fucking disc so you have to have another blu-ray update to watch the disc. I am on my 4th update so far and every one has been over 100MB. Fuck Sony and Fuck their encoding this is stupid bullshit.
