To say that "the Ventures "dumbed it down" is idiotic. Both of their versions, "Walk, Don't Run" and "Walk, Don't Run"'64" were both fantastic songs. Chet Akins' version is nothing short of lifeless.

Great to see this. Don't forget that link between Johnny Smith and the Ventures - Chet Atkins. Chet took Smith's tune, put his thumb pickin' rythm to it, then the Ventures "dumbed it down" from there - All versions were outstanding!
