  • Was watching some of Edarems videos... Heard him singing this.

He died yesterday I think... R.I.P Ed

  • songs like this define rocknroll for me.

  • 1956 In Cloverdale Cal wasnt alowed to listen to the radio but was walking to the store and heard this from a car was amazed it sounded twice as rockin that it does now but sure changed my life

  • i dont get it how she wrote a song with the name of the frontman to BOA??? please someone explain

  • AWESOME Doesn't get any better

  • GO JIM DANDY!

  • this is my friend's gradnmother :)) it's awesome

  • tuune

  • black oak did this song much better, but they were only doin a cover of her, so its a tie!

  • @tommieparch Two completely different interpretations! Black Oak was joking around ,mocking Jim for looking for some girl but Lavern Baker was dead serious -- keeps pushing Jim to go find the girl if she meant that much to him....Best thing about music --there is no right or wrong,,we feel what we feel and that's good enough for me.

  • @tommieparch You don't say much better and a tie in the same sentence

  • this just brings back so many memories, WOW!!!!

  • AWESOME ! Another record lover ! And a awesome song too !! TY4 Sharing this.

  • This woman had white people listening and dancing to her music when Aretha Franklin had never been heard of. It pisses me off that Laverne never got the recognition she deserved for her contribution to rock and roll.

  • @gdl0748 I agree with you on this. Lavern Baker had a hell of a voice

  • @gdl0748 A-MEN !

  • Boy, this is a real good one. I"m glad that Blak Oak Arkansaw (if I'm correct on this) re-did this song, but I'll stick with the Lavern Baker version. At any rate, I gotta say "I dig this song", and hope you do too. Marc.

  • After school dances at El Monte Legion Stadium...........Those were the days!!!

  • I love this song! Still hear it sometimes on oldies stations.I still have 2 old radios that it would have been heard on originally: a ca.1950 Grundig-Majestic floor model radio, and the old AM radio in my 1956 Pontiac .

  • Saw Lavern do this on a DC teen dance show on film transferred to video

  • Hello Dear, still enjoying the music! Great job!

  • One of my fav rock n roll songs! never fails to get the head bobbin!

  • @jamoes95ta Something wrong with them if anyone can sit still listening to this song!!!

  • I think she`s got such a sexy voice!

  • hello do you actually have these records?

  • @nadirachase --All the records I've posted are from my collection... We started collecting 35 years ago ,around 2500 45's so far but always looking for more.

  • @railwalker1 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzthank You

  • @railwalker1 thank you

  • I saw Laverne sing this song at a rock and roll concert at Memorial Auditorium in Atlanta in 1956. She put on one helluva show. I will never forget it. All the greats were there, Little Richard, Fats Domino, The Platters, etc., but the one that stands out in my mind was Lovely Laverne.

  • @beastiez1 That's quite a roster of stars beastiez. Some of the greatest talent of the 20th century and you were there.I'm sure you treasure the memory.

  • Oh hell yeah.LaVerne did this tune the best

  • Back in the 50's Skating at the rollerrink in Vany Nuys to this one, didn't get any better.

  • A perfect song!

  • This song is awesome!!!

  • oh !! the voice ... the music .. so good !!

  • Thanks this is awesome :)

  • Remember this old tune on the radio when I was really young during Christmas time.

  • Haha.. so happy to have found this tune.. it's not the greatest technical or musical or produced piece of rock'n'roll but the lyrics and singing rock! Go Jim Dandy, Go Jim Dandy! He's better than Superman any day..

  • *Dances in her chair

  • Boy, this is the real deal!!!! I love this version. I heard this song in the grocery store this morning and I couldn't stop smiling. I almost wanted to start dancing. That's what it did to me. Thanks Lavern, for a great little tune! Marc Trainor.

  • When I was in junior high this was played at every dance and house party. Kids loved to jitterbug to this jumpin' hit. It's an incredibly danceable song. I introduced my neighbor to dancing with this beloved record. Her mother royally flipped out and angrily told me to never bring "that kind of music" into her household....Whew, was she angry. To this day I LOVE this song with its toe-tapping beat.

  • Youtube removed this 1 for copyright violation about 9 months ago so good look to Ya long may it last

  • The audio characteristics are different enuf from the CD digital. See my Tra La La, hope railwalker approves the video response.

  • Yeah...They took the good version off, but this is better than nothing...I think!

  • Thank You--I think!

  • Thank you " I'm sure"...Just listened to it this morning! Glad yours stayed on!....

I wish they would put the other version back on though...I think!

  • Since you got the song from a mich it might not get pulled. It's not embedded. Although you never know. good luck and thanks , I like it...

  • this makes sense. I never heard this but watched "Macon County Line" years ago. Love the Black Oak Arkansas version also.
