I use both two...except for EXCEPTIONNAL bassists like Steve Harris, it is very uneasy to play very quick tremolo rythm on the bass with fingers...And remember in music, it's the technics that serves the music, and not the music that serves technics. If a bassist can more quickly and easily reach a good level thanks to pick, where is the problem ? So I use a pick for medium or quick tempo music...and fingers for easy slow power ballads because of round sound, more adapted to ballads.
Pick gives sharper sound, better definition, fingers (without nails) give you a rounder sound. Depents on what you need / like better. Cut the this better that better crap pls.
I don't say one is better than the other. But a lot of people argue on my videos about pick/finger playing so I recorded me playing this song with both to show that there is little difference in sound. I can play using both but I personally am much more comfortable playing with a pick because I taught myself and learnt with a pick.
Totally agree with you dude...just enjoy music....greetings from Colombia...
it is good to know you didnt work a known song such as fear of the dark or hallowed be thy name...there are other remarkable songs and one should not stick only to the commercial ones...keep it loud
Never did get why people make such a pig deal over how you make the strings make sound. Honestly, im a bassist, and I do both. It's about personal choice and what sound you want, theres tons of ways to go about it. So instead of acting like it's a religious crime based on your own personal style why not enjoy the bassist for his actual playing?

I believe pick gives you more of a treble sound and your fingers give you more of a bassy sound
