Check with the largest retailer in your surrounding area. Ask the store manager if he knows when and if he’ll get a shipment of it, but more than likely you’ll need to contact the distributor directly. Just ask the manager the name of the distribution company for Buffalo Trace and give them a call. Ask politely which stores get an allotment of the “Antique Collection” and when they’ll possibly get another delivery. With any luck you’ll find a few.
Sorry to hear that. Let me just sub in Blanton's and Booker's for those Pappy's (they should be easier to get). I'd also suggest George T Stagg, Noah's Mill or Vintage Bourbon's 17 year old (if you can find them).
Well, I know they sell a ton of the regular Jack Daniels but it definitely wouldn't make the Top 5 list. Now the Jack Single Barrel is tasty but it also wouldn't make my Top 5 American whiskey list. The Evan Williams Single Barrel vintage lineup is a great buy and consistently good, but the 1999 is now really hard to find (even the 2000 EW is getting pretty rare these days). While they might not make the Top 5, they should both be staples in any bar.
The Evan Williams Single Barrel 2001 is very good, but maybe notquite up to the 2000. It is very well balanced with some unique banana flavor in its profile.
Agreed! Of course we know that the Sazerac 18 isn't a bourbon but I just got so excited when I was picking out my favorites, that I grabbed it without thinking. If I were to re-shoot this video today, Hirsch 16 or a Booker Noe's "Distillers Masterpiece" would easily replace it.
Very nice. Thank you for sharing. Of course there are many more that could be added to this, but you have a fairly good selection. Some of the more obscure are perhaps valuable to the collector BECAUSE they are obscure, but NOT because they are HIGHER QUALITY; one must certainly keep this in mind.Rare does not necessarily mean high quality. I find several in my collection that are not included here that are not necessarily 'rare' yet are superior in quality. That said, enjoy your little treats.
If you’re asking if I have any, I do. It’s shown right at the beginning of “My Bourbons #2 of 2” video (I have my small Canadian collection so I just included in there). Now if you’re asking why it wasn’t in this video, it would be simply because it doesn’t meet the criteria of bourbon. It's a great Canadian whisky and I do thoroughly enjoy the Special Reserve for its availability and quality. It's quite possible it would make My Top 5 of 5 Canadian whisky list.
You have a great collection of liquor and I'm glad you did this top 5 video. I ended up picking up a bottle of Bernheim wheat whiskey after watching this video and couldn't be happier that I did.
Thanks for the great comment and I’m glad I could help. I probably should do a few more "Top 5, Best of" videos to help some others try some wonderful spirits that they may normally pass by.
quite the collection you have there of (relatively rare) bourbons and ryes. I say "relatively" only because I haven't seen some of these in my area. where do you live that you can buy these with such ease? up in Minnesota we do okay but don't have quite the variety you seem to have.
I'm lucky enough to have been born & raised here in Texas. I say "lucky" since throughout the years, Texas has slowly grown into one of the largest consumers of whisky in the country. This meant that along the way the manufacturers have felt the need to keep us well stocked with all kinds of spirits. Of course a lot of those have come and gone giving people like me plenty of old liquor stores throughout this great state to find those lost gems.
@LiquorHound I'm also from Texas and you are absolutely right! I have a bottle of Jack Daniels 94 proof Barrelhouse 1 from batch #B-002, bottled in the summer of 1994. I was keeping this bottle of liquor for a special time. That special time was this last winter when my wife got sick and I made her a hot toddy with it! Since then I have drank almost all of it! From 1994 to 2011. Tasted great! Nice video! Take Care!
I forgot to mention that I finally made it to the Wine and Liquor Depot a couple of months back. What a store! The helpful clerk (Gilbert) seemed to really know his stuff and the selection was excellent. I left with 3 bottles and hopefully I can make it back there. Funny note; while talking to Gilbert I mentioned that I had a descent little collection and when I told him my YouTube name he had actually seen my videos! What a small world.
I really enjoy your reviews but I was wondering where is the best place to look for buffalo traces annual collection release?

@LiquorHound really? Because here in canada for a bottle of Evan Williams 1999, you will pay like 60 dollars.

I saw Bernheim in this and ignored anything else you said.
My opinion of course...but...yea....

@pontiacbaron
Nothing wrong with Bernheim, though if I were to choose something wheaty it would be Old Weller 107.

My local store had a 2000 when I was there last (utah, which blows for availability) so I will go after work. Never even seen a Pappy here.

Sazerac is great but the entire Buffalo Trace Antique collection is excellent. Some years better than others but never disappointing.
