@AnalogueAbsynth No, you are being a fucking retard right there. Music is not for a certain age of people, that is why it is pathetic you are even mentioning your age. You should enjoy the music without feeling the need to make yourself out to be special. I am 15, you don't see me bragging about it to people?
Trin, I don't mind if you use it. Keep in mind that I don't own the music, so I would check with The Harry Fox agency (you can find them on Google). This may be Public Domain, but I would check just to be safe.
Y'see kids, they listen to the rap music, which gives them the brain damage. With their hippin' and their hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin', so they don't know what the JAZZ, is all about, y'see?
I'd also like to remark that the only reason these videos are only watched by 8 year olds is that contemporaries to this age are either dead or unaware that this stuff is on youtube...
I have a question, this record has no crackles or pops and it's 70 years-old? Is this a cut master-track? That's the only record type I get cleaner than a master-press
@Hollywoodx21x... Good question. This is an extremely clean shellac commercial press. I used a 3.0 mil stylus. If you listen closely there is some background noise. When I posted this, Youtube was heavily compressing the audio on all of the videos that were being posted. That hid some of the noise
Im 18 and this music is possibly the best ever made. By looking at the comments, it seems as if jazz, swing, and big band could make revival. Oh that would be so awesome...
A time when men were men, held doors open for ladies, and everyone ended the day with a drink and jazz record. Dancing was perfectly acceptable for men, and who can resist when this classy bit pops on, eh?
Why fondle the past when the future is so eager to be written? Bring back jazz my friends!
had this kind of music in the radio few days ago and my sister said she hate it and its depressing, she'd rather listen to death metal. well i also like death metal, but i'd much rather listen to this, this always makes me happy.
I am a 19 year old girl, and I loved jazz since I was little, but everyone seems to make fun of this amazing type of music! Everyone is just into what is new and lame rap.
Rap was created form this! jazz transformed to reggae, and reggae to rap, but it all happened in about fourty years! and i am not talking about what the redio plays in these days, it is just awful. Old schol hip hop for ever! :)
I started collecting swing in the early 1970s when you could get this stuff at auctions for about a penny a copy. Now, there are thousands of these records in online auctions for not to high a price and no ones buying alot of it. Only the rare, odd stuff sells. That means for not much of an investment we can all have a nice collection of these records, or you can just keep listening to youtube and eventually all the old stuff will be on here. I hope.
This music makes me realize how crappy is the "modern" music with all those pop hip-hop and rockstars that have absolutely no talent, geeze they don't even have the decency to play their own instruments... anyway this is great music, so relaxing.
Sweetness... finally a good ol' appreciation of music... ya know? Finally we are not arguing over this "music sucks" and all that youtube comment crap.
I think it something to do with being trendy or whatever, I openly admit my taste for old cartoons, old music, and old cars while seemingly endlessly whining about flat modern cartoons and how new cars have small windows.
I have to agree. With a record you're listening to an actual sound wave. With digital you're listening to a binary code interpritation of sound and it doesn't catch everything. It's only a slight difference that's felt more than heard. This record, for example, sounds even better live. The video just doesn't fully capture the feel of the song
True as your digital vs analogue comment may be, it's actually nonsense. Digital is a far superior, and far more accurate capturing of a sound. All analogue did was colour sound which, while not unpleasant, was essentially just another step away from the original performance.
It depends on what you're basing superiority on. Under perfect circumstances, analog captures the entire audible spectrum. It's a recreation of a sound wave. Digital is binary code and can't (currently) grab the entire audible spectrum. The reason I am saying currently is that I think they will eventually develop digital to the point that the "bits" that make up the sound wave are so small that digital will truly be superior.
The problem with analog recording and storage is white noise.
@PJDooWop So it's those worrying gaps between digital bits that make digital worse? ...only joking, but as a electronics and sound engineer, digital more than overcomes the so called "problem". Analogue has just as many problems, but the basic rule is if it sounds good the medium does not matter a jot. If the medium is dominating the performance some thing is very wrong indeed.
You make a very good point. A good digital engineer is worth his/her weight in gold. Digital is far superior to analog in a few ways, especially when it comes to storage and what it makes possible in a recording studio. There are things I can do now in a studio in a period of minutes that used to take me an hour or more on tape.
@Malc180s no way... with digital, you dont get those little sounds, like those clicks and pops, its something that you need when listening to an old time record
The comments on this site by younger people is a testamony to the benefit YouTube provides in the musical education of those unfamiliar with big band jazz and swing.
I'm 40, and they used to play this stuff at night on the radio. My parents told me about when Glenn Miller went missing in world war II, all the kids on the dance floor started crying...
