Heck, this is what TV companies did, except with 16 mm, to sell footage to where the television standards weren't known, or were in a state of flux (many countries around then were preparing for the introduction of colour TV, of which three standards competed)
For those of of us from the 8mm (pre-VHS) era, these bring back great memories. I ue to get the Brenda's Movie House Catalogue in the late 70s too.
