@iMayHaveBieberBlast You need to have secured the fort in order to save (ESC menu). Additionally, you heal yourself when you have a flashing + icon and you select the heal icon for your character. You can access the base management screens (inventory, survivors, etc.) only when you have secured your fort and when you are not on a mission.
