Hello! I have iTunes 9.3 at the moment. But I want to downgrade to iTunes 8.2 and it won't let me do it for some reason.

Hallo every one!!!! After installing itunes version 9. I plugged my shuffle 2nd gen into the port but it froze when I tried to sync, the shuffle had previously been working fine with itunes 8. I disconnected and reconnected and itunes prompted a restore. After completing all the trouble shooting steps on the apple website the problem was still not fixed. it probaly comes up with an error saying ituneslibary.itl...what you want to do is to go to music folder find itunes libary click on it and find itunelibary.itl or just itunes libary .....rename it to ituneslibary.itl.old this should probaly solve your problem

what i did was search for all my itunes libraries and deleted them. this erases everything within itunes, but you can just add everything back in once you get 8.1.1 running. this may take you a little time, but it was the only way it worked for me.

then search itunes

you should find a file called itune playlist or something

then itunesplaylist extras

deltete those to files

then start up itunes and it shud work

Hey everyone! i figured it this is for windows users only who error says problem with Itunes library. then simple hit start> my documents> my music>Itunes> then what i did is i simple took the folders and dragged them onto my desktop leave the 4 files that talk about the library in there and you good to go.

All I did to down grade itunes was I download the newest setup file ( but don't activate it) for itunes than went into control panel and deleted itunes. All my music and videos etc... were still there. PS I have 8.2 Beta ,8.2 and 8.0 I can which between the 3 without any problem. I always save the setup file and name it to whatever itunes it is

You need to back up your itunes libary. And make a new one. When you've done you job in 8.1.1 you can upgrade itunes back to 8.2.0 and change you libary back with the old one.

Question for me now:

I want to change the .ipcc file from my iphone so i also need to downgrade,, now when i connect the iphone it's says: Cannot connect because you need a newer version of itunes.

For vista users, go to start then click on music. Then you will see the itunes folder, right click it and select copy. Then make a folder wherever preferably the c drive then click on the new folder and there should be nothing in it. right click and select paste.

thanks. and the app i use to delete the WHOLE file is called App Zapper. for example if its only a trial application and you delelte it and re download it it says you have to pay or something. but if you delete it with app zapper then you can re use that program over and over
