  • awesome.

  • I have fallen in love with this banjo! And your dynamics are AMAZING. You give a truly fantastic performance every time!

  • Great song, great playing. I keep coming back to this video.

  • hey what tuning are you using on this tune?

  • @flarzooski I'm close to gCGCD, but the tune is usually played in D, so I would have capoed to aDADE if I weren't too lazy to look for a capo...

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Not to belabor a point, but you need to do a CD of OT banjo tunes. Now. :^)

  • @d18dude Thanks! One of these days--I'm now the stay-at-home dad of a 2-year old, and have zero time to play, much less record!

  • I really like your sound.. but as I see it's a lot due to the player too.

This tune is a sweet one. Cheers!

  • fantastic, you play beautifully!

  • My goodness that is beautiful still :)

  • Love the sound of that banjo. May I ask what strings you are using in this video? (nyglut/medium/light)?

    Thanks

  • You know, I have no idea. Steel by the sound, but I really don't remember...

  • Sounds really good! I'm impressed. I certainly hope I can frail like you some day (probably a loooong time) ;)

  • Happy to send you my teaching tab. Email me directly so I can send an attachment, please.

  • i have seen on your reponse pages somewhere there that if we want to see a specific song played to let you know .....well i was wondering if you could play a version of the clarence "tom" ashley version "Tough Luck" i Think the Only Way im Going to learn that is if i see it and you have the closest sound to the CTA that ive ever heard thanks.

  • We have many clawhammer tab collections at the store; call toll free: 866-365-5189.

Depending on just what you're looking for, I'm happy to share my teaching tabs if there is something in specific you want that I've already tabbed: best to email me directly for that so I can send an attachment.

  • Wow. I love the sound of the 13". I didnt know how wonderful it sounds :) Now I want one. Thanks for sharing.

  • This Is Probably my favorite performance by you yet. im now in that stage of trying to find a video of you i havent seen, but impressed with what ive seen so far!

  • Thanks! You know that I have over 100 downloadable MP3s at zeppmusic dot you-know-what. There is a link in the left index, or just navigate to my site adding /MP3 at the end.

There are a couple of direct overlaps, where I've posted a video soundtrack, but most are different recordings.

  • You can also paste 3333291563/MP3 into your non-Safari browser to get to my MP3s, BTW. ( I often wonder why YouTube proscribes URLs in these comments.)

  • That must be the nicest banjo i have seen i could and have watched your playing al day you are an absolute insperation

  • aw, shucks! Thanks! Your most kind words are truly appreciated!

  • Hello... any ideas where I can get the tablature to this tune?

    I love it!

  • Send me your email address and I'll send you my teaching tab for it.

  • Zepp: I've always loved this piece and your playing of it. First saw the clip when I was looking at buying the big Romero from you but ended up buying the custom Chuck Lee with the lady and the moon (you can see it at "tuckytunes" on youtube), which I like a lot but still pine after this banjo here a bit. Anyway, I like all your clips. Will try to give your store credit somewhere on one of my posts.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated!

  • Beautiful sound and playing Don .. All the best , guy

  • Zepp, beautiful playing as usual. What a sound! My goal is to own a Romero.

  • Thanks! Well, we should have a mint condition one in the shop this week. I haven't seen it yet (should see it later today), but the owner describes it as "Mahogany open back with cast star L shoes and camphor wood headstock and rim overlay, 12 inch goat skin head, gorgeous!" :-)

    Cheers!

  • That is the most beatiful banjo playing

I have ever heard. I survived Clifftop '08 , that means I heard ALOT of clawhammer banjo.

  • Thanks, Hunter! Yeah--there is a lot of banjo to be heard at Clifftop. Of course, from my perspective, this is a Very Good Thing (TM)!

    Cheers!

  • You wouldn't happen to have this one in your shop still, would you?

  • Nope--I've sold it (twice now).

  • that is an enormous pot, I might seriously think about a Seeger neck on that thing for some visual balance.

  • True, though the combined weight might kill a person... We did have the same 11-13/16th inch WL pot with a Seeger neck come through the store a couple of times--looked "normal" (though it made me look small): we called it "the Beast." :-)

  • Well, I have a 1920 something Vega Whitelaydie plectrum, the entire outside of the pot is metal, so whenever I see potws like the one on the here I think they are probabvly lighter.

  • You rule

  • Wow...I love this song, and your playing on this rendition is just beautiful! This banjo has such a sweet, mellow sound...

  • amazing tone.

  • I'd prefer it if you could smile, and screw up more, so that I might someday catch up with you. I'm still playing around with a consignment banjo I got from you.

  • Zepp, you always look so serious...stoic? Did I spell that right? Maybe that's the word I mean. Cool, deep, mellow sound. I'll take 12 of them, right away! Your banjo skills and power of suggestive sales techniques have gotten me again!!!

  • Hmmm... True. I only smile when I've screwed up. I guess I need to work on that (smiling, that is, not screwing up more...)

Thanks for the kind words! Can't sell you 12, but I do have that one still for sale! :-)

  • excellent job! keep the videos coming, the community is really enjoying it!!!
