  • I don't think there was ever a time when there wasn't spiritual / Christian overtones in Springsteen's music and writing. I don't see how it could have been missed. If he wasn't believing it, why would he follow this song up with "This little light of mine," on the live from Dublin DVD.

  • The Seeger Sessions was about getting back to the roots of folk music.. This was a folk song before it was considered jazz or blues . The only connections to the Saints football team was that on this tour he performed it in New Orleans and the "Who Dats" went crazy. Then the NFL Network used it to close out the documentary about the Saints' Superbowl season. That was pretty cool.

  • good point miarrem at least somebody sometimes understands something. totally agree with you, and I would add: he does it with style, lots of style!

  • don vido your names on his ass

  • yeah, he's accomplished a lot, but then again, -- so has billy ray cyrus, milli vannilli, etc....

maybe you too, are an insignificant opinionated pigmy (the worst kind)

  • He was a Saints fan.

Or he's talking about the end of the world.

  • @Russel would you prefer him play Hells Bells?

  • Wow! I can't believe how many of you are missing the point of Bruce playing this song! It's all there in his "intro" - he wants to be in that number - those that laid out the path for someone like him to come along. Got nothing to do with the religious interpretation of this song...

  • @miarrem Well said. Thank you for your erudite explanation.

  • touchant,rien de plus.

  • haha...bruce springsteen...a born again...tell me you aren't seriously wondering that. no...this tour was about getting back to the roots of music--folk and gospel.

  • What if he is? That's his business? Who is forcing you to listen?

Oh, and by the way, what have you accomplished in any life arena that gives you license to criticize someone of Bruce Springsteen's stature. I'm continually amazed when pigmies criticize giants.

Finally, no, he's not "born again." He's playing tradition American folk music in a never-before-attempted way.

That's what great artists do, they create new art.

  • the ''giants'' make their money from the ''pigmies'',so our little opinions count.

    stature?

maybe, but,he still sounds like a washed up born again, who needs to play these songs to create a new audience..

  • @CPSJSMSUUMUGA Very well said. Good on you. So few people seem to understand that these days.

  • wow thats a different version... never heard it played like that before... i always hear it more dixieland style... lovely....

  • amazing, anything bruce is godly... athiest as well

one can not deny his genius however

  • This is beautiful. and I'm an atheist!

  • you must be a relly dumb-ass, mental sick to ignore all the art this performance has. Yanker or from anywhere, get on ur knees n bless THE BOSS!

  • ignoraaaaaaaaaaaaaant

  • too many americans in the aucience, screaming and yelling when they should be listening

  • agree a lot...

  • theyre in italy dumbass

  • so there are no americans in Italy? you asshole why would I make reference to the presence of Americans if I thought the show was in the US, you DUMB YANKER

  • I'll bet a fair few Italians were whooping andd cheering - I'm a Brit but I would be if I were ever lucky enough to be at such a fantastic concert. Peace.

  • Buena version. Lo único, que no me gusta que siendo tan intimista y lirica, las gentes que asisten al concierto, con sus aplausos y demás, ROMPEN LA MAGIA!

  • just awesome !!
