  • I know how to get all dots connect without touching other dots

  • I can do it with one line, just make it really wide so it covers all

  • Make the letter E

  • i can do it with three lines

  • KUUL

  • i can do it in three lines

  • If you make an extended "Z" pattern, consisting of 3 straight line segments,

you can connect all the "dots"....but doing so requires the "dots" to be treated as geometric (circular) shapes, which have *areas*, instead of "dots" which are defined as points...If the dots are points, then there is no way do sole the puzzle with 3 straight connected lines...

That said, you can do it in 1 line, if folding the paper is allowed...

  • or just pull 3 straight vertical lines and one more horizontal that will connect all three

  • I've done this with 4 lines, can this really be done in 3 lines?

  • @AJtheory yes

  • @AJtheory No, not with straight lines.

  • @11000010101 Yes it can be done with 3 straight lines that are connected. You just need to think even more outside the box. If you fail after trying for 1 week let me know.

  • @samvittighed Well, let's say I've been trying for a week, what would you tell me? The only way you can cover those nine dots with three lines is with three parallell lines, which of course are not connected. And no, you may not draw a slightly tilted line which still goes through the dots, that's cheating. It should go through the CENTER of the dots.

  • @11000010101 If you watch the video, you will the that the solution proposed does NOT go through the centers of the dots. Thus a solution with 3 lines also does not have to go through the centers. Thus you can make an extremely wide Z that will hit all 9 dots. Had the problem been posed as mathematical points, your concern would have been valid.

  • @samvittighed But the solution in the video would have worked even if the problem concerned mathematical points. If you start considering solutions including thicknesses valid, you can (as some have proposed) just as well make one really thick line going through all of the dots, solving the problem.

  • @AJtheory yes

  • poustaki

  • this one is stupid.. of course you try to solve it INSIDE the dots

  • man I found it in 10 minutes without looking at the solution!!!! yeah!!! :DDD

  • wow`~

  • I can do it with 1 line, just hand me an extremely large thick marker.

  • you can do it in 3 lines

  • just make an x and a + and ur done 0.O

  • @XXCUTlEXX07 Although not explained very well in the video. There are rules. You can only use 4 lines. The lines MUST be continuous, and straight. You may NOT fold or curve the paper to finish the puzzle. There may be more but thats all I remember.

  • ..So you can figure that out... but you can never figure the X in the box trick!

  • chuck norris did it with 2 lines

  • i did it without going outside the box

  • I did it with 3.....

  • Just use a giant marker

  • man im good :)

  • WTF BUGS!!

  • Well I got an IQ test who can tell me why its suggesting me to watch "Vaginal Childbirth" good luck.

  • that made me feel depressed.

    good job.

  • this isnt really fair because in the "connect the dots" sense, lines start and end at a dot, not go past them. when you do a connect the dots drawing, you dont go through the dots and have a bunch of crooked points like if you used this type of method.

  • @toasty303 The lady said "think outside the box"...

  • think lines?

  • the thing is knowing what they want someone to do is the hardest while the test is just plain dumb cause the dots are not conncted, the lines aren't really crossing from one dot to the other.

  • there are other ways

  • i did the same thing it was super easy!!

  • lol thats how i solved it too

  • ooohhhh

  • Think outside the box, Use a paint brush the size of the 9 dots, So you hit them all in one line

  • @mooman219 better still, splash the paint onto the paper. Ding ! Finished

  • Now i feel stupid D:... BUTT MUNCH!!!

  • VERY COOL. I LIKES THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ zxxzxzxxzxz notice how the instructions say you cant lift ur pen

  • @ zxxzxzxxzx notice how they say u cant lift ur pen from paper.

  • i thoght of that but i didn't think it was aloud

  • think out of the box...

  • If this is accepted then why not just do an E?

  • @zxxzxzxxzxz You're not allowed to lift your pen or go back...

  • If this is allowed I can do it with 3 lines. if my the is extremely long (desirably infinitely long), the parallax angle will be extremely close to zero. I can just draw a "z" with 3 extremely long lines.

  • i did this in 5th grade ;) and i completed it easy peasy you know

  • @grymmatarmar me too... but i didn't remember it at all :b but i was able to solved just had to think a little lol

  • @martins4theway yeah :P

  • you said "inpossible" it should be impossible. didn't your mom teacher you how to spell?

  • lol you must be retarted there is more than one way to connect the dots without lifting the pen and without the need to write outside of the bountries >.>

  • I call bull shit!!!

  • I guess that is the answer - mine was a capital E shape - the capital E shape, has 4 lines and my pencil didn't leave the paper, I just drew over a few lines

  • THOUGHT OF THAT EXACT SAME SOLUTION!

  • Comment removed

  • wow, i hope i'll bump in to this test somehow in the future :)

  • that sucks.you just make the answer bigger!

  • O_O

    wow..

  • that....that's gay...

  • in soviet russia lines connect you

  • i solved it, i just got 9 pencils, 1 for each line xD

  • yeah, I got it. I do all of these simple problems because I don't have intuition.

  • i swear i solved it in 4 second.))) if u think soo long 4 lines its really easy but u mast say 9 circle not dots or else u can do it with one line using big pencil.but if u say they re cirles it becomes real geometri problem

  • @esraretin Even if they are dots, they have a particular gap between them so you need a something big to cever them all anyway ^^.

  • @DemonikOu i i didnt get it...i think the problem should be so (my english is not so good)

    1-there re 9 circles

2-with 4 line ,every line should be connected at least with other one from its starting or finishing point

solution is zigzag with acceptable angle and length (lines)

  • @DemonikOu 2- should be 3 line not 4 line sorry

  • Comment removed

  • think ouside.

  • OMG THIS IS SO EASY WITH 4 !!!

    DO THAT WITH 3 !!!

  • chuck norris don't even need to draw one line to solve this. it freaks out and solves itself at the sight of chuck.

  • Another solution... put the dots on the cardboard of the inside of the toilet paper roll.... you get the rest. :)

    thumbs up mindfreaks XD

  • to do this with 3,just draw a circle (1 line)around the first 8/the outside

then do a line or an x.wow,i did it with 2 lines :D

  • @narutochatrommfan they said straight lines moron

    a circle isn't straight

  • @maximoto275 oh,i forgoto type jke lolz >:0

  • Chuck Norris can connect 1,000,000 Dots with only 1 kick

  • Just draw the 9 dots in a line!!

  • you can't solve this with less than 4 unless you consider dots as big spots (with diameter) not just a dot.

  • The lines have to be out from the box. I can explain that but it's long yeah..

  • I can do it within the boundaries.

  • I have three real solutions and one that i thought would be nice but kind of cheating.

1st : Using 4 lines it can be done the way you have demonstrated although mine was another orientation.

2nd : Using 3 lines, if you take the dots as having a diameter then a straight line at a very slight angle can pass through the top line similarly with the other two lines to create a Z at a very large distance away.

  • 3rd: Using 3 lines if you assume that the dots are singularities, ie. they have no diameter then 3 parallel straight lines going through each row will meet at infinity

A fourth one that i thought about but i think it is rubbish to be perfectly honest is if you assume that the dots are infinitessimal mass elements then a single line would curve around in a spiral until it reached the middle passing through all of them in a space-time like environment.

  • i dID iT

aLl wIth 1.... buT it was a vEry VERY FAT one

  • Chuck Norris can solve it just with ONE!!!!!

  • I've solved it but not this way :P:P

  • HAHA I know how to do it with 3 lines =P

  • Marica

  • chuck norris can do it with 1... o_o line

  • pro-minds.eu

  • erm... concerning 3 lines solution.. of course it won't work with a theoretical dot..

ok. first line connects dots 1 2 n 3 almost horisontally (lil bit downwarding), then the line goes faaaaaaaar right, from there to dots 6,5,4 n going faaaar to the left. Then back again to dots 7,8,9. Such a weird zig-zag;)

  • chuck norris can do that with in 0 lines he just needs to look at it

  • THATS WICKED COOCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. ps i have turrets :}}}}}}

  • well that kinda defeats the purpose. I mean hell I could bend any IQ question and then get it "right" and then I'd be thought of as a genius.

  • i did it with no lines:) just print it out and use a scissor to cut them out.... after that: stack em:)

  • @Shoarma2 LMAO!

  • @Shoarma2 that's cheating

  • @LeroyRifkin well actually no.... the only rules are: connect the dots with a maximum of 4 lines.... a hint is: think outside the box.... so i cut them out the box and and stack em OUTSIDE 'box'

  • @Shoarma2 you're a gentleman and a scholar

  • lol

  • i can see four different ways to solve this problem. how is this hard!

  • NICE ;)

  • with three line.. here how... start some where and do a " Z " but get so outside the box thats your line gonna be like " z " and more litte with long lines... so when you connect with 3 dot a lines they aren't gonna be straitch dot to dot...

    " Z " the " / " will look like " -- " ... hard to explain but thats the only solution I get when I saw this message

  • its all down to how you interpret the question, isnt it?

  • Y does line get in no dot!!!?

  • I did it in 0 lines. I used curves. Is that okay!? XD

  • I did it with one, i folded the paper so you can connect all 9 dots in one line

  • fuk thinking outside the box thats what society wants us to do!!

  • @Diluxe22 it's the opposite schools have taught us to see shapes and resemblence in object's, limiting our creativity, if you hold a red square and ask someone what it is everyone says a square, when it's just the color red we've been taught to use symbolism everywhere, basically to use our left brain

  • is that allowed?

  • @Xmastermusty thats what im sayin it must be a trick question hahaha thats the only way

  • wanna know how to do it in 3? dont connect the lines. just cross out 3 dots with one line each

  • @MultiStickATG You can't lift your pencil.

  • you know how to solve it but you can't write "impossible" correctly

  • Three Line Solutioni. USE LARGE "N".

Line #1. (Going up) Starting on the left side of the left dot. cross the middle left side dot in the middle and you should end up on the right side of the top dot. Continue as far up as you need to before coming down for line #2.

  • explanation. boundaries.

  • i thought no crossing line

  • my teacher taught me before but i ccouldnt remember... then when i see the ans i was like : HOW COULD I FORGET!@!@

  • haha, I love this trick, but its no fun because I got it on my first try o.o

  • Fold the paper over so all dots overlap, then push through needle and thread.

  • I can do it with one

  • GOSH DUHHHHH!!!

  • If one allows following the curvature of the earth, OR believes in the "donut" theory of the shape of the universe, you can do it with one line (acknowledging that a line goes on forever of course).

  • This was grade 4 trick very easy

  • hahaha sneaky bastard

  • Using a z shape, you can do it with just three lines.

  • @m8s4lif uhh then you'd miss two dots

  • @capsBeatz Starting with the top of the top left dot, run a line through the middle of the second dot in the top line, then through the bottom of the third dot. Extend the line far enough so that you can reverse directions and hit the top of the third dot in the second row, the middle of the middle dot in the second row and the bottom of the first dot in the second row. Now extend that line far enough so that you can reverse directions again and do the same thing with the bottom row.

  • @capsBeatz You wind up having three slightly diagonal lines. The trick is that you have to extend the lines far enough before direction changes. Remember, top of the dot, middle of the next dot, then the bottom of the last dot in each row. It does work.

  • THANKSSSSSSSS

  • i knew it was something like this :p

  • its so simple how could u not get it no one ever said u cant go outside the lines that was not mind boggling

  • Bravo

  • Bravo

  • wow. i wld not of figured that out

    5 stars

  • I knew this since fourth grade...

  • If I draw the 9 dots really tiny, I can use one line, a wide marker, to cover them all.

  • @My1968Impala

lol nice 1 ;) that's what i call thinking out of the box

  • @My1968Impala I THOUTH OF IT FIRST! :-D

  • @My1968Impala I THOUGHT OF IT FIRST! :-D

  • I did it with 3 straight lines but was figuring out how to do 4. lol

  • i did it like this I_I_I ...connected them all, 4 straight lines and didnt take pen off the paper, but i guess we were not allowed to retrace lines

  • Isn't that 6 lines?

  • there is an easier way

  • I just did a big X trhen two //

  • you have to do it without takign ur pen off the paper

  • "Think outside of the box."

How I didn't figure that out?

  • You can do it with one line, just use a really big pencil...

  • hahahahahahahahaha just dip the whole paper in lead

  • @Notsorandomnumbers thats what i did. i did it with one big fat line.

  • @Notsorandomnumbers LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • so is this the only way that is possible? or is there more than one way to do it?

  • i did it with 1!!!!

    ...

    ..

    curly line .

  • the puzzle is using a straight line

  • wow no wonder i never got it. the person testing me said that the lines could not go past the dots.

  • I DID IT WITH 3.

  • rubbermaid69co:

    Please share!!!

  • I did with 2....... jk lol

  • @rubbermaid69co I did it without drawing any lines at all....that's how good I am

  • @rubbermaid69co

You cant take the pen off the paper

  • @rubbermaid69co me either!!

  • @rubbermaid69co U noob everyone can do that 9 dots trick with 3 lines ! but u aren't supposed to draw on your table because the paper would end for the 3 lines trick to work. Dumbass ! btw I can do it with 1 line can you top that ?

  • Chuck Norris can connect 1,000,000 Dots with only 1 kick

  • That's funny, because when i took this test i wasn't able to go outside the perameter of the dots.

  • i stopped

    i got down

    and i ROFL!

  • wtf? you were NOT supposed to cross the lines?

  • @hejhhopp If you where not supose to cross the lines it would be impossible.

  • yes, thats why i wanted to see the solutioun =)
