I cannot believe the police are able to hold it together that well. Good job. In the face of people yelling, threatening, and throwing stuff they back down. Not many countries where that would happen. America is quite a tolerant place to angry crowds.

@ambiente1971 Yeah it's pretty stunning, best example up to that time but it all changed the next morning. I was amazed how the crowd just stood there knowing something was coming but not really reacting until the horses started in. When the tear gas, and impact weapons were deployed that worried me a bit. I promised my wife I'd keep our adult daughter safe, for time I thought we were in jeopardy. The whole time there was this beach ball being batted around, even the police joined in.

Watch the woman front and center when the horses thrust into the crowd. Calm, passive yet determined to hold her ground, unbelievable.

The police are there to project the power of government but they met an overwhelming projection of the peoples power. Because of that they "restrained" themselves. Later the following morning without the people to deter them they felt free to act. They did so perpetrating their frustration upon the protesters that remained. Totally unnecessary use of force.
