@XXfrancesca127 actually the first baseman was running over to see if she was ok, realized that the ball was catchable and caught it...attempted to double off the runner but the 2nd baseman was over to the pitcher by then and the right fielder was all the way to 1st base. This all happened in 12 seconds so I doubt there was much thinking going on at the time!
Im a guy i pitch overhand and when i throw and release a turn a little bit and put my glove about enck height so that sortof thing doesnt happen to me.
You do not call time when a player goes down. Yeah, you feel bad for the girl that got drilled, but that's the rules. Her teammates certainly weren't about to just stop. She can wait an extra few seconds for the ice. Only time I'd call time is with really little kids, or a shot to the chest in which a player just drops and doesn't move. Commotio cordis is the only real danger to a pitcher's life. And no I'm not just being a hardass I used to pitch and I've been drilled before too.

It looked like she was trying to throw a drop-curve.
But she rotated her hand to early,and didnt get the full spinn for a drop,or a curve.
And the speeed of the ball she pitched,didn't exactly help when it came off the sweet spot in that,(looks like a combat)(sounds like a combat)
