mobil 1 destroyed my turbo , it doesnt bond to the thrust bearings as well as the bad penn oil I use nowdays , the brad penn has more zinc content and I havent had any issues just search on mobile one turbo failure I'm not the only one , I use to think it was the best and it is ok for many cars but it just doesnt bond as well to the thrust bearings in a turbo charger as some better oils do and my turbo cost 2 grand so not a cheap thing to replace just giving a heads up
@barnchips I have used several oils in the past,in many different motors and I believe there is a difference. Mobil1 is OK in a grocery geter, I use it in my daily driver. Amsoil is fantastic in the boosted sti as well as shell rotella and enoes. The sti killed Mobil1 in 4 passes on the dyno, with the above oils their were hp differences but not buy much. my b18c5 motor does well on pen platinum but Amsoil lasts longer between oil changes
Yes Synthetic is OK for older cars if there engine is freshly rebuilt & has NEW SEALS !! But its not good if the engine has over 100K miles on it & has used reg oil all its life the seals WILL Start to Leak more !!!
@SL7Z62 Only if it's already leaking...this is due to the fact synthetic oil is 'slipperier' than regular oil, so it's going to leak more than regular oil...other than that, it's just fine.
This video is so much full of shit. Yes I also prefer synthetic oils but if youve used mineral oils all the cars life and then switch to synthetic it WILL start leaking. And its because of chemical reactions between the oils not because the synthetic oil is bad for seals.
@Lillie1986 There is no point to prove. You are wrong. Chemical reaction between between the oils? How is that? There are synthetic blends also. Does that mean that there is a bad chemical reaction going on in the brand new bottle of oil?
