Um...read your bible, Jesus ascended up to heaven in a cloud after appearing to the disciples in Acts and the disciples were told QUITE clearly, that he will come back in this manner also...no mention of him promising to physically APPEAR at any other meetings. Their prophecies are never wrong. A friend of mine prophecied that my wife and I would be pregnant in 3 months and the baby would be healthy. It took over 5 months, and the fetus miscarried (it wasn't healthy). His prophecy somehow got modified to mean that when my wife actually had a baby it would be healthy, the time frame didn't seem to be a part of the prophecy anymore. He STILL thinks he's a prophet. These people ignore the bible, and you can't reason with them.
It's fairly obvious to see with unbiased eyes that he means Jesus' "presence" not "in the flesh visitation." There is a difference between seeing Jesus in the prophetic spiritual realm and in the physical realm. Thats why he says "we are talking about in atmosphere, we are talking about in spiritual experience."

If it's the same Spirit (the Holy one)why would his view be different? Prophecy has to be believed and acted upon to come to pass. Man has been given authority over the Earth, so if he does not believe and act on prophecy, it does not come to pass. All the believers there had a part in that prophecy.

You don't understand prophecy. In the bible, if prophecy doesn't come true, the prophet is FALSE. Read Deuteronomy 18:20-22. The actions of men AREN'T EVEN MENTIONED! If what you say is true, prophecy is USELESS as a sign, and NO PROPHET could be held accountable.
Consider this. It was prophesied to me that my wife would conceive within 3 months (the "prophet" knew we were trying.) It was also "foretold" that the fetus would be born healthy, and we were not to worry, God had it in hand. It took almost 6 MONTHS, with NO LACK OF TRYING on MY part, believe me!We were happy. After 6 WEEKS, the fetus MISCARRIED! Despite the timing errors and the death of the fetus, the prophet STILL thinks he was accurate.
His reaction was "Keep trying, the word of the Lord doesn't come back void." 1 week before the prophecy, my wife and I were praying for confirmation of modern prophecy, since we were new to all this, and didn't want to miss God if He was moving in all this. God used this event to open our eyes. We were genuinely hoping for confirmation of all this, but God showed us the truth. If Deut 18:20-22 is true, then my friend is a false prophet. If you think otherwise, you are deceived.
Prophets have accountability, but so do the hearers. I cannot be held accountable for your decisions and you cannot be held accountable for mine. A person can choose to NOT believe the prophet.
Consider Namaan in 2 Kings 5 who didn't like the word of the prophet, but when he chose to believe it and follow it (he seemed to do this begrudgingly), then his obedience caused the healing. What do you suppose would have happened if he refused to believe and obey?
That was a conditional word, not a predictive sign. Consider that Abraham LAUGHED at God, and the prophecy STILL came true. Sometimes a prophecy has conditions, and they are known. Other times, God gives a prediction as a sign. If mans actions affected EVERY prophecy, and the conditions weren't known, prophecy is USELESS as a sign, and Deut. 18:20-22 couldn't be applied. That's how we can test Hinn's prophecy. The homos never repented as a community, and the weren't destroyed. Hinn is FALSE.

Jesus wasn't saying NOT to stone anyonbe EVER. The people bringing the woman before Jesus were trying to TRICK Jesus. If they were following the law and the woman was "caught in the act" as the passage says, BOTH were to be brought before the PRIESTS, and THE WHOLE COMMUNITY were to stone them. Jesus was evading their trap. The stoning would have been unlawful. Jesus wept over Jerusalem in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PASSAGE. Do you understand the idea of context? (Not trying to be rude)
GuitarWhisperer - I recommend that you pick up a newer version of the Bible - this passage you're discussing here was added later - sometime in the last part of the second century. There's no indication that this event ever took place, so it's not worth debating.
My bible notes that earlier versions don't contain this passage. Also, if you remove the passage, the chapter makes more sense and flows better, so it's an obvious addition, but that doesn't mean the story's not true. It's most likely not scripture, but it's certainly possible. It's worth arguing, simply because many people use the story to support various heresies such as "God's anti-death penalty" and "you can't judge anyone". Even if TRUE, the story doesn't actually support those heresies.
Agreed - these heresies aren't supported. I am constantly amazed by how easily people will create a whole new doctrine out of such a small passage of scripture. Folks are either ignorant or willfully ignore the context of the passage, the context of scripture as a whole - many things - all because they have a preconceived agenda.

I personally believe Bentely is being persecuted for his immaturity and lack of order and sobriety, but none of these things will disqualify you from God's service. Only Jesus can decide if he was there in person or not and just because Jesus did not set foot on the stage for everyone to watch, does not mean he was not there. He could very well have shown up there in person and just decided to remain unseen to the naked eye. He is God, he can do that if he wants!

He is an unrepentant adulterer, who was in adultery during the entire "revival", has abandoned his family and married his mistress, and now expects to be accepted as a "man of God" despite his lack of contrition or turning away from his sins. I fully believe in the grace of Christ toward the repentant, but Todd is a deceiver who is being deceived himself - unless he repents, he will perish.

Their prophecies are never wrong. A friend of mine prophecied that my wife and I would be pregnant in 3 months and the baby would be healthy. It took over 5 months, and the fetus miscarried (it wasn't healthy). His prophecy somehow got modified to mean that when my wife actually had a baby it would be healthy, the time frame didn't seem to be a part of the prophecy anymore. He STILL thinks he's a prophet. These people ignore the bible, and you can't reason with them.

The scriptures say that no word of scripture or prophecy was a matter of ones own interpretation, but were the very words of God. Scripture and prophecy are EXACTLY what God wants them to be. That's why God warned us in Deut 18:20-22 how to recognize a false prophet and so not be decieved.

I would say he got carried away a bit but I would not say He is all about lies and deception. He continually leads people to Jesus so you had better watch what you have to say about him. Prophecy has to be believed and acted upon to come to pass. Man has been given authority over the Earth, so if he does not believe and act on prophecy, it does not come to pass. All the believers there had a part in that prophecy.
BTW, I am neither for nor against Todd Bentley, just offering some insight to how prophecy works.

You don't understand prophecy. In the bible, if prophecy doesn't come true, the prophet is FALSE. Read Deuteronomy 18:20-22. The actions of men AREN'T EVEN MENTIONED! If what you say is true, prophecy is USELESS as a sign, and NO PROPHET could be held accountable.

Consider this. It was prophesied to me that my wife would conceive within 3 months (the "prophet" knew we were trying.) It was also "foretold" that the fetus would be born healthy, and we were not to worry, God had it in hand. It took almost 6 MONTHS, with NO LACK OF TRYING on MY part, believe me!We were happy. After 6 WEEKS, the fetus MISCARRIED! Despite the timing errors and the death of the fetus, the prophet STILL thinks he was accurate.

His reaction was "Keep trying, the word of the Lord doesn't come back void." 1 week before the prophecy, my wife and I were praying for confirmation of modern prophecy, since we were new to all this, and didn't want to miss God if He was moving in all this. God used this event to open our eyes. We were genuinely hoping for confirmation of all this, but God showed us the truth. If Deut 18:20-22 is true, then my friend is a false prophet. If you think otherwise, you are deceived.

Prophets have accountability, but so do the hearers. I cannot be held accountable for your decisions and you cannot be held accountable for mine. A person can choose to NOT believe the prophet.
Consider Namaan in 2 Kings 5 who didn't like the word of the prophet, but when he chose to believe it and follow it (he seemed to do this begrudgingly), then his obedience caused the healing. What do you suppose would have happened if he refused to believe and obey?

That was a conditional word, not a predictive sign. Consider that Abraham LAUGHED at God, and the prophecy STILL came true. Sometimes a prophecy has conditions, and they are known. Other times, God gives a prediction as a sign. If mans actions affected EVERY prophecy, and the conditions weren't known, prophecy is USELESS as a sign, and Deut. 18:20-22 couldn't be applied. That's how we can test Hinn's prophecy. The homos never repented as a community, and the weren't destroyed. Hinn is FALSE.

Besides, it's completely safe to say that you have missed the mark more than once in your life. I can say the same about mine.
It should appear evident that prophets miss it once in a while. The fact is, they are brave enough to step out and do what they can to get someone delivered. That's a lot more than the critics do.

Sorry, I'm involved in a discussion on a Hinn video as well. Hinn prophecied falsely about homos, Fidel Castro, and a few other things. People STILL think he's a prophet TOO!

However, it only "appears evident" that prophets miss it every once in a while if you go by the modern prophetic movement, in which the prophets miss it MOST of the time, and they don't HAVE to be right for people to listen to them.

I agree that I have more to learn about prophecy and maybe we can learn more from each other by looking at all sides of this.
Let's consider what you said up against the things that Jesus himself said.
Jesus cried over Jerusalem over the prophets being stoned. He also said "let him who is without sin cast the first stone."
What do you think? Does that make it impossible to stone someone now? Doesn't it imply that Jesus wept over the fact that prophets were stoned?

Jesus wasn't saying NOT to stone anyonbe EVER. The people bringing the woman before Jesus were trying to TRICK Jesus. If they were following the law and the woman was "caught in the act" as the passage says, BOTH were to be brought before the PRIESTS, and THE WHOLE COMMUNITY were to stone them. Jesus was evading their trap. The stoning would have been unlawful. Jesus wept over Jerusalem in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PASSAGE. Do you understand the idea of context? (Not trying to be rude)

My bible notes that earlier versions don't contain this passage. Also, if you remove the passage, the chapter makes more sense and flows better, so it's an obvious addition, but that doesn't mean the story's not true. It's most likely not scripture, but it's certainly possible. It's worth arguing, simply because many people use the story to support various heresies such as "God's anti-death penalty" and "you can't judge anyone". Even if TRUE, the story doesn't actually support those heresies.

I personally believe Bentely is being persecuted for his immaturity and lack of order and sobriety, but none of these things will disqualify you from God's service. To read this prophecy publically is error. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Time to reassess the mistakes and take a mature and orderly approach. We're all in training. Samson did many foolish things with his miracle ministry but he was still God's judge. Check out "A Step Into Deliverance" by T. Pugh. It's a riveting autobiography!

It's easy to misunderstand someone when you only watch a small clip of something. People do it to the Bible all the time. If Todd is a fraud, he's repeatedly giving glory to Jesus for what's happening there, from his own lips. As a human, I agree he could be making some mistakes, but if people are being healed, delivered, and saved because God chose to use an imperfect person, it wouldn't be the first time or the last.
