  • Is that a young Mentzer at 2:30?

  • @ParrryHottter No lol wtf.

  • AND TOOK TESTOSTERONE .

  • 2:54.....flu shots?

  • rocky bruch

  • i gave whindsoull a thumbs up just because you cried about it ascend

  • Bjorn Ricky Bruch, you will be missed. You were an athletic monster!

  • "Pills here!"

  • Last 30 seconds is how I got kicked out of Planet Fitness. :(

  • @WhindSoull lol trying to get thumbed up you fucking little Youtube piece of shit? After replying to your post I am going to thumb it down and mark it as spam. Eat shit.

  • @AscendTheStaircase Dude, why are you so angry. That comment was pretty funny, especially if you've ever experienced Planet Fitness and their stupid "no judgement zone" where you get in trouble if you even grunt while lifting.

  • @AscendTheStaircase

Oh no! Not a thumbs down!

  • This is from an old swedish documentary / movie about Ricky,

  • what was this from?

  • Rip

  • Clear skies...

  • vila i frid ricky!

  • 321 vitaminpiller/dag?

  • RIP :/

  • This and other clips from the documentary about Ricky are easily among the most motivating training clips on YouTube. Ricky was hardcore long before hardcore became an overused cliché.

Ricky was and will remain an inspiration to strength and power-oriented athletes and for many others as well, for his courage in blazing his own path in life and being true to himself.

    Rest in peace, big man.

  • rip ricky

  • Wtf is wrong with this guy?

  • I wonder how much food he downed being 6'6" 310 lbs and training like that. At least 8000+ calories a day.

  • Love it.

    Intensity FTW.

I get so sick of seeing pussies in the gym with their BS perfect-form breathe-in-breathe-out high reps with a weight that's waaaay too fucking light for them.

If you want to get shit done, you've got to be roaring like a beast under the heaviest fucking weight you can possibly manage that day, like good ol' Ricky at 2:25.

    That's how it's fucking done.

  • 1:37 xD

  • Greatest exit of all time!!

  • That was the most fantastic set of leg raises of all time. After my next gut busting set of anything, I intend to swat down any low hanging objects, throw a plate in my blind rage, and charge into the night.

  • We don't see the steroids...!!!???

  • At 1:47 he starts talking about the various vitamins then says "that is were the recovery is, the salts" does anyone know if he is referring to salts as in minerals (magnesium etc) or is he still going on about the specific B vitamins from earlier in his sentence?

  • @TheKrypteia

Probably the latter, although given the amount of vitamins and minerals he took either would be true.

  • @Draykid Thanks. With some current reading I`m getting to the opinion that he`s probably referring to the use of minerals (magnesium etc) which get lost through sweating & help with settling the CNS & relax the muscles post training.

  • This documentary is great. Fascinating person, in every way.

  • I would love to see someone go to Bally's or LA Fitness, do some weighted leg raises while screaming, smash the lights, and then dart out of the gym screaming some more.

  • The man was an animal, great inspiration for never giving up.

  • Comment removed

  • mega epic ricky!-great

  • Its like Elephant skin 2:54

  • the man is a god.

  • 1:34 is the best part.

When the vitamins fly all over the place.

  • Thats the way its done!

  • Well take it easy now, the quote was made famous by Hunter S Thompson. The song you're thinking of is based on his novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

  • most epic end ever

  • 0:04 = Spartan

  • What music,?

  • 3:25 That was the best ending ever done for a workout

  • He who makes a beast of himself, gets rid of the pain of being a man.

  • Avenged Sevenfold, my brother :) I live by that code!

  • Maybe this has been discussed but his weightlifting seems really unusual, why doesn't he just do normal olympic lifting style training for power development? The curls and stuff seem really random.

  • curls and curl like powerclean will help throw discus further and he knows what he is doing,.,

  • Most of the throwers I've seen train normal olympic lifting, no curls. Isn't the power transmitted to the discus all coming from the hips? The arm isn't bending.

  • Several Great Discus Throwers do the "Cheat like hell curl." In this sort of Curl, there is only triple extension of the hips, knees, and ankles. That's how the movement ends - at full triple extension. In a Power Clean you must dive under the bar after triple extension - which is something you definatly don't do in a discus throw.

Also, the arm position in a cheat curl is more akin to a discus throw than the arm position in a power clean.

  • Cool, thanks for the explanation, makes sense.

  • Ricky personally said he did them because he thought his biceps looked sweet in the release :) Appearently it has a dubble cause then!

  • This is the man that inspired The Incredible Hulk

  • LOL!!!!!! the ending is EPIC!!!!!!

  • its 66lbs = 30kg

  • One of the very best swedish sports documentary!-captures rickys total determination to set the record!LIKE HE SAYS IN THE BEGINNING:ITS GOLD I WANNA HAVE!!!

  • ROFL!

    "Thats where recovery is...the salts!"

  • The ending is just pure gold.

  • it is indeed: 'John, I didnt break the world record; do you want to hear my averages for this year'

    LOL awesome moment

  • ragnarmikom2gi92 , I know him very well. And he´s NOT dead.

  • He's not dead fyi

  • lol pwnd

  • i wish there were more vids on this guy

  • Hmm, its confusing, because some elekio blue plates appear to be different weight to others

Anyhoo, I have just had a quick look, and would say that ricky jerked 160kg on the DVD, wouldnt be surprised if he had ever done 400lb+ tbh, the guy was a beast

  • where do u find this dvd?

whats the name of the DVD?

  • Its called 'The Soul Is Greater Than The World'and is available from John Powells website; if you google 'john powell associates' you can buy it there

  • what I can do is have a look at the DVD, and see what the numbers on the olympic discs are

Check back later, Ill try and grab some more info

  • Bench

    squat

    jerk behind the head

    clean

    ...

  • Hmm, I would suggest the footage of him (if you havent seen the full DVD, I think it can be seen in one of the vides on youtube) he appears to jerk from behind the neck approx 140KG/308lbs might be more

He also appears to be doing HEAVY cheat curls for a single rep with what again looks to be 300lbs plus

In the DVD, you can see him bench pressing on some kind of hydrolic machine made by Elekio (where blood spews from his mouth) if I recall the numbers were up around the 500lb mark

  • do you know his weigth lift performance ( record )

    thanks !

  • in what lift?

  • I love this movie! It gets me psyched every time I see it.

  • I wonder how high his blood pressure shot up in these scenes.

  • no thats a man

  • that's usually how I end my workouts too

  • lololololol

  • He lives in Brösarp in a house where he collects videotapes and is working on a movie.

  • Sorry, Blentarp, not Brösarp

  • Ricky Bruch, a true swedish hero!

I just love his comittment. Anyone knows what he do today?

  • where can you get his movie. the soul is greater than the world. i just cant find it

  • Ricky is one of my idols. I have read his book Gladiatorns kamp three times don't know if it exist in English but to all you swedish friends i can recomend it. by the way what's the name of the song playing in the background

  • aldrig sett filmen "själen är större än världen" ?? ;O

  • Wtf?

  • Vilket jävla slut!! Vilket jävla slut!!

  • In the movie he eats like 500 pills a day, instead of taking shots of real steroids. But after when he wasnt picked for the olympics he started taking shots. But i think everyone took steroids in 1984

  • yeah think so to ^^ at the 80's they didnt know so much about the foof, like we do today

  • This guy actually taught me shot put techniques when I was about 13 years old. I won the district (south east skåne in Sweden) championship needless to say ;)

  • Ricky Bruch FTW

  • woot i saw my father in the background

  • Swedish athlet, one of the best of his time. Lots lots of steroids.

  • wtf

  • I think this guy Ricky Bruch broke the world record but it didnt cout becaouse the disc he used was like 1 ibs to leight

  • Well, he didint get pick to the world tournament when he was at his best shape of his life, he threw longer then everyone else to the takeouts but didint get picked cuz the counci didint like him. If they had to chosen him, who dedicated his life to this, then he would of won so easy that year.

  • He shared the world record once. All valid.

  • HAHAHHAHA

"thats where recovery is..the salts" WTF HAH

  • You can buy the dvd johnpowellassociates.comjust remove spaces....Scroll down the page for dvd...

  • So this guy was on steroids or what?

    Whats his story?

  • are there any more videos of this guy?

  • the links on TT won't work for the torrent where can i download?
