@WhindSoull lol trying to get thumbed up you fucking little Youtube piece of shit? After replying to your post I am going to thumb it down and mark it as spam. Eat shit.
@AscendTheStaircase Dude, why are you so angry. That comment was pretty funny, especially if you've ever experienced Planet Fitness and their stupid "no judgement zone" where you get in trouble if you even grunt while lifting.
This and other clips from the documentary about Ricky are easily among the most motivating training clips on YouTube. Ricky was hardcore long before hardcore became an overused cliché.
Ricky was and will remain an inspiration to strength and power-oriented athletes and for many others as well, for his courage in blazing his own path in life and being true to himself.
I get so sick of seeing pussies in the gym with their BS perfect-form breathe-in-breathe-out high reps with a weight that's waaaay too fucking light for them.
If you want to get shit done, you've got to be roaring like a beast under the heaviest fucking weight you can possibly manage that day, like good ol' Ricky at 2:25.
That was the most fantastic set of leg raises of all time. After my next gut busting set of anything, I intend to swat down any low hanging objects, throw a plate in my blind rage, and charge into the night.
At 1:47 he starts talking about the various vitamins then says "that is were the recovery is, the salts" does anyone know if he is referring to salts as in minerals (magnesium etc) or is he still going on about the specific B vitamins from earlier in his sentence?
@Draykid Thanks. With some current reading I`m getting to the opinion that he`s probably referring to the use of minerals (magnesium etc) which get lost through sweating & help with settling the CNS & relax the muscles post training.
I would love to see someone go to Bally's or LA Fitness, do some weighted leg raises while screaming, smash the lights, and then dart out of the gym screaming some more.
Well take it easy now, the quote was made famous by Hunter S Thompson. The song you're thinking of is based on his novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
jag vill lära mig att pressa mig under träningen lika hårt som han. Han har blivit min nya förebild! En gång blödde han näsblod medan han körde bänkpress, det kan man kalla för mäktigt!!
Maybe this has been discussed but his weightlifting seems really unusual, why doesn't he just do normal olympic lifting style training for power development? The curls and stuff seem really random.
Most of the throwers I've seen train normal olympic lifting, no curls. Isn't the power transmitted to the discus all coming from the hips? The arm isn't bending.
Several Great Discus Throwers do the "Cheat like hell curl." In this sort of Curl, there is only triple extension of the hips, knees, and ankles. That's how the movement ends - at full triple extension. In a Power Clean you must dive under the bar after triple extension - which is something you definatly don't do in a discus throw.
Also, the arm position in a cheat curl is more akin to a discus throw than the arm position in a power clean.
One of the very best swedish sports documentary!-captures rickys total determination to set the record!LIKE HE SAYS IN THE BEGINNING:ITS GOLD I WANNA HAVE!!!
Hmm, its confusing, because some elekio blue plates appear to be different weight to others
Anyhoo, I have just had a quick look, and would say that ricky jerked 160kg on the DVD, wouldnt be surprised if he had ever done 400lb+ tbh, the guy was a beast
Its called 'The Soul Is Greater Than The World'and is available from John Powells website; if you google 'john powell associates' you can buy it there
Hmm, I would suggest the footage of him (if you havent seen the full DVD, I think it can be seen in one of the vides on youtube) he appears to jerk from behind the neck approx 140KG/308lbs might be more
He also appears to be doing HEAVY cheat curls for a single rep with what again looks to be 300lbs plus
In the DVD, you can see him bench pressing on some kind of hydrolic machine made by Elekio (where blood spews from his mouth) if I recall the numbers were up around the 500lb mark
Ricky is one of my idols. I have read his book Gladiatorns kamp three times don't know if it exist in English but to all you swedish friends i can recomend it. by the way what's the name of the song playing in the background
In the movie he eats like 500 pills a day, instead of taking shots of real steroids. But after when he wasnt picked for the olympics he started taking shots. But i think everyone took steroids in 1984
This guy actually taught me shot put techniques when I was about 13 years old. I won the district (south east skåne in Sweden) championship needless to say ;)
Well, he didint get pick to the world tournament when he was at his best shape of his life, he threw longer then everyone else to the takeouts but didint get picked cuz the counci didint like him. If they had to chosen him, who dedicated his life to this, then he would of won so easy that year.
