This is very similar to the Cotton Eyed Joe we do in Texas, but different music. The traditional Cotton Eyed Joe sounds more like the version by Isaac Payton Sweat.

Yes! It always surprises me how hard it is to find the right way to do this dance.

This is such a tame version though, wow. The way I've danced it is much faster and more violent. I actually broke my nose when I was about 11 doing this dance, when I forgot to go backward, lol.

The dance is choreographed with left foot leading on cross-over/kick and polka steps. Right foot lead seems to take over for us as well! We dance to Cotton Eyed Joe by Isaac Payton Sweat!

Now finally a video how I know to do it! Of course we do it much faster, almost at a dead run. And we are in lines of maybe 5 or 8 people, but at least it is a circle and the same footwork!
