Absolutely one of the best scenes. You can't help but feel joy along with the characters. GREAT scene in a wonderful movie. Love T.B. Player's look as he comes out of the Army/Navy store and screams. Oh man this is, for me, a real 'feel good' movie. Thank You, Tom Hanks.
guys, anyone knows the song that Guy was listening to earlier?? when his dad told him to stop eating the burger. the slow song. thanks guys! appreciated... :)
@PovZ123 Back then transistor radios had small earphone that fit into your ears, much like today's earbuds. But there was only one earpiece. (Sorry for the double post)
Our band The Red Coats' song Red-Light Revolver just played on the radio for the first time this thursday and it was Every bit as exciting and emitional and it just reminded me so much of this scene.
I'm from Erie, and Tom Hanks did our little town proud with this movie. The one thing that would've made it perfect is if the premier had been at the beautiful Warner Theater on State Street in Erie when the movie first came out. I love the fact that Hanks remembered our town from his travels as a young actor.
I had to watch this movie in my chorus class. I really didn't want to, but when it was over, I wanted to watch it over and over and over again! I love this movie! Lenny (the one who kissed the life size cut out) is my all time favorite in this movie! Comment back a thumbs up if you agree :)
"comes in beige, classic white....avocado" ahahahhaa cracks me up because he's doing something so mundane right before their song hits the radio. one of my favorite movies!!
@ponyyak68 Been a bass player for damn near 40 years also...DID happen to me. 1973. Driving down the freeway, local station played record my band recorded..never sold big or went anywhere, but I did live this scene in real life. Was driving with the guitar player at the time, we were yelling out the car window at the other drivers....one of the most memorable moments of my life. Career has been downhill ever since though.
As a person who lives in Orange, it pisses me off to this day that I didn't watch the location filming in downtown Orange. Could have seen Charlize Theron and Liv Tyler in person.
just had my first song played on the radio today without knowing they were gonna play it, and this is exactly what happened! except that im not in a band and i was with a few friends at my house when my phone started ringing and i turned on the radio! best feeling in the world!
Movies scenes don't get better than this. Great movie! Steve Zahn (Lenny) stars in the new HBO series, 'Treme.,' which premiers tonight. Celebs get treated really well here in NOLA - "Hollywood South."
This is the best scene of any movie EVER! I love Faye at the beginning - putting stamps on envelopes, then pauses suddenly, widens her eyes, taking the stamp out of her mouth and suddenly SCREAMS HER HEAD OFF and runs down the street laughing like a madwoman. This movie is too adorable for words.
This scene ALWAYS makes me laugh out loud and get tears in my eyes at the same time. It creates a completely unique and overwhelming emotion in me. It involves the bittersweet and a strange mix of wisdom & naiveté. I wish I could explain it but it's so complex. This movie and this scene are very special to me.
everytime i watch this i always look out for when he bumps into the cardboard cut out and it's slowly falling over before he grabs it and kisses it. that couldn't have been more perfect. hahah i actually remember i noticed it the very first time i saw the movie and thought 'fuck he just knocked that over, catch it, catch it!' and wasn't expecting that violent kiss at all.
I've seen this scene many times, but never noticed until now that "the bass player" wipes his feet on the mat after coming in the door. Nice little touch.
