You need to organize every time you see police brutality on the news. The people need to show up at the city managers office mayors office and complain. Ask about filling a recall petition of mayor if some thing is not done about police excess use of force.

When has protesting using perfect behavior ever worked? Protesting is in itself an act of civil disobedience. Marching on Washington while people are working in their offices isn't exactly the optimum time either. Walk-out protests (and sit-in protests, etc) are effective because they break the rules and make a statement while doing it. Their protest had to do with budgets at their school, so their school during the school day is literally the optimum time to take a stand on that stuff.
I will agree all day long that there is Police Brutality, Police Corruption, Misconduct, Racism, etc etc. This happens all over the country, probably on a daily basis. But, I dont feel that THIS is brutality, because the Police clearly raised their level of force accordingly to what the students were doing. Police dont have to match the force they are taking on, they can raise the level to whats necassary to affect an arrest. The incident would have never happend, if they stayed in school !

You need to organize every time you see police brutality on the news. The people need to show up at the city managers office mayors office and complain. Ask about filling a recall petition of mayor if some thing is not done about police excess use of force.
Also go to the city councils meting. When some on council says the mayor or city manager is in charge of the police. Tell them they write, or approve the laws, policy, sop code of conduct. They budget the cops.

When has protesting using perfect behavior ever worked? Protesting is in itself an act of civil disobedience. Marching on Washington while people are working in their offices isn't exactly the optimum time either. Walk-out protests (and sit-in protests, etc) are effective because they break the rules and make a statement while doing it. Their protest had to do with budgets at their school, so their school during the school day is literally the optimum time to take a stand on that stuff.

I will agree all day long that there is Police Brutality, Police Corruption, Misconduct, Racism, etc etc. This happens all over the country, probably on a daily basis. But, I dont feel that THIS is brutality, because the Police clearly raised their level of force accordingly to what the students were doing. Police dont have to match the force they are taking on, they can raise the level to whats necassary to affect an arrest. The incident would have never happend, if they stayed in school !

However, Truency IS against the law, and that is what the students did when they chose to leave the school. The Police were forced to put hands on the students when they would not comply with a lawful order to come to them. Even if they felt the Police were wrong by stopping them, there is a place and process to take care of misconduct, but yelling, swearing and being disorderly in public is not part of the process. Justin and so many here seem to think that any order any time under any circumstance "because I say so" is just fine. first this problem could of be solved by simply following instructions by the police officers. when a police officer says put your hand behind your back you put your hands behind your back resisting them cause them to shove slam till you let them cuff you.

@mike3180350 What kills me is these people don't understand the "cause and effect". It's so simple. Like people that complain about speeding tickets...don't speed you won't get ticketed and then you have more beer money. I challenge all these people that complain about excessive force to do a ride along with a big city police department and see first hand what they have to deal with on a case by case basis.

@1justen Just what I want in a cop, someone who equates speech and demonstrating with breaking laws, knows how to deescalate tensions send kids home without violence. In case you haven't noticed, sitting around and whining about how people reject a militaristic police state isn't solving anything. You should work to get us all to say Sieg Heil, make it clear we have to follow orders or be beaten or killed, that's "making a difference!" You prove my point. Tragic that you don't see it.

@drdanj He tried to talk to her and she said "I DON'T GIVE A FUCK"! Those are not the words of someone that cares about peaceful compromise. Gut check time for you-go read the police report and go to the justice center and ask a police academy instructor to explain the "escalation of force" and this video.Go to law school or become a cop to serve the community BUT you won't because your fat, lazy and it's easier to complain in your own home than go out and learn the truth.
