Since this is a BA racing deal I got a challenge for this combo since I used to live out there I know the vibe. Leave the port of Oakland where yall all dragrace and meet at top of Redwood Rd. or Skyline around Merritt college to Castro Valley for a time attack to Starbucks...Domestic stuff will slip and slide to the lose (by not just a fender or a length) but like 20-40 seconds, then you will see why loud and obnoxious isnt so fast n furious.
ive got an evo and a tbss the best of both worlds...(engines) ive driven gto/monaros also. Evo is the funnest car to own. you cant spend your way out of heavy and into nimble w 3900+ lb vehicles. freeway drag racing is only 1 metric to judge a vehicle.
@clbd39 Wouldn't have matter, the Evo would have had the jump, but the GTO's raw power would have taken somewhere in 3rd gear into 4th. Don't hate on me though, I'm an Evo and import kinda guy, but the GTO here (and it's excellent driver) are clear winners.
@KrGsMrNKusinagi0 I kinda agree, but here is why I might not. I used to own a 400 RWHP 05 torrid red 6 speed GTO. My brother had a true 300 AWHP EVO 8, we went to the strip many times and on very rural back roads and ran um. 99% of the time he would get the jump on me but toward the end of 2nd gear start of 3rd, I would start reeling him in, by 4th I would be infront pulling.
@600hpviper A lot of that comes from the fact that the motor in the GTO manages the air/fuel better and lets face it, has more torque. I love Evos, I have one tattooed on me, but it is still a 2.0L inline-four, which, regardless of make, are gutless engines. Now, your brother could have pulled a few simple tricks to beat you, but it would have cost him a couple grand to do it, most notably an exhaust system with back pressure and an aftermarket wastegate ;)

@bienmendoza More downforce doesn't give more speed. It's down force, not forward force... It basically acts like more weight which means more grip. Faster you go, the more down force, means you get more grip. It's for cornering, racing in a straight line it doesn't help. Methanol dragsters actually need the wing, since they make like 20x the power these cars are making. (8500-10,000hp) and the wing creates like 12,000 lbs of downforce at 300+MPH
@kushiikiidlx Nice Freudian slip, but it happens..."b" and "n" ARE right next to each other on the keyboard. However, a bigger motor isn't the correct cure for turbo lag. In this particular video situation, the driver should have brake boosted, which would have reduced the turbo lag, as well as remain in a higher gear, rather than a lower one. The lower gear gave him top end power, but no low end grunt. Brake boost and a gear higher, I bet he would have "won"...maybe... ;)

@CJAEY Hate to break it to you, but fitting an aero kit (which is basically another word for ricey bodykit) then removing the stock aero (ie the spoiler, which is actually functional, unlike the bumper and sideskirts, which are full of vents that lead to nowhere) is a bit like making a gourmet meal, then dumping loads of salt and pepper on it. You've basically just made it worse. Also, cost is irrelevant. A Veilside Fortune kit for an RX-7 costs over 10k, but it's still fucking rice.

Doesn't that just defeat the purpose of having the kit in the first place, since you've made it worse than it was by doing more? There's a reason that spoiler was added at the factory, because it helps the car perform like it should. It's why it was added to the rally cars back in the 90's and early 00's. So for that, the bodykit is rice. It's sacrificed performance for asthetics.
The Voltex aero kit is proven. Look up Cyber Evo like I said. They ran test on the wind tunnel and there is improvement from stock. I know this is Algier's Evo and hes from my area. He actually does have a Voltex wing mounted on his car now. This video is very old and he was still building his car then.
@CJAEY Does this guy actually track his car or use it in anyway that the added aero would prove useful? Seems like a lot of money to drop on something that wouldn't make any difference on the street (which is where this video was taken). It still looks terrible though, just looks like a generic Autozone POS bodykit that you'd see on any other Civic, so the added aero boost against looking like an enormous tool wouldn't really be worth it, IMO.
It's you're opinion and I respect that. I am not a huge fan of aero kits either. Also im not too sure he tracks his car but I know its quick because I know people have ran against him on 101. Other than that, i'm not sure how his car handles.

There's nothing behind your fender that requires cooling, and last time I checked, the jacking point of your car doesn't get hot at high speeds. They're pointless, and the fact that it's dressed up as a race car when it's not a race car = rice. Christ, it's not even installed properly. Panel gaps everywhere. It's just terrible looking.

I used to own an LS2 GTO. I loved it! beautiful, had it's muscle car luxury, and powerful V8 engine... but my taste changed now... I'm more interested in the "whole package" such as AWD and superior handling and tight corner taking... I'm no longer out to be the fastest thing. IMO the EVO is one ugly car. Very plain, nothing much to see ... but I'm in the market for an EVO IX...it's what it can do that astounds me. Wish me luck on finding a stock one!

thats not a 400hp evo... At least not at the wheels.. GTOs are heavy even at 500hp it would not beat a 400 wheel power evo due to weight.

Look up Cyber Evo if you have to.
