In international wrestling during the olympic years you have to go over seas and wrestle in tournaments and usually you have to place in the top three or so. He went to one tournament and didn't qualify his weight for the olympics, and then they sent Jim Gruenwald to the next qualifier and he got injured, then Joe went to the last qualifier and ended up taking fourth I think. So the US was not allowed to wrestle that weight class at the olympics.

I'm new to greco so bare with me...If you throw them out of bounds is it considered a push-out and get the extra point too or just the throw points?

It depends...if you throw them out of bounds but expose their shoulders to the mat, then you'll get 3 points for the throw and no additional point for the push out. If you get a throw but don't expose, you'll probably just get one for a push out. A lot of it is up to the refs discretion.

schrupp, i hav a question for ya, i play football and wrestle, next wrestling season im gonna be my team starter at 189, but im about 217 right now, if the football team goes far in the play-offs, what r some good tips for getting a lot of weight off fairly quickly

Eat as little as possible...haha. My junior year I weighed 212 and cut to 189. I cut that off in two weeks. It sucked, but once my body got used to it I actually came in weighing about 187 at weigh-ins. Just work out extra. Maybe use a plastic suit the last day or two.

I remember when other wrestlers would beat joey in my senior year at Lake View High School in chicago. One thing about joey I do remember was he had two thing we didn't.  Heart and determination to win. He never stopped and it goes to show. Hard work WINS!!!

Ha! Joey B. from Lakeview High School! I wish he had tape in there of him in his senior year at 103 lbs. LAUNCHING Danny Reuttiger or Providence Catholic with a text book lateral drop to almost stick him at the end of the second period. He was something else.
