The young man had a right to ask his question even if he wanted to inform the audience of the book before asking the question.
Security was standing in his "space" and trying to interrupt him before he could fully ask the question. Three times the security team interrupted.
The officers' ego was insulted in front of the audience to the point they felt they had to use more physical force to reclaim what small dignity they held. I don't think the tazer was necessary.

The campus is private property, they decided the blowjob comment was over the top, and wanted to escort him out. From there, he called for help. (Starting a riot, that's an offence.) To reply to those who say "never resist the cops" Does anyone know what happened in Germany during the 1930s and 40s? People chose NOT to resist the police. When u examine this incident, do not pick and choose facts. U have to look at the situation from start too finish before u formulate an opinion. For example: a man may kill another man... this would be considered a crime by most anyones standards. However if u were to look closer into the murder, u might realize that the "murderer" was really defending himself. The first crime was committed by the police, they threw his freedom of speech away. That is NOT there decision to make.

Well you can eat you're gvmnt brand food, made specialy for you so you get enough nutrients, and work you're gvmnt job chosen to fit your skillset, and you can have your gvmnt health care set up by people apparently smarter than you but I preffer my rights.

Heres an example that you may be able to comprehend. You're childs schools teacher is incompitant. You come and say something about it in a loud tone because it upsets you, and they arrest you and you resist. And then you get tased. Your rights were violated, and therefore you shouldnt have been arrested in the first place, and all harm to you due to that wrongfull arrest is also the fault of the police. PERIOD.

That's not the point. I already said yes the police violated his freedom of speach. I get that. And in fact he is widely known for being a prankster and instigating. So yes the police had a right to arrest him if he was being unruly and inciting a riot. Now, I don't think that's truly the case as far as inciting a riot but the police have every right to arrest him for that if they want to. That's what courts are for. To decide if you were rightfully arrested.

He deserved to get tased. He was resisting arrest and they even warned him that if he didn't roll over he was going to get tased. And did he roll over? No. So what did he get? Tased. Freedom of speach has nothing to do with why he got tased. Maybe they weren't right to arrest him but that's besides the point. If the police decide to arrest you then you go along with it and let a lawyer deal with it. Not resist them. They will win.

What do you mean thats beside the point? If they didnt wrongfully arrest him in the first place he wouldnt have had to resist anything. If the police tried to take away my freedom of speach, I sure as hell would resist. Even if I knew I was gonna be tasered.

Well if you knew you were going to be tased then you deserved it and you don't get to cry about it. My point is that yes obstructing someone's right to freedom of speach is wrong but you don't fight the cops. You let a lawyer or someone else deal with it. He fought them, they warned him, and he got tased. He wanted to act like such a smartass in front of everyone and a tough guy and he got what he deserved.

I wonder if I asked John Kerry a slightly stupid and slightly awkard question, would I get tasered? Apparently when my teachers told me there were no stupid questions, they were lying. There are stupid questions, and when they are directed at John Kerry you get tasered untill you scream like a little girl. The public school sytems need to inform students of this, instead of giving them some bull crap about free speach. If you cant catch my sarcasm, the police will most likely tase you too
