  • I just hate how people always cough during a performance . Just rude . Great performance by the way

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! GO SOPRANOS!

  • thumbs up if you're an alto like me :D

    (I' can be a 1 or 2)

  • Huzzah for Soprano 1's!

  • @14ssmith1 Woooo!!!

  • we're doing this for my spring concert i absolutely love this song u guys did awesome!

  • The men's choir at my high school did the T.B.B. version and it's absolutely beautiful.

  • I loathe this song with a burning passion. Performed nicely, just can't stand this song.

  • Go 2nd altos!!

  • This was one of my all time favorite choir songs :) Pretty much only beat out by Z. Randall Stroope's Omnia Sol <3 This group does an excellent job!

  • i sang this song in my high school choir this year and i'd have to say this song is one of the most AMAZING songs i've ever heard!! i'm pretty sure it was videotaped when we performed it but i'm not sure..i wish it was on youtube cuz i think it's one of the greatest performances by a high school choir (although i may be biased..) this choir is quite good, though. i agree they're lacking some passion. i believe our choir had loads of passion partly cuz of our FANTASTIC choir director!!

  • I sang this song at my all district choir with richard weymuth and let me say he is AMAZING!!! And he was so passionate about this song. Then I got the oppritunity to go to new york and sing this song with the same conductor...he was amazing. But what I don't like about this choir is....they are not passionate about this song....this song has such a great meaning and they are rushing right through it. they need to feel the song and be inspired by the song...great vocals, not enough passion.

  • This is actually one of the better choirs that have performed this song. I sang this for the first time in '99. i think some of you are missing the point. Regardless of the marking for dynamics, it's all about interpretation. The whole point of this song is "There's no music." In that case, you are getting the "raw" version of this song.. Not knowing what forte or Piano even means. I do agree, at 3:40, it needs to go someplace, especially when coming to the final resolving chord of Awake, Awake!

  • My school's choir has been singing this song for 13 years now it's really good!

  • i love this songgggggg<3

  • Go ALTOS !!!

  • So there are no dynamics? Over-all good sound but not really any dynamic changes on the pianissimo side =|

  • So crazy to see HOW MANY choirs performed this song! This music was comissioned by my high school choir director for our choir to perform at the TMEA conference in 2002. We were the honor choir and it was an amazing experience. I hope everyone felt the same power behind this song that SVHS Mixed Varsity 2002 felt while performing it live for the first time :)

  • for an highschool choir this is really great! i love it! i watch it everyday & use it to help me wit 2nd alto! :)

  • This is a very good recording, technical wise. I guess I would've liked to seen this sang more musically.

  • Texas Girls Choir is doing this! Amazing song!

  • Me and my highschool choir are doing this song! :DD our concerts in 2 weeks from tomorrow ^-^

  • We sang this song in high school about 10 years ago. It is one of my favorites, and this is the best rendition I have been able to find on here. A lot of choirs butcher this beautiful piece. You guys, however, are amazing! Bravo!

  • kind of fast for me at the beginning, but i still loved it<3

  • go bass! (:

  • My Junior High choir is doing this (yes, junior high- please refrain from cringing.)

We ARE doing it with two other junior highs, and the high school. It's all top choirs (eighth grade and then seniors) I'm really excited, because this is my favorite piece so far this year, and its just beautiful.

  • I love the piano part for this song.

  • It would be much better if the dynamics were more pronounced; they seem to be at the same general level the entire time except for the two obvious climaxes. After the second, they start implementing those dynamics -- but it's too late, they're stuck at MF and F for most of the remaining piece of the song.

    Good performance though.

  • they lost a lot of intensity in that song when they started so loud.

  • I can't hear the Tenors, which makes the song.

  • is that girl in the front row sitting on a stool?

  • they're good singers but this song is not meant to be so fast.. i dont like it that fast.. the beginning is supposed to be like depressing and slow... not so fast.. uggghh i cant stand to listen to it so fast it bugs me lol

  • Go Basses! we will sing this for Conference at least thats what Duffy told us

  • remember singing the all male version of this song

  • Way too fast!!! Let things flow a little easier and be easy with the dynamics and this would have worked out much better.

  • 3:30 perfect energy and focus. Balance is amazing.

  • It's all about the Soprano 1s sonnn! ;)

  • @marleen824 helll nawww. sop 2 ftw! lol

  • @Victorian9322

Soprano 1s are like Mariah Carey status, shooooot! x-D

  • seems very rushed at 3:35

  • uugh.. im a sevie going to Wilson Jr High in manty, wi and holy HELL is that song hard to do when you have ur sinuses plugged up xD jeez.. and even when ur an icky sop, its difficult xD but i got it now :3 love this song.. t'was beee-a-u-teemuss

  • rgar was pretty good :)

  • Hmm... really good on the whole. But the whole time I was distracted by whatever tenor it was that absolutely does not blend O_O

  • love the song...but im soooo glad our instructor cut out some of this....

  • wow.. i remember singing this in high school choir....

  • our ionia high school choir got ones at our michigan state choral festival this choir and our choir sound almost identical its funny!Great job!

  • this is a really good sounding group. i just wish that there was more emotion... and more shape... and like better endings to words. but really... this concert choir sounds better. ohhh... and like more contrast in dynamics would have made it like even more amazing.

my choir is doing this for our last concert of the year... and everytime we sing it, it gives me goose bumps. this one does too.... but.... not as much.

  • sang this song for a choir concert recently

  • Go Soprano 2s!

  • @Victorian9322

It's all about the Soprano !s sonnn! ;)

  • This is the kind of thing I want to sing.

My school's choir is doing Glee arrangements of stuff. :/

  • @isyouafish That must suck, since all of the Glee stuff is ridiculously simple...

  • I love this song. Its my favorite one we're doing in my high school choir. You guys did i a really epic job. In all the other versions you cant hear the guys, but theyre deffinatly here with yoiu guys, and you can hear the second soprano not awesomly ^_^ (prolly cause ima second)

  • tennors unite around the world!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great job. I've never heard it be performed at this tempo. Very quick for what I've ever heard. My choir did this, the tenor 1 part is amazing. Good interpretation.

  • THANK YOU! I have, literally, been digging through YouTube for 45 minutes looking for a great recording of this (in terms of recording and vocal quality), preferably SATB, but I was willing to take a men's recording. Thank you for giving me a copy of this amazing song I can share

  • Awesome ! from Century HS, MN

  • ......Wow You Guys Gave Me Goosebumps. Great Job. :)

    P.S. Loved The Mixed Formation.

  • you all did an excelent job. i'm a senior baritone at my high school and we are doing this song, a little loud in the beginning though other than that awesome job. STRONG BASSES!!!

  • Pretty nice.. haha. :D The altos are pretty good.. Our choir, Chavez High in Stockton is doing this song too^^ It's a little bit too fast in the beginning, but really good.. :]

  • Isn't it supposed to be Pianississimo in the begining?

  • @LifeStinxp yep.

  • @LifeStinxp it depends on the conductor and the choirs capabilities ya know but yeah its written as pianissimo in the beggining

  • @mufuayfuay111 It sounds so much better when its pianissimo at the beginning, it highlights the part where is says "No alleluia, not one hosanna, no song of love, no lullaby"... It's ashamed there aren't more people in their choir, or in choir in general. The song speaks of a world with no music and how sad it would be. its such a meaningful song, I wish it could have been done right, I understand that you have to work with what you got, but its not that hard to sing quietly then loudly...

  • My choir actually did two arrangements of this song, and we had the men and a mixed 8 take it to contests last year, they all got a 1. this song just demands it.

  • only comment i would have is to do the ending consonants better. the "D"s and "T"s sounded a little dead

  • I like the mixed formation and the basses are strong..Sopranos were very clean too. Love it and the tenors are rockin the higher notes. Altos held it down too.

  • totally awesome! i wish the choir in my school would have the dedication this one has! our teach is pretty professional but most of the students are lazy and childish! oh well let music live on!!! rock it out !

  • dude this choir is awesome espially from our own little town of louisburg. go wildcats!

  • Haha, I have to sing this for choir.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE thins songg(:

    It gives me goosebumps haha(:

  • This song is great!! My choir is doing it this year, and I'm super excited!!! Go A2s!!!

  • DHS CHOIR OWNS! thats why we get sweepstakes everyyear:)

  • then why has no one heard of it?

  • everyone in the state of texas knows who dhs is, we are a 4A school who participates in 5A. and we still are the best in region

  • i think someone has a bit of a swelled head.

  • lol. i think im allowed to brag some when our choir is the best in state, just saying.

  • i would disagree. Bragging is a sign of a sore loser, even when you've won.

  • and i think singling someone out is a sign of someone who is sore because they have no talent maybe? talk to me when you know what you are talking about

  • You really shouldn't diss someone you don't even know.

PS: Our choir dominated on this song yesterday.

  • This performance would be much more impressive if there had been attention paid to the dynamics, but otherwise very pretty.

  • my mass choir sang this and i luv the song they messed up the chord at 2:15 they couldve done better but other then that they did a pretty good job

  • really good guys...its a gorgeous song and you guys did justice to it..great job and god bless

  • amazing

  • my high school girl's and mixed ensembles are combining for the next concert to sing this song, and i think it's amazing and so beautiful.

we're performing ours much slower though. i love the way you guys did it, but i prefer it slower.

    great song though.

  • hey my acapella choir sing this for our concert

  • I LOVE this song! We sing it at the end of every school year. I want to learn the piano part. I am a soprano in my chorus. We are really good too! From the first time I heard this song, I fell in Love with it! It is now my all time favorite chorus song! I LOVe the melody and the harmony of it! Ny the way you guys are really really good! We are singing this song for our concerts!

  • my choir is doing this for our spring concert. it's my favorite choral piece ever i think. i'm super excited for it!!

this choir sang so beautifully. amazing!

  • That was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My 9th and 10th grade combined chior just adjudicated that piece! We got a superior!! lol I was soooo excited! We took it a little slower than that but that performance was excellent!!

  • Louisburg High School prides themselves in their music

  • Were singing this for our concert in the spring!

  • Amazing performance...we sang this my junior and senior year of HS...and at adjudication...we took it much slower. But this is an amazing performance still

    Go altos!

  • wonderful job!

my choir is singing this for festival and we have 90 some ppl, so its powerful.

this song will always be my favorite.

    good job again!!

  • I'm now a senior in college, but I sang this song in 9th grade, and it was by far my favorite choral piece for all of high school, and is still one of my favorites. Very nice job!

  • I'm in 9th grade right now and we sang this for a forum festival and got gold for this piece. it's my all time Favoritee.

  • Wow, you guys sound fantastic. It is a rare thing to have a high school chior with so much talent. Very well done, this peice brings tears to my eyes every time it is done well.

  • amazing. best on youtube

  • Oh yeah i forgot to mention.. he rocks. :)

  • Thats my middle school choir director too! He teaches at both the high school and middle school!

  • gosh i love this song

me and some other members of my chorus went to county chorus last year and sang it. great song for a soprano i think which i am =D

and these guys are amazingly good =D

  • yup go altos!! we sang this 2 yrs ago and rockd it but she wont let us sing it again for a while no matter how much we beg our director T_T i love it..o ya btw u guys rock!

  • Very nicely performed. Kudos to the director--a lovely interpretation! (I've heard it butchered too many times...sigh...)

  • Haha, you can really hear Sarah and Stephen.

  • that has to be the best I have heard on hear for the longest time!!!! I sang this song some years ago and it still gives me chills

  • i am singing it ttbb in 9th grade in advanced mens at riverwood ttbb sounds better it makes my hair stand on end

  • Very awesome! You guys did really well. It would have been nice to hear more dynamic contrast, however.

  • you guys sing it so much slower than we do

    but this is really pretty!

  • My choir is doing this as well. (GO PGHS!!!) I'm playing the piano for it. At the "awake, awake my soul and sing" section of the song... I find it funny that I, along with the player in this section, have to fake the piano part... most people can't tell... but because I've played it, I can. Very well done alltogether! I hope ours sounds this good... It's TOMORROW!!! GAH!

  • this was amazing!

Our choir is doing this song right now.

I wish I could say that the people(guys) in my class were good but ehhhhhhhhhhh no lol

Our girls are amazing though! Go Altos!

  • Same here! exactly!

    but i'm soprano haha.

    i was assigned a 2nd, but i am really a 1st.

I'm in 9th grade, and the vids i find of this song is of high schools and universities haha :]

  • i did this song in my choir! it was kinda hard to learn.

  • My highschool choir did this song for awhile, just about every senior year, my chorale group at the school Loves this song and so do I. I didn't get into my choir during the time our school sang this song but i love it and I think this is hard to sing and this group does it really well...good job!!!!! =]

  • awesome sound. Very relaxed.

The ending i would have preferred a rallargando on the part that sounds like the NBC theme on the piano. (last three measures) SLOW DOWN the end. To me it would have more of an impact on the ending and on the sound that you produce.

  • this was performed beautifully!!!! my high school choir is doing it this year and i'm super excited because i consider it one of the most beautiful choral pieces out there

  • You consider correctly. Joseph Martin is a musical genius and this piece is easily one of the greatest pieces of choral literature out there. There isn't much that can beat this song

    -Radioplaya

  • the alto part where it goes into the "no alleuia" part is absolutely to die for with the disonace witht the rest of the voice parts

  • this is the best one ive heard. to evaluate why, the sopranos dont overpower everything. it follows the good building block of bass loudest followed by tenor, then alto, and soprano with the least amount of sound. the bass voice give the song a rich sound which is what you should go for

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • the song is better as just a men's chorus piece to be completely honest

  • Wow. I love how you guys did this song. We're performing it in a couple of weeks for Concert Choir. I thought that you could have blended a little bit more; some voices stuck out a lot more than others.

  • interpretation is a little mechanical and metronomic... great choir.

  • Excellent pianist!! (I like the choir's rich tone too!)
