Earthbound had the best SNES soundtrack. It goes from being happy to being some of the creepiest music ever. Even creepier than in Metroid games! Final Fantasy 6 had a very good one too.
one time i went to the water place without all the items, but i had the grab hook, and after i beat the game i went back to get the items. bwahahahahaha......oh that misheared words. if you know super smash bros. brawl, then you will know.
one time i went to the water place without all the items, but i had the grab hook, and after i beat the game i went back to get the items. bwahahahahaha......oh that misheared words.
That's my biggest achievement in this game in terms of sequence breaking is getting through Wrecked Ship and most of Norfair with the Power Suit. I ended up getting the Gravity Suit before fighting Kraid. Also, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, Secret of Mana, Mystic Quest (Rockin' Tunes), DKC series, Earthbound, Yoshi's Island. Super Metroid is pretty low on my list. This is purely subjective though... Lower Norfair is what I consider the best track in this game.
earthbound has a pretty good soundtrack. and of course the other mother games, 1 and 3 have cool songs as well. but theyr arent snes, although the gba is somewhat a portable snes.
It's been nearly two years since you asked for good SNES soundtracks, but I'll list a few that I know are awesome: The Megaman X series, Final Fantasy VI, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Secret of Mana had a few decent songs, Secret of Evermore, Killer Instinct, etc...
You can skip the Grapple Beam and go to Wrecked Ship without it by doing a Shinespark.
Run from the edge of the water in the Missile room to the edge of the water in the next room, that's enough distance to trigger the Speed Booster, and if you position yourself just right, you'll zoom all the way to the Super Missile door that leads into the ship.
I saw that a few days back, and thought it was awesome, and asked myself why I hadn't thought of that myself.
Noobs or unskilled players can actually do unexpected things in this game. I actually ran through several superheated areas without the Varia suit, in fact by the time I found Kraid a fat lot of good he did me.
live-a-live soundtrack is pretty good. nowhere NEAR as good as the metroid games. I love the metroid games so much... i'm almost done /w easy mode on prime. i'm stuck in the 3rd room to the final area. (2nd if you don't count the entrance) damn fisson metroids! >:( there's a bubble in there that spits out 4 at once near the end of the room. I made it that far out of luck... the room sux guys! I ususally can't survive for 5 min! max time surviving there: 2min 14sec... imagine hard mode... O_o
I just love the Red Brinstar music. I wish you would spend forever in the room. I put the Metroid Soundtrack on my Ipod. I really am a big fan of video game soundtracks.
I had to check out OverTheGun's swim through Maridia because of your commentary on it. Wow. I didn't know you could enter the Wrecked Ship the way he did.
I have to say OTG is an elite platformer to be able to do that underwater crap. I SAW that shit just recently, and I was like, "........ holy fuck...... O_O"
There were tonnes of great soundtracks for the SNES, but it's all oppinion. What comes to my mind are mario world&RPG, Zelda, Final Fantasy 6, Secret of Mana and the Donkey Kong Country Series.
I hear your accent changes a bit after imitating Overthegun. Im not sure if you tried to keep the accent slightly or if it just came out natural, but imiation if the highest form of flatery. You certainly hold him in high regards, dont you? Ill have to check out his LPs. From what I gathered before, I thought he was just an expert LP'er, but he sounds very entertaining. Ill make sure to check him out later.
Also, I do have one question. After this, do you plan to LP Fusion? Itd be fitting.
If you want to see a cool run of Super Metroid, search for a user named "Cpadolf0". He's the current TAS record holder, and has came up with some pretty innovative ways to get through the game. Other Super Metroid TAS'ers I recommend is "SaturnTAS" and "yayu50"
For some reason youtube keeps eating my comments. TAS = Tool Assisted Speedrun. It's using slowdowns and savestates to achieve perfection. It's in it's own class in that it don't compete with other regular speedruns, only other TASes.
The Super Castlevania IV soundtrack is also pretty good, in my opinion at least. But I agree, Super Metroid has one of the best if not the best SNES game soundtracks.
Good work on the video and the game. I don't have a good enough memory to remember where to go, so I end up having to explore a lot.

in terms of ambient music I think super metroid really is the cream of the crop.
I think one of the best game sound tracks for SNES was FFVI's sound track.
