  • I saw this video in my school. xD

  • I wish documentaries would stop using sound effects in their videos. It doesn't add anything to the explanation. Other than that, good information.

  • I wish they would be a little more specific; I'm sitting here, like: "No, protein channel in phospholipid bilayer membrane. Ribosome. RNA. Golgi body." not, "peanut-y things." XD but good video anyway if you're not looking for detail. The animations are awesome.

  • 103 throat cells want justice for their brothers.

  • This is WAY to oversimplified to help anyone who is actually learning about viruses in class lol

  • Talk about dumbed down.

  • this crap is disterving

  • OMG!! It was so cool! This helps me alot with my home work!

  • OMG!! It was so cool!

  • Really nice, short and sweet explanation that suceeds in being very clear.

  • thumbs up if you're watching this video because you're sick.

  • The body uses vitamin “d” to destroy viruses. The flu is predominant in the winter because blood levels of vitamin d plummet due to no UVB light. Most symptoms can be eliminated within a couple of hours or less. The cofactors magnesium, boron, and zinc are also very important and can be obtained from leafy greens, nuts, and seeds. Taking a lot of vitamin d with low levels of magnesium can cause a headache. For detailed information, watch Dr. Holick on youtube

  • @hamptonbay100

Do the Nuts, leafy greens and seeds come ready packed with magnesium. Could you take a supplement with your vitamin D supplement to balance this?

Personally I would rather have it naturally in the food I eat which is why I ask.

  • @AnaLoGMunKy I agree. Each chlorophyll molecule (leafy greens) has a magnesium atom in the center. The nuts and seeds have trace minerals such as boron, zinc, and selenium which are important for the body chemistry to work correctly.

  • "When your cells see a virus, they usually kill it." Um, how can you kill something that has never been alive?

  • @iluvdance88

The definition of "alive" is rather loose tho.

  • @iluvdance88 I agree, destroy would be a better word.

  • Planning to be an Epidemiologist. This is funny and interesting.

  • great but where is our defence?

  • @SpartakosLowBap the immune system is our defence, you can see a demo right at the end of the clip

The sad fact about Aids is that it attacks the immune system hence its dangers

  • Wow! This was really interesting

  • A virus is not the cause of disease, it is the result of a diseased body- as disease appears, virus count drops.

A virus is material from a diseased bodys cells breaking away due to toxicity build up.

The fact a `virus` looks engineered- is because it was, by the diseased body it came from. A virus is NOT able to cause a disease in another body- neither can you `catch` a virus, this is MISINFORMATION.

  • After virus, after virus, after virus....

  • Noah made sure he brought them viruses along too... just to save god's creation .. LOL

  • Nasty ass viruses. Leave my shit alone!

  • fuck this gives me the chill

  • the progress bar circle is a virus!

  • time to sneeze on random people

  • Now I just want to wash my hands :O

  • The flu season is now upon us,so I would like to remind everyone to be aware of any symptoms and to see their general practitioners if they show any signs of illness. If you have a high fever and feel nauseous, you could have the flu.

    Have a good day!

  • I almost never get sick=-)

  • ahh my sister made me sick :(

  • ugh i hate the flu ugh cnt breathh ugh lol go away fluuuu

  • Oh dear god.. Why me!

  • Chuck Norris don't get a virus... Virus get a Chuck Norris.

  • the immune system is sick

  • youtube.com/watch?v=8oO6r3BboZs

  • wow this video is terrible, are you trying to explain this to 2nd graders? come on!

  • I don't understand that virus have DNA or RNA?

  • @arnoldasakva Things that cause such diseases are often living organisms, so they eat and reproduce just like many other organisms (the fact they they eat and reproduce, not how they eat and reproduce). So, in order to reproduce, they must have DNA. Like the organisms that cause malaria: they reproduce inside of the mosquitoes, and inside of the organism that gets bitten by the mosquito. You need that DNA to reproduce.

  • Comment removed

  • @arnoldasakva the don't have rna neither dna they use them

  • @arnoldasakva virus can have either DNA or RNA, but not both at once

  • i really like it cos it explains a bit... although it should include biological terms...

  • Heh, very interesting video. Love the sound effects :P

  • Searched up computoer virus. Not flu.

  • @licota11 or my writen exam I am going to say "those peanut looking thingees"

  • Interesting I'm at school!

  • So God build a USB connectors on every cell? :P

  • @Giltr0y Exactly!!!!

  • yayifoundausername they are chemical receptors that help them invade the cell

  • i thought viruses landed on a cell, injected genetic material and proteins into the cell, soon the cell starts producing its genetic material and proteins, new viruses are created and they burst out of the cell, killing it, and those go to infect more cells......?

  • i always like it when i find videos that simplify things for me but this oversimplifies it which refreshes my memory only alittle bit.

  • Locks, Keys, Mini factory, threading nucleic code, copy machines, I don't see how any of this could have evolved.

  • Locks = membrane proteins, welcome comity = cell's vesicle, yellow hot Cheetos thingies at 1:25 are DNAs, command system = cell's nucleus, "big pink molecule" = RNA polymerase, "blue pea-nutty thing" = ribosome. Why do I feel like they are describing it to a 10 years old kid.

  • lol I felt like a 2 year old while watching this video :/, Y U NO USE PWOPA SIENTIFCAL NAME 4 THE THINGYS

  • And look at the ones that pop up after that: Part 4 of 5 - Episode 1 - Body Snatchers (Body Story)

and Part 5 of 5 - Episode 1 - Body Snatchers (Body Story)

its given with a 'storyline', which i guess is better for storyline purposes, but it describes the process in a much better and detailed way. THEN you'll understand it better.

  • This video is a really different from the ones i've seen... well, if you guys want a better described version of an invasion (reminds you of starwars...), check out this video: copy + paste the name "Part 3 of 5 - Episode 1 - Body Snatchers (Body Story)", it shows in much more detail the invasion of a human body, but fast fwd to 5:02 of that vid so you won't see a separate video about childbirth... (random!)

  • Thanks that wAs great

  • ....repent and trust in Jesus Christ, like you would trust in a parachute. Come on Zultan, get right with God today, because you may have no tomorrow, and if God is right you will be in trouble on Judgment Day. God cannot decide for you and will not be His fault if you decide to not listen to Him. You are the one who decides where you want to spend the rest of your eternity (heaven or hell). Read your Bible daily and obey what it says. God will never fail you.

  • @chafish why are you guys talking about religion on a video that talks about viruses?!

  • ...To punish murderers, rapists and thieves into jail? Thats not evil, but justice, and God will do the same if is a good God. The word of God says; "All liers will have a part in the lake of fire.", but ia not God's will for you. He wants to save you. Thats why He sent His only Son Jesus, to pay your fine with His blood. Isaias says that it pleased God to kill His only Son. Because He is willing to save you Zultan. But there is something you must do to have everlasting life, its to....

  • Zultan, if you are here its because God has been so good and kind that He is willing to save you from His Day of Judgment. He is a God of grace, but alao a God of Justice, and anyone in his right mind will say that justice is right. So, how can a loving God be evil, it makes no sense. This video shows how merciful God is, how He can rescue you from the virus of sin. The virus is getting its justice right before your eyes. Dont you think that a good judge would do the same in the court of law?

  • Samo, Im not sure if that was for me. If it was for me, Im not a jew, but a gentile.

  • Hey Mad, glad you asked.

I give credit to those who do the work like I give the credit to He who created all. :-)

  • Yellow "Keys" = hemagglutinin

Purple "Locks" = sialic acid decorated receptors

"Welcoming Committee" = Clathrin coated vesicles

"Noodley Things" = Viral RNA segments

"Pink Copy Machine" = RNA polymerase

"New Instruction Set" = Viral RNA

    "Blue Peanut Chefs" = Ribosomes

  • @ESORIANO12 2:10 whats that? It has the structure of a proteasome but it obviously can't be

  • @EminemEsteem It's actually the nucleus, like the narrator describes. After translation some of the proteins reenter the nucleus to help export the new viral RNA, while the rest of proteins go straight through the ER and golgi system and are inserted into the cell's plasma membrane. The viruses are assembled at the plasma membrane and then bud off to go infect other cells.

  • @ESORIANO12 You've earned my respect for that

  • @ESORIANO12 lol i took virology last semester and this video feels way oversimplified

  • @ESORIANO12 saved my grade 12 taking bio life

  • Thank you, jews!

  • Vitamin d cures the flu and many other diseases. Your body uses it to make antimicrobial peptides. Low blood levels of vitamin d increase your risk of most diseases. Check out the science before you disagree.

  • the lyosomes wil digestive the virus then eats it.

  • "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." -Heb. 11:3

With this video it confirms how well we are designed. Everything its so well organized, even the invisible things knows what to do in order to make sure our body works properly. If there is creation there must be a Creator. Nothing can make things possible, because nothing or something can't create anything, but someone can, God.

  • @chafish Why bring god into a scientific video?

  • @chafish

This video also says that if there is a God he is an evil monster .

  • Fantastic video, I very like it!

  • This is a viral video...

  • oh so this is what's happening to me right now...fml

  • GROSS WHITE BLOOD CELL NOISE LMFAO

  • oh come now, people, this video is not being patronizing in using

cute names for things. Remember, it's NPR..they are carefully targeting

their target audience...the lowest common denominator...which as of

late, has gotten pretty darn low. Think of it as a verbal limbo..."how low...can you go?"

    .

  • @eaterofclams

they manage to translate from science jargon to stuff people would understand so well :O I've been trying to do that for my frinds for ages and falining.

  • is this aimed at adults?...does anyone else feel that its a bit patronising to use terms like "key" and "lock" and "little blue chef thingy".

  • @iouakick less patronizing and more flat out insulting

  • and guess what? it's all created by accident!

    seriously?!!!!

it's there suppose to be god who made all these scientific rules?

physics, chemistry, biology. it's impossible to be made by accedint or nature! if so by the nature(asuming) who created the nature?! GOD of course.

some athiests are impolitely asking who created god.

well, let's make an example. the rocket inventor was the first one who inveted it.

same applies here, GOD was the first to become! there weren't any sci-rules before him!!

  • @X3BOOODYX2012

If God created this things then he should not be worshiped because he is evil bastard responsible for suffering and death of billions.

  • @zoltan6561

people are responsible for their own deceases. and god didn't creatte these to kill people, but to test their faith.

he created trillions, why not killing billions? he gave you food, money, and everything in this life, and he can take it out, can't he? you're end is death just like me and any other creature. god won't ask you how did you die, but what have you done in your life.

  • @X3BOOODYX2012

God didn't gave my anything, money is invented by humans, money is store of value you need to work to get money it doesn't fell from the sky. you need to grow your food or buy it with money that you earned .

It doesn't matter if he created trillions and he is testing how good ass kissers they are he is still a evil mass murderer .

  • @zoltan6561

money is generally(at first) a trading tool(no matter it is) but then with human mind we've managed to make currencies. god gave us natural materials, to MAKE that money, he gave you your body he allowed you to live, but you atheists never think. btw I'm not christ, I'm a muslim.

  • little chefs those blue peanutty things WTFFF so stupiiid

  • Lolz funny I love it

  • If you already know all the names this video is absolutely hilarious, keep in mind the scientific names are sometimes just as basic or silly but in Greek or Latin. I.E. "Clathrin" or the "welcoming committee" is related to Clathrum which is Greek for lattice or grate. You see, Clathrum, Clathrin, there you go. Give me any word and I show you how the root is GREEK!

  • looks like a science fiction movie. i dont know if they made it up

  • No, Krulwich, viruses do not want to spread. Viruses want nothing; they evolved because they spread, without brains, without desires.

  • This video is actually really cool and interesting, but I could have used the actual scientific names for the cell parts!

    Yellow knobbly things.....welcoming committee.... LOL

  • the welcoming committee...LOL

  • WOW ! this really helped me.. i wish you are my bio teacher! you use small words instead of the SCIENTIFIC ONES which is hard for a student to learn! AMAZING!

  • great video, and very entertaining, but would it have hurt to actually name what was happening scientifically too? just you know the basics like nucleus ribosomes antigens not copying machines and keys :(((

  • very good presentation making boring study things interesting but i missed scientific names.

  • like transformer~

    -,-

  • those little noodlely things.... -_-

  • Gah! Is there something wrong with using the correct names for things? Is it so difficult to say "RNA" and "ribosome"?? They use more technical language on the TV news than in this video!

  • @ClassicalBookworm its for public not in specialization people!!!!!

  • Useful video but it would be helpful if they did give the scientific terms. Maybe some of you guys can help. WHat are the:

    Yellow key things

    The purple receptors

    The welcome comity thing

  • @YAYifoundausername The yellow things are signal molecules (subtrates, or also called ligands) that in fact act as key when they bind to the receptors in the cell, when that happens the virus fused with the plasma membrane and a vesicle is form and what was sorrounding the receptors are clathrin protein (the vesicle is coated bu this proteins" a) and enters the cells. The "factory" mentioned in the video are ribosomes and those ribosomes are transcribing the virus DNA into RNA.

  • @YAYifoundausername

    The welcoming thing is "Clathrin".

The yellow key thing is "Haemagglutinin".

The purple receptor is "sialic acid-containing receptor".

  • @YAYifoundausername Not sure if you really are asking, but I can answer one or two, Purple things are Receptors, their made of proteins, and the not sure which welcome comitty thing, the one in the nucleus is PROBABLY nucleolus, the vlue one on the outside is a ribosome

  • @YAYifoundausername Glycoproteion spike, receptor proteins on cell's plasma membrane, the third thing is probably the membranous envelope

  • @YAYifoundausername

No idea what the welcome committee is supposed to be, but the yellow key things on the virus are called surface proteins or capsid proteins. Cells communicate with one another by exchanging messenger proteins (such as hormones). Viruses are covered in very similar proteins that are recognized by the (purple) receptors on the cell membrane, which causes the membrane to let the virus in. The receptors are also protein molecules btw. Proteins have a f-ton of functions.

  • @YAYifoundausername the yellow keys are glycoproteins which i think are also the purple receptors they too i think are glyco proteins. i dont know what the welcoming comittee is but the pink molecule i think is ribosome producing mRNA or messenger RNA. it always makes things easier when experts simplify things like this video but i agree they should atleast stick some proper terms in here, oversimplifying things does no good

  • @YAYifoundausername OH i remember what the welcoming committee is, its the process called endocytosis where the cell kind of develops a dimple which turns into a bubble that goes inside itself, that bubble is the welcoming committee that takes the virus into the nucleus were it goes into transcription (the part where the photo copyer comes in)

  • expletive cool

  • wait a second, how the hell i ended up here? i was watching 'i'm a mac' ad lol

  • I think this is kinda cool.

  • @xNJLM You do know this virus has killed millions of people slowly and painfully?

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat No.. how the body defends its self...

  • i understand so much better now.

  • but what is with the non-adultish words? Thingies? come on seriously. Grow up.

  • this is soo easy to understand!

  • tell me how an AIDS virus enters...

  • damn virus you scary

  • it wow i feel i am sick -______-

  • good explation it explains how viruses works and lol thingies , key , locks... Cool

  • great video thanks!

  • I'm so sick right now that I feel like dying. I didn't even go to school today and I'm staying home tomorrow.

  • @AlejandroN2r2 As long as it's not food poisoning. Out of all the illnesses that I've experienced, food poisoning is by far the worst.

  • POR FAVOR , QUISIERA ESTE GRAN VIDEO EN ESPAÑOL , PARA PODER COMPARTIRLO

  • remember, viruses are NONLIVING things. unlike bacteria which is.

  • @faxmanloveswaffles if it's not alive why does it multiply?

  • that membrane sac around the virus in the beginning is the vesicle. i think.

  • thumbs up for the sound effects

  • Este Video, esta muy bueno, en Ingles, pero con verlo, se le entiende, ja

  • Today I was wondering: The immune system destroys vira while they travel (becoming increasingly efficient), but how does that cure the allready-infected cells, that has been coded to produce the virus? Does it simply run out of virus material (aka "virus copy paper", if you play on the pun at 1:55)?

  • Comment removed

  • @rosenvitae what did u say?!?

  • .__.

  • @JXJ1326 - you think that way - because you are infected by a 'virus' that stops you knowing truth, why they hate what your country represents, your countries history. a 'virus' that controls your mind using words and concepts that stop free thinking.

urbanisation is a type of virus - it changes people into slaves who go along with killing nature and using nature to build societies, that make them more sick and more unaware of truth. makes you turn against the planet you exist in / on.

  • This is nothing unless you have AIDS. It destroys your immune system which makes a simple virus more effective and very likely deadly.

  • Where can i get of these immune dudes?

  • Comment removed

  • so basically immune system is more important than medicine.

How does one make their immune system stronger?

  • MOST OF THE TIME !!, wash ur fuckin hands people

  • i liked it, very cute ahah

  • This was fun and all, but basically useless. Peanutty things? Otherwise known as ribosomes? If I was the animator, I'd be ashamed to just sit there while the narrator blunders his way through the description of the elegant and terrifying process of a viral infection.

  • @ThickfoginIreland Yea, I kinda was thrown off for a sec. I knew it had to be ribosomes.

  • 3:10 DUHN! DUH! DAAAAAAAH!!!!

  • will people tell me that i'm crazy if i said i laugh when i saw the animation in this vid? XD

  • will people tell me that i'm crazy if i said i laugh when i saw the animation in this vid? XD

  • Mto bom vídeo. Algum brasileiro que entenda bem de inglês bem que poderia traduzir prá gente :/

  • I'm punching the next guy that sneezes around me.

  • so how to kill the virus???

  • @pramhatibie take advil or cough drops

  • @pramhatibie no one knows, thats why you see ooh get your nose spray, buy this and buy this to kill your flue.. you just need to let the flue live long enough to kill them self, thats why u are sick in like 2-3 weeks then its gone cuz most of them dies of aging, if they dont you get really ill and need to go to the hospital.. but that almost never happens:) mostly only when u are a child:)

  • I think this videos help alot of people that have to study because there are alot people that are visual learning and to get to watch it and how it works and not just read about it it makes medical school a little better.

  • @josemi1989 From this video a student wouldn't be able to learn ANY terms. No cells are actually referred to with their name. So it won't help.

  • @xyrxes1 nice one no name charlie. sad to see you care so much. sorry, was being comical back, duh!!!!!!!

  • bery good

  • best way to heal flu is smoke a lot of weed. no kidding.

  • @MrUberSpanky how does that work? does the immune system get stronger as a result of inhaling weed?

  • @theoriginnoobfighter I dont know man. maybe it works harder and combined with the serotine its actually a nice experience :D

I had last sunday flu. 2 days laters i was fresh again..weed heals!

  • I just saw contagion

  • what the fuck??

  • so why do you need to sneeze without covering your mouth?

  • ohmygosh this thing rocks! esp at tht part where he says " how come tht guy doesn't just drop dead?" EPIC!

  • Buenos dias chickos Donde bibe, Bibo en Sneeze. Kue tal, fatal, hasta luego senior.
