  • 8 people thought this would stop an RPG and tested it.

  • @UberNukeProductions

But it would stop an RPG haha

  • pinnacle armor!! WHAT

i think this armor should belong to the people! who's whith me?

  • @speake2me Oh yes, then you can have crazy people who have the money to buy Dragon Skin armor to run and rob a bank with an Assault rifle while raping police and being shot multiple times and not die.

  • And now we're going to drop a nuclear warhead on it!

  • how about shot at the side??

  • This could have saved a lot of lives...were it not for politics

  • @particleocclusion potentially...however, there was a major issue with the ceramic plates staying in place when exposed to high temperatures. The adhesive that holds them together would become unstable and cause gaps in the coverage. That's not politics, thats facts.

  • @swich160 which was repaired as soon as they fond out about it 2 years ago.

  • @starknight97 found*

  • @swich160 yeah yeah didn't run spell check so what.

  • @starknight97 also please show me a link or confirmed report of this issue being corrected.

  • @swich160 Only when exposed to a temperature of no less that 500 Degrees F, at which point the person wearing it would have died anyways, If your going to state facts, state 100% of them, stop talking like they do in Congress. People don't need others to selectively state random parts of something to sound like they know what their talking about. The adhesive can withstand 3000C but the reason for the vest only last until 500F is thats when the nylon in the vest breaks down. Know the real facts.

  • @adamslurch71 the adhesive cannot stand 3000C, that's higher than the ceramic used and no organic material much less polyurethane or epoxy is gonna last over 1000C much less 3000C. Maybe you should check your facts before you comment on others, if you can find a flexible organic adhesive that can last up 3000C I think you'll be a millionaire.

  • @adamslurch71 Show me a link to a reputable source documenting your statement. I'm only interested in documented evidence as provided by an unbiased source.

  • ...furthermore, an extremely reliable website consisting of a certain group of professional soldiers has documented their evidence and provided their opinions (of which they gained in the field) on their website. Thanks for trying though. Have a nice day.

  • same for you kerensky. dont open yout mouth unless you know what youre talking about. a bachelors degree is ALWAYS required to comission as an officer dumbass

  • aaron youre a fucking ignorant bastard. seriously i cant even begin to say how stupid you sound. especially since youre a fucking punk ass civilian pussy who doesnt know shit. shut your mouth you fucking potg

  • I think the military is not accepting the dragonskin because it's too expensive in comparison to the full set of interceptor. Because DS does work better and badder, yet it's expensive.

  • @kerenskymkii i'm talking about soldiers, not engineers who develop the technologies, but anyway to put it in context for you the guy before me was saying how they were dumbing down the military schools too much, basically saying they should make things harder so that the people that are not smart enough to pass the test would be filtered out. oh and btw i wasn't being disrespectful, it takes a lot of courage to join the army, especially these days.

  • i think this test has answered one very important question, at 3:05, a shot landed on the dummy's left waist, and as far as the plate goes, it is an angled shot in terms of the way the discs are facing, and it did not penetrate.

  • Soldiers need to step up and take action. It's your life on the front lines man, It's your life not theirs. Why are they choosing what body armor you wear. That's a choice the soldiers should have. I would want the best protection possible for myself.

  • Is it possible to privately purchase one of these vests?

  • @FishyOnStick You can purchase the level III and level IV armor but the strongest one, level V, is only sold to police, WAT, and the Army. You can however buy any other kind of armor that is not dragon skin.

  • i just spent 30 min watching different clips of the dragon skin i think independent tests are needed

  • it wouldnt really matter if some1 did empty a AK clip in u and u didnt die from the bullets the blunt trama would leave u injuryed if not dead

  • @kerenskymii

The Army testing lab claimed that the adhesive that held the ceramic disks to the kevlar backing degraded under high temperatures (170 degrees or so), causing 'catastrophic failures'.

Pinnacle Armor (Dragonskin maker) disagreed, but they changed adhesive and asked for a retest, just to make them happy. Army said no.

BTW, the colonel in charge of the testing (Col. Norwood) is now working for the company that makes Interceptor body armor. Coincidence? I think not.

  • The Army gets the interceptors much much cheaper too.

  • @TheMisfit621 When it comes to saving soldiers lives a price tag should NOT MATTER!!!! plus supply and demand says the more you buy the cheaper the price gets.

  • i know us army fuck us over with the body armor thing

same mofo's who let the fort hood massacre happened

and also get a piston system for the m16 already damn

  • I heard that they are not using this armor becuase it melts in tempertures past 100*F

  • Did you also hear the army is still using the AR-15 because it's the best?

One word: contractors. 100F is nothing compared to the heat during an impact.

  • Army uses M-16s and M-4s not AR-15s the AR-15 is a civilian model that is not fully auto

  • what a lie nine us generals , cia elite operatives, pmc , us general bodyguards , several police departments and us secret service currently use this

army doesnt want the interceptor to look like a piece of shit

  • it doesnt that was a myth brought on by my own branch of the military (Army) in reality Dragon Skin beats the Interceptor in all tests

  • this guy aims low, watch your nuts.

  • just letting you know

USA is not the only country that utilizes the .50 cal sniper rifles

  • nope, Norway does use .50 cal snipers aswell

  • @pchoiboi idk who ur talking to but if theres someone who thinks that their not that smart im from the US but i agree with you completely

  • do you realize the plates in the dragon skin are made which a ceramic so hard its the next step down from crystal. on top of that the cusion under the plates can obsorb so much energy it not only shaters the bullets but will leave bruising as it most leathal damage.

  • I know of only one ammunition that can penetrate Dragon Skin, just remember I'm excluding those larger ammunitions like 20mm, 50 cals may penetrate but probably not, but the one that can is the 5.7mm x 23mm, or the Five seveN, which is used in the FN P90, Five seveN pistol and a new prototype assault rifle.

  • i doubt it.

  • Really, look up FN P90, or Five seveN penetration, you'll probably see the video where they shoot through dragon skin with an FN P90

  • that small cal??? give link.... dont belive it

  • gee its funny even I just looked this up and no results on youtube. I did a search on the net and the only result I found that put the dragon skin armor and fnp90 together was your comment Im quoting. You are a liar.

  • OK look in my profile, and look in my favourites I have it saved there, it should be there under something with FN P90 in the title, the only reason it may not be there is cuz it may have been removed, and cuz my PS3 wont let me access my favourites, I couldn't tell you, there NOW look it up, and check the H&K MP7 it might do it too

  • Guess what, I watch it and you were wrong about everything mr know it all.

For one never once did that video say anything about dragon skin. #2, It never compared the 5.7X28 with the 5.56 or 7.62, #3, at 3minsutes into the vid it was fired at a cynderblock wall and not one shot penetrated the wal to show it doesnt overpenetrate, #4, it only showed it could penetrate a standard kevlar vest and thin armored metal plates which are weak anyways. Your vid on your favorites proved you wrong hahahaha

  • umm dude I just checked on my computer, that video isn't even in my favourites any more its gone I didn't even delete it, but through out the video they were shooting first through variations of walls, then at steel plates and then a kevlar, and then a new aged kinda futuristic Flak Jacket, and then at a dragon skin vest, I dont remember the title, but I find it I'll show you the scary penetration that ammo has

  • I found a FN-P90 promo vid on your favorites and it depicts the FN-P90 penetrating soft armor and steel paltes but not a cynderblock wall. Ceramic armor has vastly superior structure over steel since it uses resins to hold together the ceramic armor. The ceramic armor would have the same effect as the wall of cynderblocks to the 5.7X28, it will simply shatter the round,. The 7.62X39 on the other hand easily penetrates a cynderblock wall.

PM me the vid if you find it and prove me wrong.

  • If I can find it I'll prove it, but yes I will agree the 7.62 x 39, and 7.62 x 54 would have more plates penetration, but for it size the 5.7 technically would destroy the 7.62 x 39, and I just found out there making a new assault rifle round designed similar to the 5.7 x 28, infact the seals and other elite miltary branches are testing the newer version of the FN SCAR that uses the 5.7 no joke and excluding range its beating most competitors

  • Im not sure what "...for it size the 5.7 technically would destroy the 7.62 x 39" means because it just dont, but I am aware of the newer ammunition that military has been experimenting with. If were thinking of the same thing its just a new ammunition that might replace the 5.56X45nato for a shorter case but larger/heavier bullet that will do more damage,, and weighs less over all.

The fact of the matter is that the 5.7X28 does not have near the penetration that the 7.62X39 has.

  • That newer ammo its like in between the aging 7.62 and the low damage 5.56, its something like the 6.65 x ?? I can only remember the 6.65, and FNH is building one like that but with the penetration power of the 5.7 but like 2x that, that shit will be crazy

  • I served in Iraq, I have weapons training and I know you know nothing about ballistics, please stop embarassing yourself.

  • I stood corrected, I do know about weapons and ammo, and if you were in the US Army YOU DONT KNOW DICK, Sorry to say, the reason for this comment, the US Army does not train soldiers properly, Fuck the Canadian Army is as good as the US MARINES, just because we have 2/3rds more requirements and training. Its annoying me how the US Army gives EXTREME BASIC Training, therefore A LOT OF THE US ARMYS SOLDIERS DIE NEEDLESSLY DUE TO LACK OF TRAINING.

  • @Bitis11nasicornis I have to agree in some areas. Current US Army training is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. They should train more, and more effectively. Those that can't hack the training should get desk jobs. For example. Airborne school doesn't need to be 3 weeks, only one. Don't let the idiots that can't pick it up in one week jump, period.

  • @knarfster thing is, no offence to the military people but capitalism means that most of the smart people are off somewhere else getting degrees and making shit load of money speaking on the phone, if they reject the dumb ones from the military, there won't be many people left in there. plus if i were the higher ups in the military, i don't want smart soldiers, i want ones that follow orders, and from my understanding, smarter people don't like to follow orders without questioning them.

  • you idiot, the 5.7 is so inferior to a 7.62x39 in terms of penetrating power it isnt even funny. All it is is a 22cal bullet in a intermediate rifle casing thats only half the size of even the m16's 5.56X45, which is also inferior to the 7.62X39 in terms of penetrating power.

  • HEY DUMB FUCK , I know for a fact, I've seen it with my own eyes, an FN P90, and a Five seveN, both obviously using the 5.7mm bullet, and it was piercing through and through the Dragon Skin, and PS the .22 cal also can pierce flak jackets with ease, thats why more and more gangsters are using 22s, and for your information the 5.7mm is more penetrating than the 7.62 and all pistol ammo look it up genius

  • lol a flack jacket is meant to stop fragmentation from explosions like grenades ect..., a bullet is a solid oject with much more weight behind, even a 38 special would penetrate a flak jacket DUMB FUCK.

And no, the 5.7 does not have more penetrating power than a 7.62 in this case. The 7.62X39 has far more energy and weight behind it. 7.62 X39 weighs at least 122g travels on average between 2100fps-2400fps depending on firearms and ammo that is used, the 5,7X28(not 5.7X23 DUMB FUCK).......

  • and I meant 5.7mm x 28mm, and yes that ammo penetrates dragon skin look it up, it is more penetrating than all pistol ammo, and has a higher penetrating capability than, the 5.56, 7.62 x 39 and even the 7.62 x 54, I've seen it done, its even on youtube DUMB FUCK , aswell as the 22 can penetrate cavalar aswell as these newer versions of Flak Jackets that can both stop ammo and explosive fragments, SERIOUSLY LOOK IT UP YOURSELF

  • Everyone, stop going DUMB FUCK, 5.7x28 is more or less a shortened .223 (5.56x45) with MUCH less powder, it pierces better than other PISTOL rounds but in no way will it pierce better than any intermediate (7.62x39, 5.56x45) or full powered rifle round (7.62x51, 7.62x54). If you've seen a P90 or Five Seven going through armor, it is NOT Dragon Skin, it's one of the other rigid plate armors.

  • why may I ask did you quote me when I was the one who basically said the same thing you did? it was the other guy who tried saying the 5.7X28 had more penetrating power than the 7.62X39. if you are going to call anyone a dumbfuck then direct it at the one(s) who make the dumb fuck comments.

  • No, I did not.

  • ...... ammo comes in diff varieties whos weight as speed varies from 25gr-55gr and travels anywhere from 1500fps-2300fps with just under 400 ftlbs of energy. That doesnt touch the 7.62X39's damn near 1600lbs of energy. When it comes to penetration the 5.7X28(agian not 5.7X23 U DUMB FUCK) has no where the authority that the 7.62X39 has.

Gets your facts straight b4 getting urself into a debate with someone who knows what theya re talking about, DUMB FUCK.

  • Beats a t-shirt

  • also a lot of the test done on interceptors lacked the SAPIs which are standard issue

basically it comes down to this...nothing is full proof

  • The vest fails when soaked with diesel (which all our vehicles use). It is very temperature sensitive and weights 48 lb. Also they are constantly working on SAPIs, but they are also constantly working on bullets to make them more deadly.

as far as a .50 goes, no armor will save you. The way bullets work is its not just the round that kills you, its the force, which is why if you get a .50 within a foot of someones head the force will still kill them, so sorry, nothing out now stops a .50

  • theres alot of ak's an gatling guns on the battle field an there not running around there on the back of trucks an some are stationed a gatling gun could turn your house into a haunted house easy or turn your car to swiss chease lol

  • wat alot of people need to realize is that the body armor US soldiers are using right now are completely useless in comparison to dragon skin. the current armor can be completly useless after one impact! So wat the fuck, government? And all u ignorant dumb asses? ... wtf

  • They are ignorant. But of course, they're brain washed americans and shills who accept anything.

  • E-SAPI plates can take more than one round

i believe they can take approx. 5 hits from an AK round before rendered useless

  • what would u rather have a nasty bruse or a bullet hole

  • why the fuck is everyone making bad remarks about this armor, atleast the person lives? the army has armor thats worse than this, fucktards like fghacbs should probably learn whats better than NOTHING

  • on dragon skin/pinnacle armour products, what does "SOV" stand for?

the pinnacle website doesn't explain that

  • OK, 4.5 minutes of watching that test dummy wobble back & forth after each shot got pretty boring.

  • the gatling gun would stop the wobble and the vest lol

  • even if it would hold back a .50 BMG the punch would obviously knock the poor bastard down with broken rips or worse...

  • probably better than being blown in half

  • that one guy said it failed 13 out of 48 shots...it was probobly the last 13 that failed from strain...but what kind of soldjer gets shot 48 times...after everyshot there supposed to get a new vest right.

  • or .50 1911 rnds?

  • Dragon skin can stop .357 and .38sp rounds right?

  • what abbot 44 cal magnum rnds or .50 cal AE Desert eagle rounds?

  • Anyone else know he showed the backside of the dummy where no bullets hit at in the first place ? If you watch the video he is shooting the front cause you can see the chin and he raise's the backside of the plate up instead? I WIN ! :P

  • the back is probably almost exactly like the front....

  • No this is not Lvl.V that is lvl.III the lvl.V has much more bulk than that.

  • A .50 BMG would definitely penetrate it. They say what each lvel can effectively repel. As for this test, the guy can't shoot worth a damn. Either that or he's aiming for the lining?

  • he's trying to hit every spot of the armor to show its effective everywhere, instead of the center like the intruder vest.

  • ment interceptor, my bad

  • lol

  • I wanna see the Barrett M82 used on it and did anybody hear bout Pinnacle making a Type V armor?

  • really?, do you think its better than dragon skin?

  • Pinnacle Armor make Dragon skin??? and they've made a level V protection Dragonskin, check their website, there info thats government classified

  • that was their level V body armor lol,

  • aww come on, use the .50 Calibre or the 33MM

  • Its 7.62 lol AK 47 uses 7.62, not the NATO standard

  • i doubt that would stop 7.62 x 51

  • It does.

  • I wish they had better angles in these videos, And the fact that you can't always believe what you see on TV comes into play too. I would like to see alot more tests being done on this armor, and see how it takes shrap from an IED. From a single 105mm round to tripple stacks and more. Cuz that is whats killing troops out there the most. But other then that i'm happy with my armor. keeps me alive. and i never go on patrol without it. But i do agree its bulky.

  • look up "test lab dragon skin" on google video and see that it does INDEED repel against shrapnel

  • the army rejected it because in some weather conditions, the vest is rendered useless. but they got the torso protection down. Now all is left is the Arms, legs, and lower torso, and groin, and neck and face

  • I don"t remember were I seen it but someone bought the armor and complaint about its weight and mobility?! WTF? I've seen it on there website were it said there Level IV armor only weights 17.X pounds..If you cant bear that then I dont know what to say to you. The armor is VERY impressive to say the lease

  • if only us cares of their troops, they buy thme this to save their lives but onlly the high ranks have theese some troops buy from family and own money, saaad

  • 120mm APFSDS juuuuuust might

  • ima buy one and send it to my cousin

  • also it appears they have different "levels" of dragon skin. How heavy is this level 5 stuff? granted it might be able to stop stuff but if its too heavy who cares. That was one of the biggest complaints about the current armor is troops want lighter stuff!

  • can a 8x57mm round destroy dragon skin???

  • 9mm? whoopie how many terrorists are using the mp5 or other 9mm weapons...? The Ak military ball ammunition speads like butter. NEITHER are aromor piercing rounds and if something cant stop a 9mm round then its not body armor. If they want to test dragon skin put it up to the mp7 or equivelent.

  • the ak ammunition (M43) has a steel core.

  • mp7 uses a smaller caliber than either of those weapons you fucking idiot. And terrorists use AK47s which this armor protects against. Fucking idiot.

  • smaller round doesnt mean shit if its AP. The mp7 has some impressive results on body armor tests when you consider the size of the round.

  • I just dont understand why the military refuses to send out dragonskin in the field after clearly seeing all of the other tests made by the civilian population. Obviously the interceptor is inferior.

  • Because theyre cheap bastards who want you to think that they are protecting people with "the best equipment"

  • They want to save money, and there are investors who want to make money.

  • They really shuld think of making a full body suit as well for this. Sure this armor is for small arms fire but full protection is better then none. Also why are they only doing single shots on a weapon that can go full auto have they done a full auto test on it or at least a 3 round bursts? Did they also do a shock test using shock sensors because you can still die or be critically injured just the the shock of the hit.

  • shock test revealed that it was significantly more effective than interceptor, and I think the body suit would be too heavy and expensive, and could only be deployed with bomb squads, but they have level 4 suits anyway so it works out....but yeah, Dragon Skin rules....

  • I wonder how it fares vs 5.7 x 20mm

  • if it can take a 7.62 Nato, it can pretty much take anything....

  • I'd pretty much expect normal handheld guns to be the top of what it can take.

I'd expect an M107 to shoot straight through to the other side(.50 cal sniper), And if it had armor peircing rounds... No way anything would stand up, because the tips explode.

  • well, duh....50's made to go through APC's....by anything I ment anything lighter....

  • ah...

  • Dragon Skin is designed to stop small-arms, not anti-tank warheads or kinetic energy penetrators.

  • true. but why not? AK can put a hole into steel, but not dragon skin, and it's lighter than steel. So why not use in light vehicles that can't be armored with steel cause of the weigt. Safe from SOME fire still.

  • ...they do, it's called spall liner

  • Ok :) If it's the same consept, cool.

  • Antitank munitions do not work the same way as a bullet. Vehicles do have spall liners to catch fragmentation of armor. However, you cannot coat a vehicle in dragon skin and expect it to be effective.

  • Is this AP rounds?

  • Yes! they are AP rounds!

  • the guy or ppl who said that dragon skin its as good as the one they use now are gay and can suck my balls THIS IS THE BEST BODY ARMOR OUT THERE U FAGS

  • The army claims that they penetrated this armor but i seriously doubt it because on future weapons he shot so much into it and blew up a grenade and it didnt penetrate. The army says that there armor is the best even though it isnt flexible and cant take too many shots in the same place or it will penetrate, Army banned this product in march, but they conducted there research in may. They just dont want to admit that a private researcher can build something better than them.

  • Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)A civilian company contracted by the DoD. are the ones who Came up with what goes in the Interceptor Body armor, and Dragon skin. pinnacle armor did not invent new armor hear. they just tryed somthing that might work better. But anyways its not the armys armor. all armed forces use it, And trust me dragon skin has not been ruled out by anyone in the DoD. It just needs more work. has this armor been tested with a real IED. Its not bullets thats

  • killing us out there. Its anything and everything these people can use. sure it stops 9mm and what not. i've seen alot of stuff we put on our hummers stop those rounds. but i do agree that pinnacle armor is doing some great work and I would love to see what they can do in the future. But right now there vest still needs work.

  • flipping baby

  • You are about 20x off the cost there, friend. The cost for an individual SCHOOL often times exceeds that.

  • Military personnel can wear this (at least Marines can) but they forfeit their 400k life insurance policy. The only reason the Army is against it is because an outside group made it not on of the big contractors. They did the same shit 50 years ago with the M16. It'll blow up in their faces once Fox News and congress gets a hold of it. It will be the unarmored humvees all over again.

  • Wrong and wrong. That 'No SGLI' rumor is a barracks myth started in the Army. Go to the VA page and see for yourself.

...and a new MARADMIN came out in April saying that Marines cannot wear PPE that interferes with government issued/tested gear. Individual commanders can still decide, though.

  • Your acronyms make your post incomprehensible. If you want people to pay attention to your posts, speak english ya fucking idiot.

  • My acronyms are perfetly intelligible to the audience for which they are intended. For those of you who are interested, but not military, here is a translation: SGLI = military life insurance. VA = Veterans Administration. MARADMIN = Marine Corps wide orders. PPE = body armor

  • unless it costs more than their armor already...military costs money!! I'm sure if it was cheaper than what they use now they would switch.

  • not if people in the army had shares in the current body armor that they use

  • would dragonskin also work against AP ammunition ? I highly doubt that.

  • Watch the other future weapons video, they shot like 40 rounds of 5.56x45 and 7.62x39 AP steel core bullets... no penetration, and they even blew up a grenade under it, still no penetration. I think AP is the least of it's worries, and surely in the lower levels of it's capabilities to defend against

  • its roughly around 5k a vest which is why the u.s military dosnt supply it for the troops and i think they arnt for commercial sale becuz the military dosnt want the expendble troops to buy it and make there current body armor look like crap i guess its cheaper to let people day during a war

  • Completely practical yet very fashionable! NICE. This would be awesome in a rap video.

  • maaan, why is he shooting so slow?

  • ShoMpa, probably because it's for testing purposes and it's not a Will Smith shoot-em up movie. I bet you wanted him to hold his weapon sideways like a gangsta. You dope.

  • To make sure they all hit.

  • with due respect, i'd rather be safe than shot

  • Wtf does that even mean? You are a fucking idiot. Stupid shit.

  • i must have one before the Air Force issues this ban!!!!

  • you wont need one in the air force.

  • lol

  • THAT'S AWESOME! How much would one of those things cost?
