Stop blaming the mom so much, sure it was a stupid decision but she was in shock. If something horrible happens the human instinct is to try to disprove it, so she found whatever reason she could to tell herself that her daughter wasn't molested. She obviously regrets believing her husband instead of her daughter, but she's coming around and ready to step up to her husband. Her husband might as well abuse her too. You don't know enough to judge her like this.
I was molested as a child (by my grandfather)....my mother told me (and everyone in the family) that I was lying. I felt really alone and hated by everyone...and still can't feel close to her to this day. At 17-years-old, my mother told me that her father (my grandfather) molested her and my cousin too.....just that she didn't want me to make a big deal out of it. I was devastated. She drinks the pain away with alcohol.....I still feel the pain of not being believed.

They didn't do a lie detector test on the girl and she didn't come on the show either. There just really isn't enough information to make any reasonable conclusions. It's definately far from being beyond a reasonable doubt.
What about the lie detector test he passed? Her daughter might hate him and is trying to harm him maybe because he's not her real dad. Many stepmothers and stepfathers are disliked and even hated for no rational reason. The most common excuse is that they're not their real parent even when the stepmother or stepfather loves them like their own. Same thing happens many times when the adopted find out they are adopted. They also didn't give a good explanation as to why he didn't come to the show.

My mom did not believe me either, and the offender was my stepfather, she stayed with him because we were living in a nice home finally and he made good money. I didn't want to break up a nice home either, but I had to, she did nothing so I ran away to a friends house, her mother helped me and I thank God everyday for her...I feel sorry for that little girl, I hope she gets the help she needs

Hey look here, on his show whenever someone failed the lie test and denies it and stand on their grown saying that they did not lie, everyone would say "I still don't believe you, because you FAILED the lie test"
Now in this case the interviewer has analyzed that the daughter has been sexually offended by someone. But take note that the step father had previously PASSED the lie test.
Shouldn't everyone go with the lie test results as usual? Or just having double standards.

And yes, I copy and pasted from wikipedia. I don't memorize specific error rate percentages, do you? It was a convenient bundle of information. That doesn't change the fact that every respectable independent study on the subject has shown the polygraph test to be unreliable (such as NAS).

If it's someone close to you, and they don't have a history of heinous lying, then yes. Are you honestly telling me that if you had a child and they told you someone was molesting them, that you wouldn't give it even the slightest consideration?
I'm a criminal justice major. The fail rate of polygraph tests was one of the first things I learned about freshman year. The National Academy of Sciences published a study in which they said that polygraph tests are prone to very high error rates.
