Always hated the Eagles, but loved "Life's Been Good" since I was little and listened to it on repeat off my dad's best of the 70s compilation disc. About two months ago I was at a record store and saw this for a dollar so I had to get it. Was shocked and amazed how amazing this album is as a whole! Been getting really drunk and spinning this ad nausea since then. Wish more people in my generation appreciated music like this!
I got to play the same little stage that Joe did when he was starting out. When i finally had the chance to meet the gang, I asked about that little bar in Kent, Ohio............And they said it was a Great Spot! Friggen Awsome!.....PRICELESS!
Probably one of the best rock albums ever...and so fucking unappreciated! All people ever heard was "My Maserati does 185" but this LP had so much more
Back in college I picked this LP up the day it was released. Played the hell out of it. Bought the CD a few years ago and really enjoy the song sequence much better. A great listen on a sunny day, drinking beer on the deck.
Joe Walsh is an American artist of the highest magnitude - buy his albums, let him know -- and play them loud in public, let everyone else know too :)
I was a young Marine from the Midwest stationed in North Carolina, and, I was actually one of those fans that couldn't wait till I heard his next album. I still remember fishing for crab in the Neuse River and hearing this album for the first time. Thank you sooooo much for bringing me back to those days. What a rush. The best "unsung" muscian ever from these great United States. :)
Absolutely my favorite artist! Joe Walsh is the best. I loved his stuff before he helped the Eagles become better, and I love his stuff since. Amazing song writer, guitar player, and thinker. The guy is a national treasure.
The Eagles have a negative attitude in all their songs, I presume from Don Henley's influence; lots of whining, bitching, misogyny, self-pity -- Joe Walsh on the other hand has a basically compassionate and philosophical outlook on life - plus his music is sweeter and more original -
these are lovely, thanks Chris -- as a gesture of support and solidarity I think I'll go actually purchase the CD's -- sooner or later if people buy the music Joe will get a another royalty check, as he so richly deserves (at the very least)
In an interview Joe was asked how he learned to play slide guitar. He replied "I just went out into the garage every day and after about a year I kinda figured it out."
Thanks for postin" ... It brings me back to having to steal my bro's record to record on cassette. If any of you can't understand that, then open your eyes to how lucky you now have it! Take care!
On acoustic guitar, "Second Hand Store" is in C-G-F with a sneaky A in the chorus. The verses are: C-G-F-C-G-C C-G-F-C-G-F The chorus is: F-G-C F-G-C-G F-G-A F-G-C The long chorus is F-G G-A F-C This is a great song to play on solo acoustic.
Thanks Chris for putting these songs up. I devoured this record when I was in ninth grade and this and Joe's music in general gave me an architecture for writing and producing music. This album is mixed exceptionally well. Joe's records always have a great drum sound and he's a fanatic about details.
thank you for posting this great album! such a quality sound and i,m returned to 78' when i heard life,s been good.tomorrow is cool he sounds like mc artney in his earlier days. hell they,re all good tunes joe is just cool ! and his playing is on fire he had a wild time with the eagles by all acccounts!
I like to love the songs in music and the players in sports that are underrated but great. Over and Over, Second Hand Store, and Tomorrow are the songs on this album that never got the recognition they deserved, but so, so, good, which fits right into my scheme...Thanks Chris.
It doesn't bother me to hear this song over and over and over again, but seriously folks, this is 1 of his best songs. I remember hearing this song for the first time back in the good ole 70s while I was walking along the rocky mountain way.
Since you're already on the offensive, know that the volume incorrections are YouTube's work. The audio was just as it is on the album when i made the video, but this happened after uploading it. I dont really understand, since that didn't happen with my later uploads
Just wanted to say thanks so much for posting this. This album takes me back to probably the happiest, most hopeful time of my life. I lost the album 'in transit' several years ago, and have been unable to find any of the tracks anywhere, so thanks again. Great memories, great songs.
@PJNARS The Eagles are a joke compared to Joe. God knows wth he chose to save their asses from being a footnote in country rock history...but he did. My understanding is that after the tragic loss of his daughter Emma in 1973 and the release of his 1974 album SoWhat ( with 'A SONG FOR EMMA'), Joe was spent creatively and depressed over his loss and didnt feel like writing or producing... so when the Eagles offer came along, it seemed like a perfect even god-sent solution. The rest is history
That makes Barnstorm one of the top 3 I guess :) .They guy should be legendary solely based on his solo efforts which are mostly several notches better than a vast majority of Eagles albums
love this album! please put the rest of the songs on utube. its a shame e can't buy it on iTunes. I love Joey Murcia's guitar playing right up there with Joe Walsh..
The other guitar player on this album was Joey Murcia formerly of the Bee Gees Saturday Night Fever big selling album. He's great! Plays a great guitar, lead and rhyhmn/ For Joe Walsh to invite Joey Murcia to play guitar on his album, you know both Joe's are great!
joe walsh sigh... i've been a fan of joe since the ybiuni album and have all but one of his solo lps and/ or casssetts,cd's.you got gum,he is best solo hands down.vote for joe walsh for president
Not a bad song on this record. And it could NEVER be an Eagles' record- because (1) it's way too good, and (2) it ROCKS!
