This is about how I pictured an actual trip to that store would be. I wouldn't go there expecting rick and a historian from the show would just be looking over something. It's cool that at least chum-lee was there.

First of all the tv show you watch is completely fake and scripted. The items you see being bought and sold on the show are not real. Here is one example Tony Zanlungo he is an actor and he has appeared on "Pawn Stars" several times as a seller. check out his bio page tonyzanlungo com/resume.html . Its a great show and very entertaining but its all scripted.

Of course we do not have 5 "experts" on hand at all times, so when an item comes in that requires an "expert", an appointment is set up within a day or so and then the segment is filmed. i went to a pawn shop trying to sell my 1920's pocketwatch and was offered $400

i posted an ad on Craigslist and the bid went up to $1900 by the time i had sold it.

It's worth it to invest some time in getting your asking price.
