Castro since taking power in 1959 never paid any of its bills and therefore Cuba has 0 credit from financial institutions in addition to confiscating American and Cuban property. Cuba can trade with any other country in the world but has to pay upfront Cash for goods. No one trusts the irresponsible Castro govt. Once Cuba pays their debts or offers to pay it in an amortization plan + reinstates free elections to a govt without Castro US promises to assist Cuba. Well done!

@FreeCuba01 Cuba didn't pay US bills as it had no reason to as it was blocked economically because it had a communist government. They then started trading with the Soviets and China. They confiscated American companies on Cuban land, which were stealing Cuba's recourses. These belong to the people of Cuba and is therefore justified.

So Cuba now has no money because of the US blockade and they still demand payment? They're broke because of the US.

And they already have free elections.

wrong wrong!!!  there is an embargo on Cuba because Castro confiscated 78 american companies; confiscated 100B of Cuban exiles properties; initially claimed to be a freedom fighter and then a marxist leninist when the revolution conception was to reinstate democratic elections therefore ridding the country of the dictator Batista and reinstating the 1940 Constitution where it clearly states that private property cannot be confiscated. I´m a brazilian citizen and there will be an election this month here. Communists took control of entire country, led by president Lula. His commarade "Dilma" is applying for president. Castro said he would use the nukes as retaliation to a US invasion, though the Soviets still had direct control over the nukes. Castro couldn't just fire them freely.

It was Che who wanted to fire the nukes, because of the Bay of Pigs invasion.

I think when it comes to expanding market reforms Cuba should look at two former communist countries as guides. Those countries would be Estonia and Poland. Both have implemented market reforms without the problems experienced by other former communist countries that tried to reform their economies.
