I think his dad must have a shit load of money for all the gear and stuff, you gotta admire his courage but he does have his whole life to do these things
Wow thats impressive.. I wish I had the opportunity to do that! Kinda bugs me though how a 5 year old could climb Annapurna or K2 (much more difficult and dangerous mountains) and nobody would care just because Everest is the tallest and way more commercialized
"Hes not old enough to drive, he is not old enough to drink, he is not old enough to vote" wtf women do you need to be able to drive/drink/vote to climb a mountain! Some kids are just more developed than others? He is 13, but his mind and phsyical strenght is much stonger than avarage 13 years old kids. He is not a kid, he is a man in a young body
The state has laws to protect the public from someone that is to young to drive or do other things where a mistake could harm others. If he fails or makes a mistake it doesn't harm anyone else. Young kids make life & death decisions every day (is it safe to cross the street now?) Who is to say he is to young other than his parents? I see these comments that it shouldn't be allowed. Why? It's not the responsibility of the state to raise you or your children. Where would that kinda thing end?
@ 6:27--referring to fast food--"Well known to promote disease and early death" Uhhh...I think climbing Everest promotes early death, too, I heard the death rate for summiters is about 20%
@1960markN Actually death rate of summiters is 100%... actually that's everyone's death rate. The statistics, 10 out of 10 people die. There are at least two everest guides who have helped 200+ climbers summit and never lost a single one. Yes people die, but a whole hell of a lot more kids die each year from drunk driving, suicide, early disease and even head injuries in sports.
This child should be in the custody of his mother or anyone else who is not related to his dad. This twit dad and his female partner are doing their best to make money out of him. Those so called adults should not be allowed to take care of a minor, in any country
@oddsource I actually have met this kid a couple of times and hung out with his family. It was not that or boot camp, it was him begging to follow a dream. Also, they're not out to make any money out of or off of him. It's HIS goal and HIS dream and HE accomplished it. Way to go Jordan!!!
God this reporter is so annoying and condescending. 3:08 "There have been a lot of people who have died climbing that mountain, you know", yes I think he realizes that you twat, especially since you have to basically walk over them when you're near the top of the mountain
These two reporters are faggots... this 13 year old is what we have forgotten of what it means to be human.. at least he lives and is one bad ass motherfucker.
@therunningwolf15 You have to realize, that there are plenty of kids who could probably do this (no offense to this kid) but it requires a TON of money. It is impressive, but it is not amazing considering the fact that there are a very very few kids with this kind of money/
this is not to be taken lightly , sounds like the folks are going for a record if not why not wait a few years? dad filled his goggles full of tears...
Wow, that reporter needs to shut the fuck up. The fact of the matter is that Jordan is probably more trained that most mountain climbers will ever obtain. I want to see this kid climb K2.
Ever since i went to Poon Hill in Nepal recently and when i had dinner at Rum Doodle where the conquerers of Mt Everest get to eat for free, i am inspired by Jordan and other guys who conquered Mt Everest!
Good for him. He had a dream, an inspiration, and he made it happen with the support of his family. No, his parents are not rich...all this happened thanks to sponsorships and hard work. Jordan SHOULD be lauded for his accomplishment. He has climbed six of the seven summits with courage, skill, and no ill effects. In December, he will assault the Vinson Massif in Antarctica, and I wish him and his family a safe and successful trip. Shame on all of you nay-sayers for trying to hold him back.
"Buying a Big Mac is irresponsible?? Compared to taking your 13 yo son on Everest??? Is this guy serious? If anyone of the three had died, what would he say then?? He'd realize mountaineering is not a game, it's serious shit!
Anyone can get to the summit considering they have the money and the fitness. This kid just got lucky that his father could afford it. I'm sure there are other kids who would be willing to do this but don't have the money.
it's pretty sad how they make a hero out of a kid who parents risks his life... 9.3% of climbers of everest don't make it back.
now think of the many reasons why our govt allows the illegal kidnapping of our children... cps considers such abuse as a spanking 'child endangerment"
