MY SOLUTION: i had the 30 gig zune and mine froze too but i got to work again on jan. 1 all i did was charge it with my computer and after like 3 times it didnt start, i let it die charged it again and when it was loading i started pushing all the buttons. Let the battery completely die.

Plug it in to charge, when the reset screen shows up after the battery charging screen, unplug cable.

Should continue to start up fine.
