the bass is that phatt, it got banned it ten different countrys before they even heard it there, also heard it caused an earth quake in japan back in 1990
I used to go to the warehouse in Leeds .Remember hearing this at the time, groovy train and Itals anthem as the tracks that set the crowd off. Best acid strawberrys and pills. Happy raving days .LOVE TO NICOLA my Leeds soulmate .
This track goes fine with uppers downers screamers laughers twiddlers diddlers fluffers stuffers throbbers knobbers or any substance that guy in Fear and Loathing had in his bag
Doesn't sound like the sub osc at all: Sounds like they tracked the filter's self oscillation. They probably just recorded it hot and left it that way. I do it all the time on my sh-101 to the same effect.
@Vasilouxxx Rumour has it they actually had to ban this song in nightclubs because the bass was just that powerful that they couldn't afford to keep replacing the speakers it destroyed.
Mate the bass is actually recorded distorted and is no more powerful than any other recording using the Sub oscillator of an MC202 synth.
As much as I LOVE this tune, they either purposely fucked up the bass to make it sound like it was the club PA systems.
I can tell you this for a fact. If I stick the 12" on my 1200 deck and play it through my Focal Twin industry standard monitors the bass still sounds a bag of shite, even at low levels.
@kolakube123 I wasn't giving you "attitude", nor were you offensive. I just thought it was an interesting rumour, and I honestly couldn't give less of a shit if it is accurate or not.
Not surprising this was a Worldwide hit when it was released, and sold so well. This introduced electronic music drastically at many countries. An great example that is Brazil. When this started to get dropped into Rio de Janeiro Clubs, producers and DJS Exploded, and the crowd came into mass numbers, into an effect that changed forever the underground movement right there and introduced Techno (And yes,House) not only to the poorer, but to the richer echelons of society.
LFO's 'Frequency' has just been re-released for its 20th Anniversary! Yay! Dunno if there're any extra songs on the cd but I imagine it's probably been remastered. Whatever though, I never owned it, so I'll be getting it this time round...

Just been blarring this out on my system, home alone raving my arse off to some old school Euphoria - Altern8 style :D at 1:00am I should be arrested playing it this loud! :P
@Schpongy No you dont, you'd be twice as bitter and filled with double the hatred for the shit released since 2000 when the big companies saw a fat profit market for talentless cheese and squeezed the independent labels out
@Schpongy What made the difference was that it was still illegal in many cases to put a party on in the early 90's, that kind of made it feel naughty and more enjoyable. There is occaisionaly the good tune released now and then but nowadays i browse on soundcloud as many bedroom producers release on there and because of that, the music has a touch of the pioneer spirit, go try it
Its the early fall of 1992, at Plan B in Montreal and we are dancing our heads of at the Musée Juste Pour Rire listening to this sort of music. I would pay good money for those days again!!!
I'd like to point out that raves are still going and the small collective is happy, hugging, loving it. It's just not to music like this. I love old rave music but its moved on and that's that :(
back in the day, SW1 club, i was outside for nearly 3hrs in the Q when inside this tune was banging, the walls was shaking, miss those days love & hugs to all involed

@davies241 what are you talking about? it's WAY easier to make tunes in your bedroom and fire them off to DJs now than in the 80's 90's. all you need is a computer, you don't even have to pay to make a white label, just send the MP3 around. you just have to be checking the right charts and listening to the right DJs - top40 / billboard charts are all shit obviously
