i have never seen the wire splice done that way. The basic idea is correct but the direction of the second twisted wire is in the incorrect direction. So that when you look at it should be so that the twisted portion will look like a continuation from one end then on to the other end as\\\\\\ \\\\\\\, not as shown here as \\\\ /////- the latter will have an easier time of unwravelling.
