I think you guys did a nice job of it, BRAVO, BUT, maybe the meter needs a little attention, while the song does change meter from one segment to an other, I am pretty sure it is constant within the segment, you can add feeling and stay within meter.

Very nice cover of one of my favorite songs ever, congratulations both. The guitar/bass combo was just beautiful.  I play this song almost daily since learning it from a friend way back in the 80's. The only thing I do differently is that dissonant chord after the AM7/Dm7 riff which I play (x7676x) from top to bottom string. Try it and see what you think. Thanks a lot for posting the video.

you HAVE noticed there's a sonic difference between the two, right?

For stuff like this I prefer fingers because it gives a fatter warmer sound. For metal and heavy stuff I like a pick because you need the extra brightness for articulation (at least I do anyway...) and a snappier attack helps at faster tempos

That said, there's nothing wrong with this cover. The bass is definitely not too bright, probably because of how it was recorded. A drummer would have turned this from good to great tho

There is a presence and a percussive element to playing with a pick that rolling down your tone knob just won't give you. Plus, the approach to rhythm and touch is different with fingers. Not to mention, you usually get more output with a pick, hitting your preamp section harder as well.

It's kinda like saying "who cares about cheap basswood vs. mahogany? turn the bass up and roll off some highs and you can't tell the difference"

We could argue about subtleties in tone all day, but it's not going to matter an a poorly recorded youtube video whether or not you're using a pick, whether or not your body is basswood or mahogany, whether or not the fretboard is maple or rosewood. The tonal variations we perceive as musicians aren't often noticed by the audience anyway. I never disagreed with you anyway.
