I remember hearing on the radio a long time ago that she didn't speak English at the time of the recording, so she learned the lyrics phonetically . I've never seen this confirmed though. She may have gotten better at English after the recording.

In many of their songs, her "D's" sound like "Th's" and vice-versa which might indicate a language barrier.

At any rate, they were a great group with superb musicianship and Mariska's vocals.

She also doesn't scream "AUUHH" at 1:25

Classic song. There are better quality versions on youtube of this performance from Top of the Pops 5/21970. Interestingly this was made in colour. This film recording (kinescope/Telerecording) is monochrome; BUt it has recently become possible to recover colour from pAL film recordings! This clip cOULD be turned back into glorious colour!!

I would say this is done through the same method as Kereoke(sp). The guitar that is played during the opening is not electric, it is an acoustic guitar, which is also used throughout the tune. The guitarist is using an electric in this video.If you type in The Smothers Brothers, the Buckinghams performed using a machine similar to kereoke. The musicians were faking, but the singers voice was real.

This is not live, at least not the guitar.

For one example, watch Robbie's left hand at 17 seconds, during the first short lead. That lead is played far up the neck (at the 12th fret), but his hand never moves up to that position.

The leads sound identical to the record, but are not being played here live.

Nonetheless, this is a FABULOUS video, and I give it a 5/5. I'd give it a 6/5 if YouTube would let me!

This is why there's two versions of Beatles Hello goodbye, you know it was lipsynched because in the middle part of the well known clip, paul screwed up and his expression on his face says "F**k.
