  • Was he able to see again with that eye?

  • @sompret he wasnt Seeing with it anyway lol :D

  • That is just the best thing I have seen today!

  • Why did it get cloudy at the very end, near the incision?

  • it's amazing that that sharp instrument on the left doesn't scratch the cornea.

  • @StevenBee2 hi have u had a cataract surgery b4..

  • @slazzer145 Nope

  • oh crap ahhhhh cant look at tht

  • is that a human eye???

  • Oh my god, that's horrible!!

  • Call me weird.. but somehow I find watching all the stuff in the middle swirl around and disappear, amusing.

  • @ashty94 The stuff in the middle is actually the cataract. A cataract is a clouded lens from old age and much use of the eyes. They take out the stuff (lens) and modern day cataract, they put in a new silicone lens and they can see perfectly clear almost immediatly after the surgery.

  • ok, gotta stop playing vid games

  • lol that eye got gang banged hahah

  • do all lens fit every eye or is there different size's? also is there a prescription in the lens corrected for the person need? thanks in advanced

  • so that cloudy stuff is removable huh

  • "stop pocking me" says the eye

  • EWEWEWEWEW. D:

Good job with this... I can't see myself stomaching this irl.

  • doesnt that hurt!!??

  • DOES THAT HURT? LOL

  • Is this your eye?

cause I thought refractive lens exchange was only at the age of 45 or ovver

  • bravo to all surgeons

  • wtf?! why is a video like that on youtube?

  • science.

  • the surgeon is putting in the prosthetic lens. he took out the cataract which is basicly the natural lens that has been clouded with old age. the new lens will be like replacing a grimy algae covered clear shower door with a crystal clear new one, only in the eye. haha

  • that thing is sucking the old lens out?

  • whats the thing they put in the eye at the end?

  • is FACO surgery

  • for me looks like a poking pen ouch!

  • what was that that the surgent put in?

  • Why isnt it black? o.0

  • I'm realy sorry but i don't understand...

  • They´re using somekind of light so they can see what they do - so you kinda see the redish back of the eye - at lest I think this is why.

  • Thx ;D

  • its awesome how big the pupil is :)

  • the guy must be dead not to feel this.

  • this is amazing......it's like the surgeon is vacuum cleaning the lens.....cleaning up all the protein that built up in the person's lens....this is soooo cool!!

  • After a while of watching this, you kind of forget it is an eye. I keep waiting for "Reply Hazy, Try Again" to pop up in a little triangle.

  • holy crap that is grows it like water but i hope i dont get that jesh i already need inplants for my teeth for doing a front flip/side and bashed my nee in my mouth and lost three teeth which was adult ones so it sucks but dame thats pain what you had im glad im 14 and not happy i do painful stuff and im maken a youtube show soon of extreme which im probly going to brake a bone or something but me and my freinds are skat boarding and praticing for it

  • This surgery looks expensive

  • why didn't it bloody?

  • I really respect surgeons .. I wanted to be one but that study is soo difficult. But hey i'm still 13 years old i still have time to think about what I want to so with my life.I still have a LOT of time lol

  • This surgeon's very slow!! I do this operation in half the time!

  • hurry is the enemy of perfection :)

Also it is not a game to see who will do it faster. It is better to do slower but good, it's a delicate operation.

  • Who said hurry?! Less 'faffing' is the key!

Also, to all non-surgeons out there, don't be fooled. You could teach a monkey to do this operation. Just takes practice, practice, practice!

  • You can teach a monkey how to do LASIK, not cataract surgery. drob232, let's see your video if you're so slick. Inherently talented surgeons don't need that much "practice". Maybe you do.

  • Boo hoo, is somebody upset?!? No time for you..

  • man its an eye! u have to be careful and dont do something wrong to the patient

  • looks bloody painful

  • my friend . . . it sure does!!!

  • oh...well..that's the medical secreat! creepy for us, but happy at the end

  • Holy fuck! That looks nasty! Oh well, at least you're under anesthesia while that operation happens and the result must be worth it.

  • I'm a surgeon my self and i had to operate cataract surgery once and it may look bad but its not painful at all.i had many great compliments when ive operated this surgery.

  • My eyes hurt

  • i was almost covering my eyes the whole time, like i would rather be blind then have eye surgery, cause you have to stay awake the whole time :/ fuck that

  • That's fuckin' cool.

  • pupil is dilated because of tropicamide a medication used to dilate pupils

  • look at 4:20 its the insertion of an intra ocular lens...cool!!

  • pupil is enlarged probaply due to anasaethia

  • LA does not dilate pupils. It's the mydriatic drugs (tropicamide and phenylephrine). You don't feel pain during the procedure. The surgeon injects a very viscous material into the anterior chamber of the eye to protect the corneal endothelial cells.

  • ok..so you're telling me that they can go in your eye with objects and twist and turn around, but if someone acidentally pokes themselves in the eye it hurts like a bitch??

  • w-w-wait, u tallin me they did the surgery while u were awake! wtf dude, r u still breathin?

  • They have this medicication to where you can't feel anything, whether you're awake or not.

  • This is what the drs want me to sit through whilst awake. Not cool. I've had cataracts for years. I won't allow them to touch my eyes unless i'm not concious

  • why wont they let u be unconsious?

do you sill feel pain whist this is happening?

  • how did u get footage of this?

  • omg

  • you dont feel anything in the eye. you will only feel if they touch the nerves around the eye.

  • WTF this does no damage to the eye?!?

  • The doctors have to be VERY careful, one slip up and the patient could be blind in that eye for the rest of their life.

  • that doesnt look like they are careful, shoving it in and shit.

  • i cant image watching that happen to urself if ur awake.. scary

  • es muy buena.. hoy se opero mi abeula de las cataratas y ya sabemos q le hicieron... =)

  • i kno right how do these ppl learn how to do this so profesionaly seriously man god bless man big time i hope him or her r alright wit that eye

  • Whats Cataract

  • hi.. :) the cataract is the white thing that surrounds the cornea..

  • hwo the fuck did we learn to master this? shit. i feel sorry for the first people who were in this persons position....they served us well. hahaha. damn.

  • lolz i have had this surgery :D For real

  • aren't ppl awake during all this?

  • yes they are awake...mostly in cataract surgery only the eye is anesthetized...

  • whats different?

  • what is the prblem with the eye

  • cataract

  • omggggg can the doctors really get you numb enough to make ALLLLLLL the pain awayyy?

  • ohh..man i feel sorry for my dad he is going to get this done to him tomorrow....im kind of scared for him lol

  • good luck with your dad

  • best wishes!!

  • cataract rulez....

  • Omg, can you see after this operation?

  • WHoa!! dude!

  • so the yellow thing in the eye is the cateract?

  • sick

  • wwoooaaaaa you know how painfull that would be!

  • Omg, are you awake when they do this??

  • yep, it's scary as hell at first, but you don't feel it

  • a cataract is an occlusion of the eye (the cloudy stuff you see in the beginning). This is actually one of the oldest surgeries in history; hence, why it's completed so quickly. You actually have to get under the lens of the eye to remove it. After the occlusion is removed, an artificial lens is placed on top of the pupil. The patient is awake, but is anesthetized. It's actually a very easy surgery.

  • well, aren't you just smart. Just kidding. Thanks for the explanation. i was wondering what the hell was going on and you explained it very well! You a doctor?

  • but you could harm the eye during the operation couldn´t you?

  • in med school =)

i just learned about this recently, so i was just dying to explain it to someone actually, lol

  • dude...

  • damn. i didn't know the eye could take so much punishment. pretty cool surgery.

  • i find this stuff interisting!!!

When i grow up i wanna be a doctor!!!

    Sorry fr my bad english

  • nope your awak through the whole process. they just numb you.

  • do they put u to sleep

  • O.O

  • 0-0 kewl dude

  • Amazed I did not know this :D kewl :D

  • i bet that doc made like a million dollars just off of this surg. lol

  • WTF

  • actually its not as painful

  • wow..doctors are amazing..i could never do dat...I am totally amazed...

  • mmm tasty adn i have to learn it ^^

  • :(that looks painful like hell

  • how painful is hell?

  • this made my eyes water :O

  • The beat had some cataracts...

  • thanks for sharing this video.

  • What does the red and orange colors in the pupil mean?

  • SUPERB.............

  • ok that's a fucked up eye

  • id be pissed if i woke up 1 eye short..lol..

  • It does make a difference which surgeon you go to. Yes some are better than others. However, every LASIK surgery cuts a perfectly "healthy" cornea, permanently scarring the cornea, creating Dry Eye syndrome that exponentially gets worse, and a FLAP that never heals. Do you agree that your eyes change every 5 years? You think you can just go back to contacts life before but now have Dry Eye pain and drops ongoing? I'm against the flap!! That's what is flawed with LASIK and they know it!!

  • fascinating.

  • u mean contacts or cataracts

  • im not rly effected by that kinda stuff ^^(i dont get scared)how come it dosnt bleed ???

  • I was born with cataracts and as it seems they did this to me when I was 3months of age (right eye) and 6 months (left eye) and I bet they did the same to inplant the lenses (3 weeks ago), I was really curious to know how these surgeries are made and I've passed trough it.

Luckly I won't have cataracts ever again. :D

  • nvm i was wrong, I just researched cataracts, its just a clouding of vision that develops into blindness sorry for last comment.

  • wait...so cataracts are things that live in your eye? JESUS! That thing is hard to crab

  • i'm wondering if they take the syringe and suk it up to remove it? Is the patient asleep when its done? this person looks like they have bad cataracts in the one eye.

  • of course the patient is asleep the eye is also paralyzed yes they r sucking it up and they also replace fluid while taking it in the eye

  • I was asking since my mother who has diabetes in the eye has to get this done. She would prob like to know what's going on and what she has to go thru.

  • actually the patient is awake for this surgery. sedated but awake.

  • and i guess he`s giving all the instructions to this surgery :)))))

  • I was born with cataracts in my left eye. I went through two surgeries when I was really young, but they didn't do much for me, so, my eye technically isn't blind, but because I've grown so accustomed to not using it, it basically is blind.

I feel bad for peole who get them, when you're born with something, it's easier to get accustomed to it.

  • I was born with them in both eyes and have already my interocular lenses, I'm pretty happy but won't see 100%.

  • jesus fucking ball face what the fuck!

  • Naasty!!!

  • Is he blind in that eye?

  • I guess if I want to become a doctor when I grow up I will have to get used to this.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

  • really nice amazing surgery called phacoemusification.

by the way it is underwent under local anaesthesia and it only takes 15 to 20 min.

  • Where do they administer the anaesthetic?

  • another life saved, thanks Dr. Stiles! XD

that was disgusting. i think if i had that disease, i would rather die and burn to hell then getting the surgery!

  • Awesome!

  • taht is so fucking nasty!

  • Sweet Jesus, I could never be an eye surgeon.

  • that was a fucking eye! what does the surgery do btw? i only found this vid because im looking for the game, surgency...

  • now I knpw what I just had done 3 days ago. It DID NOT hurt at all. My surgean was great. He kept talking to me and kidding around with the nurses so it was a happy upbeat atmosphere. I am a diabetic and so afraid of losing my eye sight that I wijj do anyrhing I can to save it. The cataracts had norhing to do with the diabetes just another hurdle to get over. Thank you Dr. Vascardi for a great experience. Now I just rely on God to help me.

  • u were awake during THAT! omg that must have been really weird

  • imagine being awake for this *shudders*

  • omg wow

  • And guys, in this surgery, they put you to sleep. But LASIK EYE surgery, youarent, but you get medicen that makes you not feel in your eye. My uncle had it, he said he couldnt even blink, but it was completely painless. He said he SAW the lasers go in his eye, and the blade cut the top layer of his pupil.....

    But COMPLETELY painless.

  • my grandpa just had this done.

  • I think he means that it would become a porn site. People would start to post so many porn videos that they would outnumber everything else.

  • i would hate to have that surgery :\

  • dont be an asshole and generalize all of us just from this 1 out of god knows how many idiots

  • He did a great job !

  • I don't understand what people have against this video.

    it's a cataract surgery.

At least, I think it is so far while Ive been watching it..

Will post back if something oomes up!

  • sdfup they do have a life and they wanna do something nasty and its not bad to post this shit on youtube and u guys are the low lifez for watching it!

    stupid bitchesz

  • gross

  • Get a life sweiland.

At least we have some taste

    in REAL culture...

  • oh yeah, you could say it is educational programming recommended junior high students who need to see how its done. Nudity is seen as a great taboo in America, although I don't know why. Dont be a jerk next time.

  • If nudity was allowed on Youtube, it would be a porn site.
