I have played this game, its hard as hell, actually you get killed once you press start in the title screen. I have heard you can get past it if you use 59 different codes and react with the speed of lightning, but then you just fight Faberge man which attacks by summoning instant death spikes everywhere, 1 life and its over.

I have heard about experts getting all the way to spikedwallman with software emulation but that's it.

Here's a tip for Dr. Wily: change the control scheme so A makes you shoot and B makes you jump, like in Mega Man Anniversary Collection. As much as I like Mega Man, that feature ruined the entire collection for me. They did the opposite of what they've been doing for years. While we're at it, let's make Mega Man die if he lands on solid ground, and the only way to survive is to walk on spikes or walk inside pits for the entire game.

The first one will hurt but is definately possible, the second, just use item 1 from heatman over and over again if the ceiling is high enough, the third, well, people do just that with neta, and the last one--use that glitch that skips like half of the bubble man stage.
