why didn't square make three cds?

@lettucepicker Because they were making Final Fantasy VIII at the same time, had a budget crunch, and decided to skimp on Xenogears to keep FFVIII on schedule. If they had only put the project on hold for a year or so so that they'd have a proper budget instead of rushing an unfinished game out the door. Ah well. Perhaps one day it'll be remade and completed. I know it's wishful thinking, but if you're going to wish, wish big.

To my knowledge some of Xenogears's funding was pulled and given to Final Fantasy VIII.

In hindsight, I can't see a dumber decision in Square's entire history as a gaming company.

And the game STILL turned out to be the best RPG ever (in my opinion).

Some people claim that we have no proof of that. For all we know... Takahashi was just too ambitious and never could do everything he wanted with the money and time he originally had.

But I'm pretty sure he must have left because Square didn't allow him to make sequels/prequels (I think Square was only going to allow it IF enough people bought the game... and it wasn't the case at the time).

Pretty much every game that was not a Final Fantasy got boned at the time. This and the SaGa games are great examples of Squaresofts bigotry to real RPGs.

I do wish they would remake it, well and not screw it up somehow. I know it made some top 100 best video game list at 16 which is really high considering its best video game ever.

I remember first time I played I didn't keep playing after he defeated me, I kept resetting it. Then I used a gameshark for infinite health cause nothing I could do could beat this bastard. I soon found out I was fighting this asshole for 25 minutes straight, so I turned the switch to the gameshark off and let him kill me, cutscene. To this day I always remember that when fighting RPG's bosses. Horrible. The cutscene was worth it though, getting a whole battleship tosses at you. Awesome.

most likely, since there's a debug room [meaning u can enter every scene in the game through rooms] however i would only know this from a print out i did back when it first came out, although that would also mean you need a gameshark or similar device to enter the debug room in the first place, so that would be, A YES :]
