@ScrewU452 Not really, it was even more well thought out than Razer. Its no different from switching weapons on a modular bot or switching teeth on a spinner. Its the correct thing to do - Razer was poorly designed in the respect that it did not have the capacity for a longer weapon or a different weapon entirely. Razer is an great bot yes - but Tornado was just better. If your weapon can be negated that easily, it's not a very well thought out weapon.

Tornado had enough pushing power on its own, I dont see how a steel frame would increase it in any possible way. That makes it a defensive mechanism that was added because they knew they would have lost otherwise.

Battlebots and Robot Wars were a huge thing for me when I was younger. But when they added Mr. Psycho and Growler, then took out two housebots per round... I dunno, that series began to go a bit downhill. The competitors weren't as creative, there was less carnage caused by the housebots and overall, it was like the teams got a bit nastier in person.

The best series was Wars 4, I think. Lots of creativity and lots of metal bits everywhere. Even the losers laughed when they got trashed.

Well basically mate the Tornado team welded on some scaffolding around Tornado so Razer couldnt reach it.

Beside anything else it was completely against the spirit of Robot Wars - the real beauty of the show was to see how the various designs were effective against eachother.

i.e. Chaos2 > HypnoDisk> Pussycat > Razer > Chaos2 and so on.

If Tornado wanted to be world champions they should have fought fair and square as the robot was designed to perform.

just think about it, hypno disc needs time to charge up the power of their disc in order to attack, however you know that razer comes in and gives the death grip over its opponents { watch razer vs terrorhurtz from robotwarsmania }, this death grip of razer's is rare to get away from and hypno disc is now exposed to being got under by low ground clearances, so Razer is the likely winner.

Well whether or not it was technically against the rules is one thing mate - it was just the fact that it was completley not in keeping with the spirit of Robot Wars!!

Maybe it wouldnt have been so bad if it was a genuinley crafted bit of engineering - or even in keeping with the aesthetics of the robot!

But it was simply just a few bars put together on a TIG welder, and bolted on quickly, just to stop Razors weapon from functioning properly..

it just didnt seem right somehow!

@juujoo200 well when they got to the final, the tornado team welded on this piece of scaffolding around tornado that was the exact reach of Razors jaw. (hence Razor didnt have a weapon and the match was won by Tornado.)

If they hadnt welded that on (and bare in mind they didnt even bother to brand or paint what they put on) then the pure design genius of Razor would have destroyed them.
