  • CALIFORNIA WHITE MESCALINE APOCALYPTIC GOVERNMENT CHEESE FAMILY (HINGE): Madonna & David Lee Roth & Supergirl & Britney Spears & THE TIMMY SHOW & DJ Chris Green SR

  • BELLBOYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!

  • @ammittei- indeed, but it's fuckin late, as per usual !

  • You spelled John Entwistle wrong

  • Out of my brain on the train on the train!

  • Keith Moon... you left us WAY too soon!!! I know that you're using those eight amazing arms (lol), to assist the angels in rocking!!! RIP!

  • @diamondsammy12: Unfortunately Moon was on his way out of the band in '78. The others couldn't cope with his drug and alcohol addiction/unpredictability. Shame, but true.

  • I SO OVER WRITING COMMENTS, but... YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!! : ) Thank you for taking the time to create this fabulous video!!!

  • Tell the thumbs downers to f* off!!! This video totally ROCKS!!!

  • well zkxv ,,, i dont really think leslie claypool really gives a shit about what your thoughts are about him ,,, and yes like it or not rocky rockwell was the first to smash his gear ,,, like it or not i realy dont care nor is it important ,, but i was ten years before pete did,,, now stop being a fuck tard and look it up ,,,

  • haha we used to trash our dorm room to this after friday happy hour

  • I love this song

  • good music...good band....

  • They would call John's amps "Manhatten" because of his marshal stackswere so high just to keep his sound level with keiths...if thats not a bad ass name for badass amps for a badd ass assist, then idk what is

  • When people would see Hendrix on stage, they would tell Pete "He's copying your act." Pete would reply "No, he's DOING my act!" Also, Pete was the first to stack a pair of 4x12 Marshall cabinets on top of each other.

  • @zkxv hey fuck tard go look it up ,,, i really dont give two shits about your thoughts on the matter it simply is what it is ,,, oh and its leslie claypool ,,, im lester ,, fucking stupid people ,,,

  • I'm currently reading a book about The Who. In 1966, Chas Chandler was managing Jimi Hendrix and they came to watch The Who rehearse. During a break, Jimi walked over to see what kind of guitar amplifiers Pete was using to get that heavy heavy monster sound. Pete tried to strike up a conversation, but Hendrix seemed aloof; like he was too cool for the room. After that Hendrix started copying Townshend's trademark smashing guitars and going wild on stage. (continued) ----->

  • @zkxv really well you need to look up rockin rocky rockwell from 1956 ,,, he smashed his guitars on the lawerence welk show in 1956 ,,, thats ten years before townsend did ,,, but i think before this jerry lee lewis smashed his piano on stage ,,, just google rockin rockey rockwell ,,, peace

  • @zkxv ya thats rocky rockwell ,,,go look iy up and it was ten years before pete did it ,,, dont like the truth ? dont really care it is what it is ,, and by the way ,,, thats leslie claypool im ,, lester claypool ,,, whats the point talking to you is like running a special olympics race even if you win your still retarded ,,, bwaaa ha ha ha now go look it up

  • @lesterclaypool1 I looked it up dicksmoke! Your half right. Rocky Rockwell was a trumpet player in Welks band. He often did a spoof of current songs. After his version of Hound-dog, he breaks an acoustic guitar over his knee. He "air" guitars", the whole thing because like I said, he plays trumpet. They were making fun of Elvis, they weren't fans, all the squares mocked what they didn't understand! You can watch it on you-tube.

  • @333plug wow another tool who cant comprehend what they read ,,, listen arse hole i was stating a fact and i didnt say townsted got ,,, stole this ,,, or was even by the slightest way refer to townsted stealing this ,,, read what i wrote fool i said this rocky rockwell did it first ten years before townsted and thats a fact moron ,,, and thats the way its documented ,,, now go read the comments arse hole and fuck off back to your penis shaped pillow and jerk off with your own tears ,,,

  • @lesterclaypool1 To see the clip you are talking about, type in Lawrence Welk- Hound Dog. Its safe to bet his name is made up also (Rocky-Rock-Well), They hated rock because their type of music wasn't as popular, and it cost them big money. To say Pete's style evolved from this is sketchy. But you (sperm burp) bought it!

  • @333plug i didnt say his style evolved from this did i ? no i didnt ,,, read what i fucking wrote you pathetic self admiring tool ,,, your to fucking stupid to under stand what i wrote arent you ? yes you are ,, now as i said you can return to your ward and jerk off with your own tears on your penis shaped pillow you use lee tool ,,, READ THE COMMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lesterclaypool1 Man you get that worked up over you-tube comments. Don't skip your meds bra!

As far as the penis shaped pillow, your not allowed to advertise what you sell on EBAY, or your post may be flagged as spam. Its amazing how brave we are behind our monitors. I bet your a 14 year old pimply face brat, mad because your balls aint dropped yet. Goodbye, its been a blast!

  • @333plug hey im just giving you the facts ,,, you dont comphend what you read your you would nt change the actual meaning of what you read ,, and your in shopping for a penis shaped pillow you shall surely find one ,,, dont like the truth dont care it remains ,, and if i were a 14 year old which im not than you would look even stupider because that would mean a 14 year old shut you and your big mouth down ! now as i said back to your pillow

  • @333plug Hey dick face you just owned

  • Happy B-Day Roger!!!

  • Yep Why should I care? It's true

  • I like a lot this band, cause they was a versatile band together,in an incredible way, they made a song like this, not so rock, but still rockin, and then you listen another song like,I dont know, "we wont get fooled again" or "my generation",even "who are you" they got a lotta ways to rock, thats what I most like of this band, is a shame that today doesnt exist bands like this anymore :(

  • SWASTIKA_QUADROPHENIA@~08:33:04am-EST_SATURDAY _FEBRUARY_19_2011AD

  • One of Pete Townshend's great rock & roll songs. Hey, remember the "Quad" sound where you needed 4 speakers..lasted about one year!! At least the 8 track tapes last a little longer about 3-4 years of trying to untangle the tapes! LOL

  • 5 Justin Beiber fans hit the dislike button!

  • @Richieman11 309 Who fans hit the like button! Justin Bieber is irrelevant.

  • There should be a national law stating that everybody must listen to this song at 5:15 every night.

  • @brianpage100????? doesn't a mandate like that kinda challenge the rebellious "no rules" nature of quadrophenia?????? but i would listen to it at 5:15 on my own accord...

  • The best part was at 5:15

  • @CentaCross why should they care

  • You DO wonder why a band makes a song called 5:15 and neglects setting that as the length...

  • @CentraCross

5.15 is a term used to describe a mundane life I believe. As in people taking the same train home after a 9-5 job. Life becomes routine and boring, correct me if I'm wrong though

  • @2JOHNNYT aye the cia got the wrong cunt it was the slitty eyed bitch they wanted but hey u gotta take wot u get when u send a yank to do a job eh?

  • Now this is ROCK N ROLL!! Not the balless effeminate sissy crazy the make today

  • the heros are used....

  • Keith Moon: There is no substitute!

  • @Sbavni

All 4 of the Who were incomparable. Keith Moon's drumming, John Entwhistle's bass, Pete Townsend's guitar, and Roger Daltry's vocals. Just inimitable. My favorite band by far.

  • After suffering Thatcher, Suits, X Fucktor etc... Good to remember we`ve had some fantastic creatives on our island.. This is the Dogs wotsits.

  • Why should I care???

  • yes! yes! yes! my 2nd favourite band ever. which is still good!

  • why does the music sound 'tinny'?

  • Why should I care,why shouls I care?

  • Needs more 'The Ox' bass solo, if you ask me ;)

  • @Astrosimi THE GREATEST BAND THAT WILL EVER BE!!! I HAVEN'T FOUND ONE YET, AND IT'S BEEN ALMOST 50 YEARS!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S A LONG FUCKING TIME!!!!!!

  • @dersh65 Led Zep ...

  • Like a fine wine.

  • @dersh65 dude...Zepp, the beatles? they don't count?

  • @OmniTron1000 The Who.

  • I love the piano intro to this song, does anyone know or have a good piano tab to this??? I would love to play it. Love The Who :P x

  • Why should I care?..cause this is an awesome song..that's why :)

  • I think this is the only song I've ever heard with a bass guitar solo.

I've got to find Quadrophenia somewhere other than iTunes

  • @LSA2013 "The Real Me" was basically one long bass solo. It's also on Quadrophenia

  • F-ing brilliant!!!!!!....alll I have to say

  • TUNE this is coming from my 12 year old son!

  • This is the ultimate Who song.

  • This video should have been 22 seconds longer ...

  • I use to smoke a lot of pot. Everytime the clock hit 5:15, I smoked up.

  • taken the train from london to brighton on many occasions and always think of and feel the emotion of this song and the anticipation of excitement it seems to promise.

pete's playing is never better than on quadrophenia....magnificent bluesy feel, very clean with not too much distortion. the older i get, the less i like distortion and that applies to life in general, not just music. seen them live a few times with moony....they're the dog's...

  • @davidbowles100 Are you a Scouser?

  • @AllisonBarmouth no,i'm a good old london boy....now living in sweden. i do support liverpool fc though if it's any help!

    regards db.

  • "Gear song you got four no talent gizzers who can jam like no other band" Quote from a interview after release album Quadrophenia.I think Pete said it.

  • Damn That's Good. There's not too many Who songs i like, but when they hit it, they hit square on. Thats for sharing

  • outta my brain, on the train, on the train...

  • I remember being a snot nosed kid in 5th or 6th grade in the 70's putting the headphones on and falling asleep to Quadrophenia for nights on end. This song had so much meaning to me that I used in for my PIN number for decades. Then had to give it out for an emergency, which I toiled over like George Costanza did in the Seinfeld episode. I hated having to change it. Now that I think of it "why should I care, why should I care................."

  • @generationx1966 - This was the defining LP of my youth...It got me thrown out of school.....Decades later when I'm driving a scooter through Rome, I cannot get it out of my head...Who'd want to!

  • Outta my brain on the train!

  • I remember so many times listening to this song cuz my parents are young and awesome-Im 31 and my dad is 51---learn the goodies from the "elders"

  • Loving THE WHO forever in the U.S.A.

  • out of my brain on the 5:15

  • never thought about it before but Roger Daltry kinda looked like Christopher Walken when he was younger.

  • All of the brass instruments are played by John. Amazing.

  • "Magically bored on a quiet street corner,

Free frustration in our minds & our toes!"

    Lee

    Liverpool Mods.

  • douche it went, The Detours, The Who, Then the high numbers then back to the Who, not the high numbers then the Who

  • perfect (y)

  • where have i been? out of my head AT 5:15

  • Why should I care?

  • My favorite Who song ever...Thanks for the post!!

  • for fuck's sake... even the uploader mucked up John's last name!

  • you know the band is badass when the lead guitarist impales his hand on a whammy bar

  • @CaptainHellblaze As you probably know, Pete got a doctor in the audience to bandage his hand, and he finished the concert. I'd have been passed out on the stage.

  • One of the greatest bands ever.

  • Theyre not one of the greatest bands ever

    Theyre THE best band ever

  • I agree.

  • @keefer2111 ...If not THE!

the best rhythm section to come out of the "invasion" with out a doubt! The first mainstream punk band and the musician's choice of favorites. Broke true ground on so many levels. and I STILL GET GOOSE BUMPS LISTENING TO THEM.

  • The thing is, it's really damn hard to define "rhythm section" when it comes to the Who. How John and Keith played, you could quote Noel Gallagher here and just say everyone's playing lead. Heh.

  • Well I would never quote that twat. Page tried to wisk them away to be Led Zep, their name is said to be made up by Moon.

  • we are the mods we are the mods we are we are we are the mods. this song just rules best nuff said!

  • omg this kid has liked punk for 2-3 years about....who gives a shit?

  • cool tribute to my fave Who song.....thanks!!!!!

  • best Who song ever written

  • Well presented and well thought out it really took me back to my youth...congrats

  • Every radio station should play this song today...5/15

  • true dat!!!!!!

  • true that*

  • thankyou mate

  • Hmm, well from what I read, they were first called the Detours and had all the members except for Moon. When he joined they called themselves the Who, but a few months later they were picked up by their first manager and he suggested they call themselves the High Numbers (why, I forget). After they fired him, they returned to being the Who, and coincidentally it was discovered years later that there was another band in London called the Who, but they had broken up by that time.

  • Yeah i knew this mainly cos my dad has given me the lifestory on the who and he is a mod and he brought me up on all things mod. Last night i went and saw Quadrophenia on stage with him. Actors were brilliant. I would suggest to anyone to go and see it.

  • haha your dad is a saddo.

  • Been a Who fanatic since I was 9. I'm now 44. Would love to see Quadrophenia stage show, if they ever bring it to the states. Seen the Who over 25 times in the past 30 years. Never disappoint.

  • Do you live in California? I was in Quad back in '07.

  • No, I live in New Jersey. You were in Quadrophenia? That's cool. What part did you play?

  • When they did the show in Anaheim and LA, I was just ensemble, but I guess you could say I was a tweaked version of Yvonne. It was a dream. Quad or die!

  • That's very cool!! How long have you been acting and singing?

  • Oh lord, not for a long time. ^-^ I just got very lucky, and I happened to be there when they needed another girl to add to the cast. I'm not sure what the cast is up to now, but at the time Pete Townsend was really against the show. So it was just us and Daltrey, basically. I'm so, so happy Townsend and Daltrey are on good terms again, it's about bloody time.

  • Worked with Daltrey? Very cool. I'll be seeing him in Atlantic City in Nov. Then hopefully a Who tour will follow shortly. Pete still rules after all these years!!
