This and the Crown Vic are icons of America. Too bad the American Automakers didn't give much attention to them. The Lincoln Town Car is not sporty but so does a Rolls Royce Phantom.
It's kind of like the Toyota Century of Japan. It looks Jurassic but it's got nav, massaging seats, about anything you'd have in a Lexus LS.
I love how it looks so classy despite outdated unlike the MKZ.
Absolutely beautiful car. This model is the rare and now non-existant Cartier edition -you can tell by the interlocking C's on the seat back. The last year of this model was 2003 I believe.
Beautifufl car, i'm glad they still make these. I prefer the 80's ones, but this is also very nice! It's great to see they are still making a real car.
I did not like this design, as the body frame was also the same as the LTD and Grand Marquise. I prefer the traditional Lincoln of the early 1980's as it was the best styled Lincoln.
@patsaxon Yeah the Towncar,Grand Marquis, and Crown Victoria have all been built on a platform that really hasn't changed much since 1978...but they are very solid, reliable, comfortable cars.
Im 26 and I drive my moms Lincoln more than she does... I love it.. The inside has more luxury than some Lexus and Benz do..The Lincoln line is being redone for 2011 with dropping alot of Mercury cars. Before hand for the past couple of years the Town Car had to be special ordered. Lincoln has really stepped up..and the Town Car WILL be updated and redone for 2011. Lincolns are no longer cheap either.. For the price of a MKZ I could also have bought a Benz, BMW, or Cadillac!! Jap luxury cars sux

@SladeTide20 Do you know something that we dont??? On fords web page they say that the Lincoln Town Car will be dead as of the end of the 2011 model year just like the Ford Crown Victoria.
Who still drives these things. The last person I knew who owned one was my Grandfather and that was back when I was a kid. What is appealing about this thing? It might ride like well, but you should never take it around a corner because its built like a boat. I was reading the specs on the 2011 model and it seams nothing has changed. This car has been the same for the last 10 years. A 4.6 puting out less than 300 horses? Wow it better be as reliable as buick then.
@flatblackstrat It's actually very difficult to perfect something that is nearly if not already perfect. If you want tight cornering ability and hp, then a sport car would be what you would want. If you want a soft quiet ride in which you can enjoy a nice living room conversation and a cup of tea without spilling it because it is that smooth, then the Lincoln Town Car is what you want. This is why limosime companies prefer the Lincoln Town Car over any other manufacturer. No company touches it.
@Mixedbreed3 The town car is far from perfect in any car enthusiasts mind. I think it is perfect in the mind of the elderly who have no need for anything modern. The only reason they keep this car is of course for the Taxi services, Elderly simpletons, and Limousine conversions. Not really a mass market appeal from a business prospective but hey if your not updating it..... your not really loosing any money on it either.
@flatblackstrat I actually am a car enthusiast, but I guess I also fall in the category of Elderly simpleton as a recently turn 39 year young gentleman. I currently drive a full size sedan and I love it's space. The only other sedan I would consider is the L series Lincoln because of it's rear legroom. I enjoy transporting passengers, but I enjoy more so when they are completely comfortable as I transport them and the Town Car's air ride suspension is second to none.
@Mixedbreed3 39 is not really Lincoln territory IMO but if it's what you like thats your business. People must still be buying them if they are still making them and I suppose for the price you can't buy a bigger sedan these days.
@flatblackstrat I am not necessarily a fan of Ford but in my opinion, I believe they set a standard for what a luxury car should be without having the high price of the germans and japanese. I am still all for japanese models personally, but the Lincoln Town Car has the interior room that no other manufacturer has matched thus far for the money. The L series brings tears to my eyes when I think about its' 123.7 inch wheelbase resulting in 6 additional inches of legroom for my rear passengers.
@TheDeathpill Live rear axle. Ancient pushrod engine. All low end torque. Yeah it's definitely not a sports car. But most cars do not have a solid read axle anymore, or pushrod motors, luxury sedan or not. The only company that has pulled it off was Ford in the Mustang, and Chevy in the corvette. Best live rear axle setup, and best OHV engine design.
@flatblackstrat There has not been a pushrod motor in a big ford in nearly 20 years. This has a 4.6L Modular V8 which is just now being replaced by the newer 5.0L modular motor. Too bad the big fords will be dead before they can get the new 6speed transmissions and 5.0 motors :-(
@mustang633NY sometime in the future, somebody is post a video of a crown vic, grand marquis, or town car with a swapped 5.0...I know because there a few vid's posted of crown vic's with a 5.4 v-8
@flatblackstrat you can actually do some modifications to the engine to get more hp and tq., and maybe even 1 or 2 more mpg....the 4.6 has been around since I was 1, and I'm gonna be 21 in February....that's how old the 4.6 actually is...
@chpman2013 Theirs no point in putting lipstick on a pig. Nobody buys this car for it's performance or gas mileage. And a majority of the owners wouldn't know how to do any bolt on work. They don't make a CAI for and all the after market parts are just replacements and not performance..
@chpman2013 well the OHC 4.6L has been used in all RWD and 4 wheel drive vehicles ford makes... some are DOHC (dual over head cam) and others are a single over head camshaft. theres LOTS of aftermarket stuff for this motor - this car also has a ford 8.8 inch rear end (as far as i know) which is a popular unit often times put into jeeps and other vehicles. The transmission might even have some aftermarket stuff for it too - at least in the way of PCM (engine/transmission computer) programing
Whenever I can think of a proper American Luxury sedan, All I can think of is the Cadillac CTS. This is one of my favorite shapes in the car industry but I think they should've aimed for an even upper game like how Hyundai did and look at how they did with the Genesis and now the Equus. Lincoln should step up to the game with the Town Car. It's one of the most known names in the industry so it should be up there with the S Class, XJ, 7 series and A8.
Lincolns are great....the town car carries the Lincoln feel of years gone by. I LIKE that. I'm 23 and I bought one on purpose.......the ride, safety, and comfort are absolutely amazing! (And the power is adequate, if not better than most other cars.)
man i got excited when i saw this thinking they came out with a new body style. outdated! lincoln is slowly commiting suicide. bring back the mark 9 and save yourselves!
arent they slowly killing off this car? currently for the 2009 model range I thought they got rid of sunroofs being an option + other thigns to make it a "fleet sale only" type of vehicle
@88BroughamLS that interior is a 2003 Town Car Cartier.... Fogs haven't been available since 07... they were standard in 07 on Designer, optional only on sig limited in 06, Not offered in 05, and optional in Ultimate and Ultimate L in 04... In 03, standard on all cartier series but NA on all others...
The Lincoln Town Car is a very rare car here in Germany. But I would like to buy one, because it´s a very cheap, nice and luxurious car ;-) And BIG of course ;-)
I have driven this car across the country (from Tamarisk and The Springs Country Club in Palm Springs to Chicago) about 6 times. A 34 hour+ trip. This car is so comfortable you only have to stop to eat and refuel, you don't have to stop to rest. My legs did not get cramped, I had plenty of room to stretch them out. This is a REAL car.

Damn shame Ford killed the Town Car. It was such a nice ride. If they were smart they would bring it back based on the ford interceptor concept.
