  • No! Obama didn't know what he was getting into.

He thought everything was cut and dry but found out that it wasn't so. if he pull the troops out now, it would be a sign of weakness and the positive that the soldiers have made would of been taken away.

  • lol now the obama supporters are resorting to the doublethink tactics... their cult leader is showing his true colors and disappointing a lot of his sheep. hahah im loving it =)

  • Things are going to turn around watch.

Obama is not going to complete what he said 100%

but it will be no lower then 90%

  • Hmm, in his first week in he started a bombing campaign in Pakistan? Why? hmm??/ Barack is continuing Bush policy and that pisses you off and it should you were betrayed and lied to...who would of thought voting for a guy you don't know anything about just cuz he is black would turn out to be a bad decision, lol...

  • 1. i voted for john edawrds and even donated $200...-_-

    2. He's a lot better then john mckain.

    3. The man only been in power for 2 months, chill out!

  • What kind of name is Barack Hussein Obama?...

Farrahkan says that Obama is a lot like "Muhammad", Islam's "savior".

Obama is a very slick speaker.... It is a scary thought that he could become President.. We really don't know what he stands for and against...

"Obama is actually a closet black racist who will turn the White House into a black Muslim enclave"

  • Obama is just another politician, his decision to "refine his policies" doesn't shock me in the least. The only candidate who hasn't changed his position EVER is Ron Paul. Join the revolution.

  • changed his position on Iraq, withdrawl and time tables

    gun control

    late term abortion

    telecommunications ( wiretapping)

    merit pay for teachers

  • (Help stop WW3, get educated, spread the word) RON PAUL REVOLUTION (Join a militia) Fluoride(in TAP WATER) is very harmful to infants and a fetus! Fluoride is the main poison in RAT KILLER. -->Look up the following on youtube... *Dick Cheney Exposed *Larry Silverstein pull it *North American Union and Vchip *Alex Jones Predicts 911 --->Look up on Googlevideo com *America Freedom to Fascism *The Money Masters *Ring of Power *Zeitgeist Spread the word about all of this and the RON PAUL REVOLUTION
  • this is the same thing he said in the CNN debate with Hilary. He got flack for it back then, too. Only now we gotta make it sound like he's moving to the right.

  • Cenk.. I don't want to sound naive, but "refine" does not = staying in iraq... It means assessing the situation.. That would be my guess..

  • If your position is to get out of Iraq. You been saying Iraq is a disaster, we should have never gone to there in the first place and I will bring the troops home. But then you say " Depending on what the commanders tell me, I will refine my policy"...

Now, wait one second! You been saying that you are going to bring our troops home. And then all of a sudden, it turns into a decision that has to be refined and discussed with the commanders?....

  • Exactly. If the Democrats actually WANTED to get out of Iraq, they would have elected Kucinich or Gravel.

  • I am a bit weary of Gravel. He has said a one world government is inevitable and is actually a good thing. Kucinich on the other hand, I really like. I liked him second to Ron Paul. Both candidates would have done what they said...None of this flip flopping shit...Especially on the war.

  • Hmmm . . . never heard that comment about a one world government. And yes, Ron Paul was the best along with Kucinich.

  • Yeah but they were crazy, I proud that the first person I ever voted for is Ron Paul, I told all my friends that thought Obama was the second coming, he's a traditional politican and he'll prove that, in the general.

  • Obama supporter need to get informed or stop being in denial about Obama if they trully want to end and occupation in Iraq.

    Obama's own website states:

"Under the Obama plan, A RESIDUKE FORCE WILL REMAIN IN IRAQ and in the region TO CONDUCT TARGETED COUNTER TERROISM MISSIONS AGAINST AL QAEDA in Iraq"

    ----

    Watch youtube video entitled:

"Ralph Nader on Ending the Occupation of Iraq (2004)"

It's the same choice as 2004 again.

    Vote Ralph Nader.

Vote to end Iraq war & occupation.

  • Yes, he has to discuss it with the commanders to figure out the safest way to get out of Iraq.. That seems logical to me. They have alot of equipment in Iraq and there must be a plan to best get them out of there.. He's not changing his mind. he even came right after the speech and made it clear. Other than that I have no idea what else he's "refining", I'm not a psychic. but it's stupid for people to put words in his mouth even after he had to come and reiterate his position.

  • Not when you won the primaries on a anti-war platform. He stated time and time again that he was totally against the war from the beginning. He stated that we went there on lies and also said he would bring them home within 13 months...Now, he has to refine that position? I'll tell you what is going to be refined. The timetable will be swept under the carpet, and there will not be a full withdrawel.

  • Okay mr. psychic, Can you also tell me the loto number too so I can win a couple of millions?

  • My prediction is not off base. Do you watch political talkshows and call all of them psychics? Because that is all they do all day! Speculate and cast predictions!

Obama is the one who came up with the 13 month timetable for withdrawel, not me! Obama is the one who has been standing on the anti-war platform. Just like the rest of the democrats this past elections. Yet, they voted in favor of the surge!

Obama is backpeddling now. Its politics! He is playing the game, and winning...

  • "my prediction is not off base" and I'm here to tell you that it is.Its amazing all this "flip-flopping"argument in regards to his iraq position comes from one word "refine"which obama has quickly reiterated again and again it does not mean staying in Iraq. I said this before, it makes perfect sense to talk to experts in Iraq on how to safely get out as soon as possible. I don't believe that it's "flip flopping". It's assessing the situation.I'm sorry, but I don't listen to absurd speculations.

  • Obama supporter need to get informed o stop being in denial about Obama if they trully want to end and occupation in Iraq.

    Obama's own website states:

"Under the Obama plan, A RESIDUKE FORCE WILL REMAIN IN IRAQ and in the region TO CONDUCT TARGETED COUNTER TERROISM MISSIONS AGAINST AL QAEDA in Iraq"

Only Amy Goodman on Deomocracy Now challenged Obama on not ending Iraq occupation.

Watch & share youtube video entitled:

"Amy puts Obama in the hot seat"

    -------

    Vote Ralph Nader.

  • here I found a pic of Cenk with Obama. pretty funny

    oldhacks blogspot com/2008/07/cenk-hearts-obama.html

  • Go Obama!!!!!!!! Obama '08

  • republican??? um you believe in partial birth abortion? gay marriage?? higher taxes?

you are not republican you are a fucking liberal dick weed. if you like gays go suck a dick you piece of shit!

  • I don't agree with you on this one Cenk. I think you're reading too much in and maybe were influenced by the way the media reorted it. It's not impossible he'll change, but I don't think so. Anyway, the Iraqui politicians are even catching up with their voters and saying they want us out too. So I think it's very unlikely Obama will flip on this.

  • more than 70% of Iraqi's already wanted the US out of Iraq during the primaries, and the Iraqi PM has recently called for a timetabled withdrawl. Obama may end the war, but if people had listned to fineprint carefully he never planned on ending the occupation, but allowd the media and the capaign to give that impression.

Watch Obama's interview with AMy Goodmand on Democracy Now who was the only person who challenged Obama on it.

    Watch youtube video called:

"Amy puts Obama in the hot seat"

  • shit can I get the $100 back that I gave to BO campaign?

  • i knew this was goin to happen

  • I bought a used car from Obama back in the 90's. that mutha f'er has a silver tongue. the car blew up 7 days after i drove off his lot. Damn!

  • "Refine" does not equal discard. Based on military consulting, a refined withdrawal plan could just as well be fifteen months, instead of the goal of sixteen months. People need to buy a dictionary.

  • 100% agree.

Refine: to make more fine, subtle, or precise.

Doesn't sound like a flip-flop to me. Media definitely distorted this one out of context.

  • Obama = Spineless Democrat

  • He has always said, we will be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in. What does that mean to you? Where is the flipflop? Cenk, you are picking up their talking point. You are picking up the marker. He is still committed to withdrawal, 16 months is still the target. But you cannot withdraw 130k troop without military logistical guidance. He would be stupid to try. Brownback is playing you, Cenk. Commmme Onnnnn!!!

  • When Cenk said "classic politician" he hit upon a very key issue here.

Yeah it's the CONVENTIONAL THINKING to "run to the right" but this is not a conventional election! This the most important election in our lifetime with MANY new voters.

Obama's flip-flopping and "refining" makes him look like a spineless democrat of the type that say "yes master" everytime the neocons crack the whip on them.

And what kind of "change" is that?

Not change worth voting for. It's causing a huge backlash.

  • Obama's making all kinds of rookie political mistakes.

  • Obama sucks

  • I will say that Obama's playing a dangerous game right now, but in my mind he should do everything he can to win, including compromising his ideals temporarily

4 more years of Bush SuperSenior would be absolutely devastating

  • Cenk's gone a bit overboard on his speculations regarding Obama's stance on Iraq, although I'll admit Obama's tempered his anti-war rhetoric quite markedly since the end of the primary and shifted to the right on key issues

but when a politician calls for an "immediate withdrawal" from Iraq, that means that the withdrawal will take place over at least 16 months, anything less would be unrealistic

  • Cenk you my boy but you need to shut the fuck up on this one. Obama hasn't flip flopped on this at all bro...The man has said from day one that this was an ill advised war that should have never been waged. Obviously he's gonna pull our troops out of Iraq. He's being realistic about the situation instead talking BULLSHIT in our ears. He intends to get our troops out in 16 months but if for whatever reason there are occational spikes in violence it may take a little longer. COMMEN SENCE thinking.

  • MSNBC through the Countdown (w/ Keith Olbermann)... went through this and explained it accurately.

Obama is saying pretty much everything he has already said... and this situation shows how persuasive Republicans can be.

They even got Cenk on this one... :\

  • Here is the TRUTH about Obama's position on Iran. Recently Prez Ahmadinijad declared a Holy War on the American Barbie doll as a symbol of American immorality. Now, Big Boy Barack if going to Iran to sit down with Ahmadinijad and negotiate the type of dresses and scarfs that Barbie will wear to get the Irannian Prez to undo the Holy War. Then the price of oil will go down and they will start loving Israel, and "there will be peace in our time"(Chamberlain). See u in Iran

    Jake Sunrider

  • you are joking right?

  • test.

  • I am a long time watcher of "the young turks"

But, I have to disagree with you on this one, getting the troops out in 16 months is the statement that he stands by. just because he said that he will try to listen to the people fighting on the ground to figure out how to do this in a safe fashion. It does not change the 16 month thing.

  • This 16 month timetable is what the lie was. He said he's the only candidate that promises a deadline, but then can't promise that deadline as needs flexibility for circumstances. So why have the 16 month timetable promise at all.

Also if people listned to the fineprint carefully, he stars a sentence of having ALL troops out, then follows with THE EXCEPTION of troops remaining to protect the embassy and a strike force in the region of Iraq or Kuwaitt. Therefore ends war NOT OCCUPATION.

  • Obama has been successful in giving people the impresson he will end war and the ccupation in Iraq, whilst also being ambiguous enough to cover him from stating it was his position all along.

Only 1 person challenged Obama through tha carefully scripted rhetoric which was AMy Goodman on Democracy Now which the national media is not showing the public.

Listen to the interview unscripted and he's a very differnt candidate. Watch youtube video entitled:

"Amy puts Obama in the hot seat"

  • Compare Obama's interview with AMy Goodman and his ambiguous speeches on Iraq with Ralph Nader in 2004 and 2008 where he's been consistent in wanting a timetabled withdraw from Iraq in 6 months, ending wa AND occupation, and focusing on reconstuction.

    Watch youtube videos entitled:

"Amy put Obama on the hot seat"

"Ralph Nader on Ending the Occupation of Iraq (2004)"

    "Nader on Iraq"

  • Obama hasn't changed policy, people are only now starting to pay attention. Even the Fisa bill meets his origional requirement of bringing to Fisa court back. The immunity that the bill provides only applies to civil, not criminal lawsuits. What's the problem?

  • "Obama hasn't changed policy, people are only now starting to pay attention."

    @ beansnrice321,

that is true & it is time for Obama supporters & the media to start paying attention.

    Obama's own website states:

" Under the Obama plan, A RESIDULE FORCE WILL REMAIN IN IRAQ and in the region TO CONDUCT TARGETTED COUNTER TERROISM MISSIONS AGAINST AL QAEDA in Iraq"

He's continuing the occupation, and not technically ending the war.

    Vote Ralph Nader.

Vote to end the war & occupation.

  • "The people who say this apparently haven't been listening to me."

Cenk, you are one of those people.

  • Cenk. Look at the debate from last October; Obama said this exact same thing back then. His plan has always called for a phased withdrawal, with hopes of being done in 16 months. This has ALWAYS been the position! I'm sad that you are promoting the notion that it has somehow changed. I call BULLSHIT on this video. Go back and listen to his answers on this question from nearly a year ago. A little research buries this faux flip-flop bullshit. Shame on you.

  • If he's lazy he can just watch Countdown from the other night, Rachel Maddow (filling in) showed the clips and came to the same conclusion.

  • What the hell are you doing? Are you taking up the Republican talking points? He hasn't even changed any of the policies. What he is saying is that I will talk to the commanders on the ground for how the best way to withdraw. WTF, man!

  • Cenk, I'm very disappointed in you on this topic. You are way behind the curve. Obama had a speech the other day where he vows that he will get us out of Iraq. It might not be his 16 months. It might be 20 months. It might be 12 months.

You're talking about a media cycle that is like 6 days old while McCain has been the latest flip flopper on Iraq. Their govt. wants us out or a timetable. McCain said in 2004 we would have to respect those wishes of a stable govt. Guess what he says now?

  • The bottom-line is that this is an illegal war of agression; we should not be there. We have already set up a government, and Iraq wants us out! Obama is bull-shitting you! We need to come home NOW!!!

You democrats had a great chance with heors such as Kucinich and Gravel; but no, you voted for the nice smile!

Well, at least democrats didn't nominate Hillary who IS the same thing as Bush, just in a different form.

  • I'm gonna show you how freakin stupid you are.

You really think Kucinich could beat McCain in an election? Dude, the Republicans would have a fucking field day with him!!! He would end up losing worse than Walter Mondale. All the Republicans would have to do is make 1 single TV ad saying that Kucinich believes in little green men from the Planet Xygroquckist and then run the clip of him saying he saw a UFO. Election over.

I love Kucinich and his policies but get real!! He couldn't win.

  • So? At least there would be a choice, instead of more of the same. Obama sometimes shows he is different, but when the heat is on he always pussy's out.

  • Dude, sometimes you have to compromise for the overall improvement. And if you really believe what Obama is saying right now as the truth then I have one thing to say to you.

In 2000 Bush ran on him being a "uniter, not a divider". So you really going to believe something a Presidential candidate says in the heat of a campaign?

  • This is just my critique of him. He voted for the Patriot Act the second time it came around; he still funds the Iraq War; and he voted for the FISA Bill!

You can trust that Obama will turn out good, but I'm not trusting him, not one bit! Until he shows some real back-bone that seperates himself from the Washington elite, I will not trust him or support him.

  • Cenk is clearly biased and is clueless on Obama's positions on anything. You pretty much have already said what's been on my mind. Obama actually isn't nearly as liberal as he's been accused of being.

Either way Obama might refine his policy and make it a lot sooner than he was originially planning. Iraq wants us to set a time table on Iraq.

  • I wouldn't say he's clueless. I share his outrage about FISA and everything. But Cenk does need to calm down when it comes to Obama saying things like he MIGHT refine his policy.

I actually applaud Obama for seeking advice from the military leaders before making his agenda. That's how a president should be. Seek the advice from the experts and then come up with a plan based on their advice.

But I guess Cenk's old Republican ways sees that as Elitist or something.

  • swaggajee: Cenk I thought is a heavy liberal or at least I thought he was. When someone revises an opinion it's considered a flip flop?! Gee that must make everyone a flip flopper than.

  • according to countdown, his position haven't changed..

  • Some of us here have been saying there is little,if any, difference between Obama and McCain. Now some folks here are making excuses for him. So,are you folks against the war in Iraq, future war in Iran, poor economy, destruction of liberty, and all the other issues that Bush and the Republicans gave us,or are you just against Bush and the Republicans and what they have done is ok if your guy is doing it?Some of us are for liberty, the Constitution, sound money,non-interventionism,and limited govt.

  • Cenk I agree with the majority of the people on here, you are being reckless and inconsiderate of the very canidate you support. My guess is maybe he wont do your show and your lashing out at him idk. I have been a big fan of yours and have recommended you to family, friends, etc,,however after seeing this video and actually some earlier ones. I could see if you have solid proof but u dont , u have speculation, QUIT SPREADING THE CANCER , YOU DO US A DISERVICE WHEN U SPECULATE ON WORDS....

  • I don't think Obama is changing his stance but I do think he is killing the enthusiasm he once had behind him.

  • obama is a puppet of the Bilderberg Group and the illuminati. vote for him and you get a free ride to the concentrations camps!

  • mccain is too. oh wait, it's a two party system so it doesn't matter.

  • dude come on. Now the illuminati is voting for Obama because he is a puppet. Who is McCain a puppet for? Who has Bush been a puppet for? Is every politican a puppet for somebody. Put some facts out before spewing out crap. If that is your opinion, follow it up with some substance. If not, keep your comments to yourself. Note: I would not vote for Cenk for pres., he has a position, sticks to it and won't change. no matter. That is not being strong, it's being ignorant and bull headed. Bush anyone

  • Cenk, how is this a flip flop .. seems you weren't listening him in the primaries .. looks at his speeches/debates ....

the only people who are spinning this is the MSM .. and you're part of this ... can't blame you .. that's what you people do ..

  • What is next from Obama...a pro-life stance maybe? It wouldn't me surprised based his recent flip-flops. Obama is becoming quite the acrobat!!!

  • or just an old time policticians

  • Wow I just lost a little respect for Cenk. You bought into the Republican's spin and prediction how Obama would change his position on Iraq. All they did was predict that he would say what he has been saying since the first debate last year. He never said he would pull all the troops out the day he takes office. He always said he will withdrawal troops but it will take time. But he at least set a tentative deadline of 16 months. Only Gravel and Ron Paul suggested an immediate withdrawal.

  • Yeah I think some of us are still disappointed about the FISA thing and we are looking at all of Obama's positions with a level of cynicism that he probably didn't wholly deserve. Guess we need to 1) cut him some slack, and 2) be a bit more realistic.

  • No slack for a Bull shitter like Obama. Slack is given to slackers and this man isnt a slacker. Just one of the old style polictical BS'er running for President

  • I guess thats true. I really don't think FISA is a big deal concerning the immunity for the telecoms. I think people are missing the big picture here. They were doing what the Bush admin. asked them. If anyone should be held responsible its Bush. Instead everyones getting pissed at Obama and the telecoms. Meanwhile Bush and his crony's are sitting back laughing at yet another illegal unconstitutional act they got away with. How about no immunity for Bush.. impeach the SOB.

  • How did your reasoning not apply BEFORE, when Obama was opposed to the FISA bill? That's what the Republicans were saying all along, and it wasn't good enough back then.

    It shouldn't be now.

  • As the Treasonous War Criminal Clintonites infiltrate Obama's team expect more to come, like for instance Sen Jim Webb removing his name from Obama's VP list which happened yesterday for starters.

  • Holy crap Cenk! Do you know anything about Obama's positions AT ALL? His position of listening to Generals and and being flexible in the timing of the withdrawal has been his position all along. You seem to be on some sort of anti-obama crusade (even though, ironically, you want him to win) that has no relation to reality. Maybe you should actually pick up a copy of "The Audacity of Hope" and actually learn what his beliefs are.

  • Why does he have to go to Iraq at all? Doesn't he have a phone? Can't he see what it's costing? Can't Obama just base his position on the numbers and listen to the diplomats and military people without actually going there?

  • Obama is not being slammed for what he said, but he is being slammed for what people read into his comments, even thought the comments are the same as he has always been saying.

Usually Cenk is pretty spot on, but I think he got it wrong this time.

  • Yeah...but your wrooooongggg! Cenk, you totally, I mean TOTALLY bought into the MSM's spin on this! You focused on the word "refine". Obama did not change his position! "Refine" was substituted for "we may need to change strategy" that he used during one of the 50 debates during the primary! "Weak sauce" is not doing your homework!

  • come on cenk, you're smarter then that. you're reading way to much into the "refining" line. refining could mean earlier, it could mean later. don't buy the republican spin on one word.

  • Grappler, Cenk has made it clear who he is going to vote for.

Just because he is critical of Obama doesn't mean that he won't vote for him.

We do not want 4 more years neocon fucking over our country.

    LESSER OF TWO EVils.

how can you not realize this

  • Well damn Cenk, who are you going to vote for then? You talked about how you support Obama's speech on separation of church and state, yet you condemn Obama for being a flip flopper. So what is it? What are you going to do? I'm just not even going to vote because I don't agree with Nader, McCain, Barr, and I don't like Obama because I have absolutely no idea what to expect from him.

  • @ grapplerke,

Not voting achieves nothing but allowing whoever is left that you disagree with to vote.

Non voters comprise of 60% of the electorate. A SILENT MAJORITY that rejects both parties and has the power to throw out both parties and generally supports peace.

    Watch youtube videos entitled:

    "How you ended the war"

"WHO WINS when 100 MILLION are silent"

"HACKING Low Turnout (One Non-voter at a Time)"

Vote for peace 2008, or else guarantee war hawks winning.
