i dont see how geoge lost 2 rounds according to the judges. one judge gave it 45-50 and the other 2 gave it 47-48, maybe round 5 you could argue jake shields won it . but all the other rounds gsp won for sure

Shields has great takedowns and possible the best BJJ of all the welter weights but many people dominated and GSP just picked them apart. Its a hard fight to predict because you have not seen Shields face any other top guys from the UFC that GSP has dominated. I would really like to see him and BJ Penn fight as well. I really think GSP will be able to stop most of his take downs and pick him apart on his feet. GSP will take him down a few times but he wont stay down there to long.

Jake Shields has more take down and throw combination's than anyone in MMA. Watch his grappling with Ben Askren (Olympic Medalist) or with Mark Munoz multiple time national D-1 champ or watch some of his Sub Wrestling tournaments.
Shields has the D-1 power double (Fitch, Koscheck) but he also has slick singles, bodylock throws & take downs, drop downs & drags & set ups you don't see in any other single fighter. You might see his various throws & TD's if you mix in 3-4 top grapplers.

If you look at Shields record you will see the same pattern for his whole career. Fighters (Okami, Condit, Sakurai etc) on win streaks, Shields beats them & they go back to winning.

What you're saying about his game plan is absolutely correct and it did execute what it was supposed to which is to make the opponent come out of their comfort zone and fight Georges fight which he was forced to do. St Pierre's trainer said "Our plan was to stay as far away from Shields as possible to avoid the take down." That is why Georges back peddled the whole fight. Allowing Jake to catch on to St Pierre's pattern and do the damage he did in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds.

It was a very close fight (48-47) for having been fought entirely on the feet. And Shields landed more "significant strikes" as recorded by Fight Metric & Comp-Strike, (by a small amount)
GSP trainer said in post fight interview " we wanted to stay away from Shields as much as possible because if you get close he will take you down"
GSP went from counter punching to back peddling.

Both knew that, so every time Shields tried to approach for a takedown, GSP immediately kept his distance, 'cause he knew he could get in serious trouble on the ground. That was the fight was so lousy, each opponent waiting for the other to make a serious mistake, and that didn't happened. Jake Shields was good, but GSP was smarter.

Followed him down a second time and Shields had Georges leg and was turning GSP when he managed to fight his way to his feet.
A bloody nose, a swelling eye and bruises on both sides of his head, add that to how timid St Pierre was about engaging Shields is why the score was 48-47.

if you have seen ufc primetime, the entire time they are scripted so heavily in favour or shields because everyone clearly knows hes the hugely the underdog. even while they interviewed gsp and his coaches all they talked about was how good shields is, usually they talk about how confident they are in winning ... they are trying to hype the fight but its clearly 100% going to be gsp

@TheAcehd Its true UFC chose to use the quotes about how good Shields really is, there are black belts & there are BLACK BELTS etc, but they were all sincere from people who know. They cut a lot of them together but still real.
GSP has been saying Jake Shields would beat him in a grappling match since Shields was in EliteXC and Strikeforce. He said it in an interveiw on IFight365 and on the Joe Rogan Show 2-3 years ago.

Shields has great takedowns and possible the best BJJ of all the welter weights but many people dominated and GSP just picked them apart. Its a hard fight to predict because you have not seen Shields face any other top guys from the UFC that GSP has dominated. I would really like to see him and BJ Penn fight as well. I really think GSP will be able to stop most of his take downs and pick him apart on his feet. GSP will take him down a few times but he wont stay down there to long.

Jake Shields has more take down and throw combination's than anyone in MMA. Watch his grappling with Ben Askren (Olympic Medalist) or with Mark Munoz multiple time national D-1 champ or watch some of his Sub Wrestling tournaments.
Shields has the D-1 power double (Fitch, Koscheck) but he also has slick singles, bodylock throws & take downs, drop downs & drags & set ups you don't see in any other single fighter. You might see his various throws & TD's if you mix in 3-4 top grapplers.

This man has no emotion. He reminds me of a Fedor, or a Cain Velasquez, or a Maynard. The dry, expressionless demeanor is intimidating. GSP does have a challenge on his hands with this guy. I wouldn't want to fight him.

@MongoloidNigger Henderson was on a win streak with KO of the year as his last fight leaving the UFC. He caught Shields with his power punch & Jake shook it off & gave him grappling lessons. Then Hendo KO'd Babalu, & last night out grappled the Brazilian BJJ master Rafeal Feijao to win the SF 205lb Championship.
If you look at Shields record you will see the same pattern for his whole career. Fighters (Okami, Condit, Sakurai etc) on win streaks, Shields beats them & they go back to winning.
