The reason "Anime Fans" don't get respect is because they often come to the defense of things that are poorly made with weak plots. Very rarely is there anything of actual quality that makes it mainstream in the US anymore.
@herpybobo There are a lot of factual wrongs in that. First off, most Anime do not have "weak plots." Any show worth its animation budget is generally as well written as any American media. Also "formulaic Anime" is a total myth. Anime is only its own genre because it's from another country. It's as diverse as any other country's media. Finally, U.S. animation is in the toilet right now because of shows like "Flapjack" or "Adventure Time" pandering to an uneducated crowd, like Bobobo.

Also "formulaic Anime" is a total myth. Anime is only its own genre because it's from another country. It's as diverse as any other country's media. Finally, U.S. animation is in the toilet right now because of shows like "Flapjack" or "Adventure Time" pandering to an uneducated crowd, like Bobobo.

I didn't say it was in general if you read my post. Those were your words alone. I only expressed that there is -a lot- of Anime with those problems and that people in the US seem to eat up that stuff. "A lot" and "in general" are very different.
Since you obviously don't understand the humor/wit in Bobobo, I don't expect you to understand what I'm talking about either though. Maybe when you've been around ten more years.

@herpybobo "In general" and "a lot" are synonyms. Even if you didn't mean "more than half" it's a problem almost no Anime has. If it was all the same it wouldn't make it past the pilot. And stop accusing me of trolling, I'm defending something that's important to me. As for Bobobo, it's not witty at all. It's random, loud nonsense, like most recent American cartoons. (Since when is there such a thing as skillful trolls, I thought trolls were just people who looked up videos to hate on.)

@Godof0Thousand No, they are not synonyms. A generality means it is widely pervading, while "a lot" simply means many.
More than half that makes it to the US, most certainly. Highly formulaic, has a weak plot, and is poorly made. I wish that it were the case that things with those elements never made it past the pilot but such is not true. People like what they know more than know what they like.

If you can't see the wit in Bobobo then it went over your head, simple as that. That was kind of the point of the show though, it helps people like me weed out the people who can't actually grasp a show for something beyond its surface elements.

Skilled trolls are so tricky that you could be trolling me right now and I'd never know for sure. All I can do is make guesses based on how ridiculous that things you're saying are or aren't.

Bobobo contains a lot of satires of almost everything: anime, drama, life styles, even politics (even trolls, you do realize how bobobo "trolls" their friends, don't you :P )

Bo bo bo was never meant to be taken seriously. There's no meaning to it. It's like the Family Guy or South Park version of the Anime world. It's not supposed to make sense, it's supposed to be funny.
