  • Oh, my! That's overwhelming! What a performance!

  • The easiest A4 I've heard a baritone produce…

  • I can't hear anything.

  • There are some weird disturbed people leaving really bizarre comments here. The only important thing is that this is a marvelous performance. The voice is magnificent, the style impeccable; whether or not his Italian is immaculate is beside those very valid points.

  • One of the very greatest baritones of all time- tremendous power, always under complete control- gorgeous tone, and such dynamic control- thank you for this wondering posting!

  • Superb Armenian baritone. God bless his soul.

  • hmm no doubt Ots is much better

  • @mobhog

It is not right to compare the two. because they both stand on their own.

  • Thank you for making this talent known here as I never heard his lovely voice.

His voice makes me feel the pain in his words .

  • Pavel Lisitsian is Armenian by his parents , but he's Russian by his mentality and culture. He was singing in Moscow Big Theatre (opera and balet). He was living in Moscow downtown..On his is apartment building there is still memorial desk on his honor. His two beautiful daughters are exellent singers too.

  • One of the most beautiful voices of all time - unmistakable, unique, glorious. What a gem this video is - thank you.

  • maladets Pavelchik, gives his fellow Armenians good name. i am proud of talented Armenian brothers who raise true Armenian pride as talented nation. not those crooks that give Armenians bad name. surely, those crooks must have turkish blood in them, that's why they act strangely from true blooded Armenians. famous Armenian names: Artem Mikoian, Anastas Mikoian, Boris Babaian, Arthur Chilingarov, Raymond Damadian, George Simjian, Victor Hambartsumian, Arno Babajanian and many more.

  • I read lacaf1 comments on this singer. He said: "powerful voice, my ass!"

Lacaf1: This voice has a lot of squillo. Squillo carries the voice from the stage to the last row in a theatre with no need of screaming (like many singers do nowadays).

Pavel Lisitsian was one of those REAL singers whith an amazing vocal technique that would allow him to be heard in the last rows of a theatre with effortless singing. That's one of the "secrets" of the Art of Singing that very few have mastered.

  • @picapin yes:)

  • He was one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Certainly the greatest of the Russian baritones, much better than that other guy today (Hvorostovsky).

  • In USSR was one more great baritone George Ots, he was from Estonia.

  • Pavel lisitsian is armenian from russia

  • For LACAF1: You are a very sick person and should see a psychologist soon before your self-hate and violent mentality hurts somebody. Why do you hate everybody so much?

And if you are Italian, you disgrace your country with your foul, vulgar language. Hope your mother doesn't know what you're like. Also, you claim to be a musician, yet your comments about Pavel are ignorant and mere vile sputterings. Too bad you don't like classical music. Again: get help!

  • Суки пидоры найдите место для ругани в другом месте!! Лисициан рулить!

  • Sorry, I don't speak Russian. Hope you are a Pavel Lisitian fan, as am I.

  • I love him. He is welcome in my pub anytime....! I know at least one pubful of people who would love him -- or, maybe, it might be more correct to say, would have loved him! Thank you!

  • well thats a lesson and a half

  • Glorious singing! Bravo! TY.

  • Susejf--Your comments are the most ridiculous I've seen ever on youtube! What kind of music do you like and listen to? Obviously not opera. Pavel has one of the most beautiful, powerful, expressive voice matched by very few, maybe even Warren. And his Italian is fine, including his perfectly rolled Rs. So stop being an ingorant music critic. People might not realize you're a fool if you keep quiet. Pavel, love your voice!

  • you should be shot or at least have something nasty done to you, yeah, i hope you stub you toe every day for the rest of your life

  • your grammar isn't very good really is it? i doubt an italian has any right to be calling anyone violent, and for your information, im from scotland not england. BIG difference. Your message made me laugh so much, thanks :)

  • @susejf you're A JOKE.

  • Wow, i didnt expect to love his voice so much! It is almost gravelly but has such power and deepness. Loved it

  • being an Italian, i think that this singer's pronounciation is not worse than other italian singer when they sing in neapolitan

  • Song that is moving and without any compromise.

    A glory of humanity!

  • Magnifico!!Una de las mejores interpretaciones que he escuchado de esta canción. Tiene una voz baritonal aterciopelada y arrulladora. Tecnica antigua.Me recuerda a Battistini.

    Enhorabuena!!.

  • Pavel Lisitsian was actually Italian. Nee Paolo Lisisto he changed his name for career purposes. An Armenian heritage would be more exotic.

OKAY - The entire performance could easily be from an Italian. The style and phrasing are perfectly Italiante. I am proudly an American of Italian heritage and I have just given him dual citizenship.

BRAVO, MAGNIFICO E GRAZIE A PAOLO

    Con Mio Respeto- Giovanni

  • As far as i know he was born with an Armenian name, Pogos Karapetovich Liseetsian in the Russian city of Vladikavkas. He has sang in Armenian and has taught at the Yerevan Consevatory in Armenia. Where did you get the italian name from?

  • CoolJay77

I made up the Italian name. The text after OKAY I thought indicted the humor.

The Italian name was a way of complimenting him for his stylish singing of this Italian song.

I love his voice and singing- Best- JOHN

  • Of course he was Armenian. Everyone knows that.

  • Terrific. Get his An die Musik -- it's definitive.

  • Beautiful. Your collection is a treasure.

  • Rodolfo Celletti diceva che Pavel Lisitsian era un baritono molto superiore a Warre. Aveva ragione!

  • Does anybody have a video of the great mezzo Zara Dolukhanova who was a sister in law of Lisitsian?

  • Does anybody have a video with great mezzo Zara Dolukhanova who was a sister in law of Lisitian?

  • Heartbreakingly beautiful! Thank you so much. One of my favorite singers.

  • Magnificent!

  • This guy has complete control off his instument, he has a great palette of vocal colours and resources behind him. This refined style of singing (using all the breath)is so rare nowadays... :>(

  • I must confess that this is the first non-Russian item I've heard of Lisitsian. As he does in his own laguage, he sings this with style, feeling and charm.

  • He sang Lieder in German. Outstanding.

  • Does anyone can tell where his Di Provenza clip was gone from Utube? A terrible loss.

  • Very interesting. My first hearing of Lisitsian. Thanks.

  • The only version I admire more than this is Caruso's own. Bravissimo, Pavel!

  • Wonderful Italian with a slight Russian accent. But that beautful Lisitsian voice - oh wow

  • Perfetta; non solo la voce di Lisitsian è magnifica e l'interpretazione eccellente; anche il pianista è ottimo e contribuisce con grande sensibilità.

  • this is the most beautiful rendition of a nonItalian baritone of the famous Neapolitan song!
