@TheTravelall The Scout II received a manual glow plug commercial inline 6 diesel option from Nissan, those won't die either, but weren't offered with a turbo at the time, something that can always be added.
@nitewolf3369 i want to say in stock trim? only like 150horse. prob good bit over 200tq though. not sure. but reliable as the sun... and I would expect 20 or better mpg
@accordv6er SAE rated @ 125 hp/180 ft-lb torque, with perhaps 5-10% more in hot rod applications thanks to better-than-stock intake and exhaust. You don't do this swap for power, you do it for reliability and extreme fuel economy. Latest iteration of AMC 2.5L was only 120hp/139 ft-lb, so those swapping out the four-banger will notice a very real seat-of-the-pants boost in performance.
I agree it does need a shroud, but that's easy to cobble together. And seriously, what a nice, sano install.
Thats awesome

@piggie7100 "Repair" is not even on this engines' vocabulary.

My 300SD had to have some injection pump work on it! Although it was at the 473,000 mile mark! Otherwise very nice!

Fan is a little useless without a shroud.

Nice set up.. What transmission did you use? i put the 220D in my Wilys, but want to do the same motor you have in a Scout II.
