this is long forgotten stuff. something that the young generation wouldn't easily stumble upon. so dad, i thank you for blasting this every saturday morning back then.
HEY MAN THNX 4 SHARN THIS VIDEO....! SO REMINDS ME OF WHEN I FIRST STARTED DRIVN......CRUZN MAIN STREET.....ROASTING THOSE L-60 15 S ON MY 65 CHEVY PICK UP....! 1980.....LOL
I love the first three albums of the CARS. The 4th one too, before they went commercial. it doesnt mean I dont like the last album. But i love this one better then the album Heartbeat City
@2012endofanerror The verse "in your headlock on the floor, who could ever ask for more." says it all. Ocasek was a master at being subliminally suggestive in his tone, cadence and lyrics...music was priceless.
@MrSilkySweat Well, apparently you left this sentiment with every song, so proud as you are of it. All I can say is go take an insulin injection and go listen to You Are The Girl and stop clicking on Panorama uploads and you won't be subject to the suckitude anymore.
What makes you think that just because I don't like this album that I automatically like "You Are the Girl"? Both "Panorama" and "Door to Door" are equally shitty in their own unique ways. I'm just letting Cars-newcomers know that there's much better material out there than this.
@MrSilkySweat I think everything after panorama sucks. I can understand why some people think this sucks too. this song in particular but I like the way the album was mixed.
Riding shotgun in my brothers 65 mustang convertible down Hwy190 in the San Joaquin Valley going to high school in 9th grade, slow dancing with a hot cheerleader that wanted nothing to do with me in the cafeteria after the football game and letting his LP play out into the night until the needle ran off the edge. Ah yes, the band of my youth. Love them still. cant wait for the new album to drop and for them to tour. RIP Ben.
This is one of those songs that brings me back to a moment in time. Most of The Cars songs do that for people who were coming of age at that time. Everything they did was great, forget what the critics say. They were cutting edge with a sound like no one else and I'll always feel that way about them, Rest In Peace Benjamin Orr.
What a great song this is, and I never saw the video that I can remember. Gives me goose pimples and tears because I miss the 80's and the magic that was.
by far the best album. that said im not a huge fan but this album really does it for me. dark kinda pop rock .the other albums seem a tad happy. this sounds dark and druggy. i like i like.
@bosoxyaz8 Definitely avant garde for 1980. Dark with interesting lyrics. Of course Ocasek always had a unique way of telling a story about male/female relationships via twisted allegorical lyrics. This one is the best on the entire album. By 1980 The Cars had developed a good sized hardcore fan base. Folks outside of that base may have thought they were being too slick and out there on Panorama. The crtics hated this album and did not think much of Shake it up either.
I had this album and listened to it every day. I was in 10th grade and I remember listening to it on the old record player. I would rather listen to this then do my geometry homework. This brings back memories.
This was one of the most pivotal albums in their discography. The range in new wave and their infinite talent was truly shown in the riffs, the synths, and the lyrics. Ocasek's voice was truly an instrument. This song has always reminded me of dark sex,
Underrated album, old "Panorama",it just requires an appropriate setting,ie;sitting in your car toking on a bong, necking a Bud, before you go to the track to watch a Nascar or carts event.
Like they told you you fucken racist adolf hitler you tube is a global site and america is one whole continent who ever lives in in america is an american dumb fuck VIVA ENGLAND AND MEXICO!!!!!!!
Yhe Cars were one of the best bands of the 80's anybody can speak what ever fucken language they want in the us of shit teddy roosevelt can kiss my HISPANIC ass like you at least in ENGLAND there is no racism like the us of shit VIVA MEXICO!!!!!!!!!
'Sprawned from England not the USA'. Look at history again, ScreamingSad. It was the English who founded this nation therefore makes it the language of America. Why should I should have to 'Press 1' to exceed in English? Sounds like you're a liberal extremist. By the way, I'm an 'Independent', was a Democrat.
It is not being narrow minded. This is America and a English speaking nation. Common sense here. I happen to have more allies on this issue than you by 3 to 1. Also read about what Teddy Roosevelt said about immigrants in America in 1907, "...there is only enough room for one language and that is the English language. Enough with political issues. Back to The Cars.
@ScreamingSadist 'people like yourself need to stop acting like you own the language.' Pal, you act like a liberal extremist. Why should I have to 'Press 1' to exceed in English in America. Better look at history again. Yes, it spawned in England however it was the English who founded America therefore making English the official. Not going to be 'forced' to speak foreign languages in my own nation by someones special interests. Hey, I see you live in Canada. Stay out of American issues.
@ScorpioBornIn69 No one is forcing you to speak another language and how is this all an American issue? There are other countries in the world that have English as their official language so if I want to express my opinion on YTube I'll do as I please.
No offence but what it all boiled down to is that Roosevelt knew damn well that most citizens from the US couldn't learn a 2nd language if their lives depended on it and this still stands true even today, in fact, even more so.
@ScorpioBornIn69 And are you saying, that if you like the Cars and can't speak English then you shouldn't express your appreciation of them? Dude, how can you be so narrow minded?
BTW, the other thing I find interesting about music with its melodies and cadences is that it could transport you back through time and you begin to remember the same tune played 30+ years ago.
@yeagerchuck I was living in San Francisco when John Bonham died. Immidiately after the announcement on KSAN, the radio station played Touch and Go. It's probably the "Oh-oh-oh" lyrics in that song which reminded me of Robert Plant doing the same which again reminded me of John Bonham. I don't know why Touch and Go would come out in 1982 when I heard it in 1980 and on the same year John Lennon died. Beats me.I only posted my memories of the tune, what I was doing, where I was at...etc..
